It won't help wreckers at all, because they don't care what will happen with them after crash, they only care how horrible trouble they cause to others. illepall
I played FlatOut where the driver was a ragdoll dynamics model and to knock him (yourself actually? weird lol) outta the car was one of goals of this "original" game. From the popularity of that title I would guess it can attract many weirdos around, but in LFS I wouldn't see it as a reality level, to be honest.
Trying to think seriously about it (aside from I dn't need it in game), I would say that wrecked car which cannot continue in race is enough penalty.
Material is fR-Advanced, refraction index down to 1, so I won't get distorted objects viewed thru or inside (if windows were modelled as real glass tables, not just faces, it would work with 1.5 well), and fresnel 1.5 reflections - realistic for a glass.
This setting makes the glass pretty much final. Now the overhead tubes:
Of course they are not modelled with some volumetric light effect on them, for a render time sake. It's the simple box with selfillumination gradient texture. And this texture can be set all wrong.
But what makes the reflection look plastic to me, is the weird distortion on the side window. I will delete tubes and put the car to different environment. Stay tuned.
Thanks for telling me. It's just my horrible memory in case of MRT5, because now I remember how I saw the real world counterpart photo for it. And the Raceabout always was very reminding me of some prototype car, or at least an exot from some designer... bah no way I'm gonna google now. Please tell me the name. Thanks ;0)
American muscle beasts would surely extend the fun in LFS.
BTW, I am not so confident about the "huge impact" on the LFS game like Cue-Ball for example. To be honest, Live for Speed has the British Racing Green tint for me. Eventhough I can't really drive the LX4 and LX6, I never stop trying! And I believe that devs feel the same.
There is no real car in game. FZ50 GTR for example, my favorite, would be half the Porsche half the Ferrari maybe...
Would you be happy if there simply was some half Mustang half Charger, or maybe 2 of a kind, so they could have a nice races against each other?
Yes the reflective material always reveals imperfections in the model. There are many. I spent hours trying to weld vertices and reassign smoothing groups, but eventhough there are no buggy vertices nor faces, the model seems to be too lowres for the raytracer to render the reflection smooth. Or I'm noob in modelling car bodies, which I actually am.
I'm very surprised after reading all these replies. I perfectly understand what is he saying. khtwo is S2 licenced after few days of trying the demo (date of posts he had just 1st 2 days of an experience) - that is an answer to those who seem to be too excited about their full licence.
If S2 licenced racer comes on Demo server, wearing his LFSW skin, demo players immediatelly see his licence status since they already well know these few stock skins available. And he got such a cool skin, everybody here is talking about (because everybody would see it automatically). "Hey, can you see my new skin?" - asks demo player "You have to be S2 licenced to be able to upload skins at LFSWorld" replies licenced guy. "Ah I see... how much it is again? 24 pounds?" , "For me, the best 24 pounds spent for entertainment in my life ..." (thanks Chaos )
Do you FINALLY understand it guys? How can it be preventing demo players from byuing the licence? My english really sucks, but what khtwo is saying sounds crystal clear to me.
Don: What I don't understand is why did you come to this topic talking about the system of special topics for each car, when there were other 3 such topics created sooner. You didn't write anything in these, though. :irked:
Let's not forget the main reason of Chaos' suggestion - demo or S1 players will see how cool it is to have S2 cars, and that will change their "I would buy licence but have no money" to the "damn I MUST get those 24 pounds no matter what!!".
Another thing I would like to see is the skin autodownload feature working at demo servers too - many demo players wondered how and IF does it work. Now they will see a licenced racer with custom skin passing by and have another good reason to buy the licence.
