Its all objective , i hear what your saying about the state of Sim racing compared to FPS and your dead right yet not one of the bleeding edge games
has anywere near the number of active players that Counter Strike does,the BF1942/2/2142 are close i guess but i would bet more guys play CS1.6 than all of them combined (no real factual statistics invovled).

And CS1.6 is not a pretty game so it must come back to gameplay, it always does in the end.Game play wise LFS is right up there, imho its the pick of the bunch in all the factors that count,easy to install even easier to play online and the racing online is awesome from the point of view you can play with some pretty nasty pings and not upset everyone around you.

Ive got both games and i really like some things from rfactor,yet the online experience of LFS on the most parts is out of this world compared to anything else available atm , so yes we are blessed

Thats why theres some merit to fixed setup Leagues ,in reality nothing much would change the fast guys will always be fast but who doesnt like an even playing field?

Yes i realise we all have wr sets at our disposal so its sort of even now, but it would be interesting .

I guess it depends how you look at it, you can keep gene pool small and pure (small dev team no outside code) which so far has shown to be working well, some would argue the pace of development is something for concern (i dont)

Or you could have a large gene pool with alot of diveristy and many ways of acheiving the same thing,for my money at this stage it should stay as is.

But i hope its fully moddable one day..

For me,

Driving with fast guys helps bring down your times quicker than setups alone, even though they blitz me i can always pick up time by following for as long as possible and get shown the right line rather than what i think is the right line.

But a stable setup helps bigtime, one where you can "drive" the car not just keep it on the blackstuff.

I,m not a quick driver ,i raced in a 72 lap FO8 event on monday night and dropped over 5 seconds from my best qualifying lap just following the faster guys and gettin into the groove i guess

I joined today for about 75 seconds, in a uf1 going in the right direction i have some guy go pass in the wrong direction and 1.5 seconds after that he has initated a press 1 to kick and 2.5 seconds later i,m kicked...

Tristan, i work in an automotive spare parts store and i get asked to donate funds for ppls racing activities constantly,i also race a kart which i fund myself
as i should, wether its racing or ball room dancing i think its more than fair to pay for you own enterainment....

As for an advertisment on race cars unless your supporting a good car in a major series then the return is sfa imho ( having sponsored some cars over the years)

As i said before good luck in your racing ,
