drumroll please...

I have just found a great teacher for those who are in this club. Sam Aardema, also known as »SWC*Diesel, has graciously agreed to instruct club members in the ways of drift.

Some of his accomplishments include:

- Organisation and Judging of the Inertia Grand Prix (IGP)
- Team Leader of SWC (the Sideways Crew)
- Co-Leader of KMC (Kakudo Manji Club, a club for the VERY ELITE (best of the best of the best) drifters in LFS)
- D1GP Seeded Driver

He will be using the name µ SaM

Thank you very much!

Tristan Drift? Who woulda thought... illepall

[NOTE: Moderators, I have put this in the General section in hopes of garnering more interest in this project. If you absolutely feel the need, feel free to move it to the "Teams" section, but I would absolutely love it to stay here for now ]

This is a project headed up by myself to introduce racers into the world of the drift. As a half-breed of both, I have been fortunate enough to enjoy both of these elements in the world of racing, and wish to pass it on to those that are less fortunate This is just a 'fun and friendly way for people like Tristan who don't know drifting (or how to do it) to learn and see what the community is really like' (thanks Tristan)

Because of the 'rift' between the two breeds, I am creating a club where racers can experience the world as a drifter without having to withold a reputation as a racer. Members change their names while drifting, and can change back when they go to race. No real commitment is required, you do NOT need to quit your current team (if any) to join (nor are you required to become a drifter ). Just sign up here with your Racer name and your 'Drifter' Name, and wait for approval. When you are a member, just toss the tag on, or if you are already a drifter and supporting the club, then just keep a μ (roman letter mu) in your name at all times.

There will be certain 'Drift Days' for you racers out there, and Drifters may join this 'club' just to help out with teaching these racers how to slide, and to chill These sessions will be held once a week. Any drifters that want to help may contact me through YIM, MSN, or AIM (look at my profile.)

For my first two members, I have managed to persuade Tristan and Gooden to join this club. If you see them online with their alter-ego name, give them a shout :P Thanks guys for being good sports

Just to make it known to you drifters, yes, I am planning to make a [DTRC] depending on how well this one runs, once it gets up to speed.

Quote from Clownpaint :I'm not a fan of the term gripping either, or drafting, that was always called a slipstream for me until I got on here and the Americans brought their own words into it. :P

In real life it's still racing and slipstreaming for me but on here it's gripping and drafting. :P

Another thing, why do you Americans call the straight the straightaway?

well drafting and slipstream are really one and the same... but "grip"? thats dumb... everyone "grips"... even drifters... "grip" is just stupid. "grip racers" is even worse. racers and drifters. thats it.

anyways, i have a new pet project... look around, i'm gonna post it up like... now.

okay one more thing. i have made it a personal goal to not say "grip", because that is IMO a dumb thing to say. if you're a racer, then you race for speed. if you're drifter, then you drift. let it be known that i shall never say the word" gripper" again.... or else...

Now before I start, I must say that at heart i am a racer, I started as a racer, I started because I am a racer, and I enjoy both drifting and racing online.

Some of my friends on this game are racers, some are drifters.

And yes, it is another Drifters and Racers topic.

I was in the [400] server the other day with the likes of Gooden (thanks for letting me know, btw) and others (I have a bad memory). So it was the end of the race, and i asked if it was OK to drift for a little bit (there really wasn't much of anything going on, I am courteous, if there's a 500HP GTR barreling down on me I will pull over). One member said "Sure, as long as i don't see you". Though i understand this was half in jest as it was a racing server after all, it got me thinking of all the hostility towards drifters. I understand all the wrecking and ruined races because if irresponsible drifters, but there are those of our breed that don't. Is the general hostility towards drifters mainly because of the few members that are too stupid to provide common courtesy? or is it the idea of drift itself?

Quote from Gentlefoot :Great - didn't know you could do this. Must go through that folder to find some skins I like lol

With regards intellectual property rights, copyright etc, its only a crime if the person who created the skin has actually applied for copyright on it (in English Law). You don't just get copyright as a matter of course. You must apply. I doubt anyone has actually bothered - it costs money.

So, probably all skins are fair game with regard the law. Obviously if someone was unhappy about it I would remove the skin from my collection without hesitation. And I do think using team skins of a team you're not in is a bit off.

btw - I'd be pleased if I saw people using my skins.

The copyright in the work of authorship immediately becomes the property of the author who created the work. Only the author or those deriving their rights through the author can rightfully claim copyright.

from the US copyright office.

and just because someone puts something on a public domain, doesnt mean you can use it for your own purposes. take podcasts, for example. if you download a podcast, does it mean you can go broadcast it? no, the creator/owner has the rights. just because a skin is on lfs world, doesn't mean you can use it. it's so you can SEE them, not use them without permission.

as mainly a drifter, i definetely lost my passion... i quit around july when i just couldn't give a crap about this game anymore. i focused on mountain biking. but once it was off season, i started focusing more on cars, and started drifting in LFS again. now i'm back, and i am more than ready to play until june, or whenever until i get bored again.

Quote from Vendetta :Drift all you want. When you buy S2, ill drift with you sometime Youll meet lots of drifters, that are nice. Drifting has gained a bad rep in LFS, because most drifters are...well..dicks. Youll find out who you want to hang around with, and who you dont. Maybe even you can join an S2 team Have fun in S2! its well worth it!

it sure is but just because you're into drift doesn't mean you can't do anything else either. i'm friends with some pretty important racers, and some damn impotant drifters as well. the best of both worlds.
sand traps not trappy enough?
RevMonkey

i find the sandtraps in S2 to be very lacking. normally the sand traps are there to stop cars from smacking the wall... but the sand traps in this game actually help me vault over the wall, with no loss of speed :| but they are quite useful for dirt drops now and then when i drift...
