Very good. By the way, for taking screenshots that you are gonna photoshop and then show to everyone on the web, try turning on Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering in your graphics card's options Will get rid of all those jaggies and make your pics really good.
If your PC is old, just be sure to turn it off before you game, else LFS will be like a slideshow.
I use a program called "Joytokey" that sits in the system tray, and converts any joystick/gamepad/wheel button press to a pre-assigned keyboard command.
This would make it possible to have 2 buttons for 1 command. Just assign both buttuns to the same keyboard command. Easy.
The other positive of this, is that I can have certain buttons on my wheel for F9, F12, H, Shift+R, Shift+S, etc. etc.
Another positive, is that I can have L3 and R3 as "alternate" buttons.... I.e. when L3 is held down, the rest of the buttons take on a different function, effectively trippling the amount of buttons
PS: You might be able to manage something similar with the Logitech Wingman Software...
I believe you would be alot slower, if you were to drive with no sound with a car / track combo that you have never raced before. Because you'd done plenty of laps on BLGP with the FOX, you could probably do it with your eye's closed..... Imagine being a new player to LFS, having to learn to drive all the cars and all the tracks without being able to hear. I think you would be alot slower than someone that could hear....... I guess with enough practise though, one could improve their times to a time close to the WR, but it would take much longer than a non-deaf player.
Anyway, to the original poster, would one of those special racing seats with speakers built in to them be of any help? That way the speakers would vibrate your hole body... I don't know much about deafness, but this could be an idea?
There have been lost of different suggestions, some confusing, most of them could possibly be considered as "arcadish"....
But, what I think would be good, is to replace the triangles with position numbers.... What does everyone think about that?? You could still preserve the different colours. Also, the position list in the bottom right hand corner could have the position numbers next to them as well, so you can easily see where each person is on the track....
Not sure if it has been said before, If it has, consider it a "+1" vote.
Anyway, here is my idea;
Instead of having different coloured triangles, why not replace them with numbered triangles? I.e. 1st place a 1, 2nd place a 2, etc... They could still be kept very small so they don't overlap etc.... Then have 1 colour for people in front, 1 for yourself, 1 for people behind, and 1 for people who are 1 or more laps behind you.......
What do other people think of this idea?? If you can't picture it, I'll draw up an example on photoshop if need be...
+1 for this request. Perhaps at a later date, you could somehow have numbers instead of dots, and then have numbers in the connection list - representing different players.... or numbers indicating position or something similar.
(On Topic) Request: This is a great feature. I was wondering if it would be possible to display the time when you are racing perhaps?? Similar in style to the fps meter? I don't use cockpit views for most of the cars so the in-dash clocks aren't viewable for me.
You need to save the replay, then upload it at www.lfsworld.net . Then, in your stats, if you highlight a PB, it will show both the PB and the HL time seperately
So, it is possible to run a server with a Dynamic IP??
The problem my mate was having, is that he was using my Broadband ISP's free backup dial-up service, and for some reason, had the exact same IP address as me, hence not being able to find my game in the master list, or join specifically.... Does this sound right? I checked on LFS World, and my server was on the list...
