You have to create your own account on LFS main site in order to multiplay on demo servers.

Just a little BUMP !

Please can someone confirm that the DFGT (hardware/drivers) is working well with pc ?
I might buy one soon but wanted to be sure first.

That's it !!
Changing the file name to "italiano" made it !! Thanks a lot !

Edit: finished translating, checking started, Scawen informed.

That's what I thought too, and I started like you say, but the game kept on using the default english "Testdrive - GTI.txt" file.

I think that the @ charachter is there for a good reason, but still don't catch it.
Anyway after some trial and errors, I came up with what I described before and it works: the "active" file used is indeed "Testdrive - GTI.txt".

A bit strange but it works.

Thanks Flame.

That's what I'm doing:
  • I copy the first lesson "Testdrive - GTI.txt" (the file is in English, without the @ line) two times.
  • I rename the two new files in "Testdrive - GTI_English.txt" (only to preserve the original text, just in case) and "Testdrive - GTI_Italian.txt".
  • I open "Testdrive - GTI.txt" and "Testdrive - GTI_Italian.txt", translate one, and then copy+paste over the other.
  • In the "Testdrive - GTI_Italian.txt" file, i add the first @ line with the correct lesson title (I don't know why in fact, I do so only to mantain the general structure).
  • Close and save.
  • In the game I have now the translated training text.
Is it correct ?
Italian training

Hi all.

I just started translating training lessons in Italian.

I see that for each lesson there are lots of files for different languages.
All these files, like "Acceleration - GTI_Deutsch.txt", have "@LESSON_NAME" as first line, while the corresponding "default" English text file ("Acceleration - GTI.txt", with no language in the file name) is without the "@....".

Can someone help me understanding better ?

Yes, I know from the "sender" point of view, I pressed "N" and sent a setup to a buddy (click on "SS") and I saw the message "setup sent", but my buddy didn't know what to do in order to "receive" it, we're both very newbs.
I thought it was automatically saved in the garage area...

Hi.
Do both the players need to press "N" key ?

Quote from dadge :the DFP (or DFGT as it's also known as) is a very good wheel. and all the buttons are assignable.

Aren't they two different wheels ?
I saw some comments on websites saying that the DFGT buttons ar not all programmable or configurable in Windows...they are somewhat "dedicated" to Playstations, and even specifically designed for "Gran Turismo 5 Prologue"...You know Logitech's drivers and software better than I, so I could well be wrong (hopefully).

As far as I could understand: the DFP has been the best (speaking of normal people's budgets ) for a long time, but now it is discontinued and being replaced by the DFGT.
At Logitech's top end there is the G25 which has 2 FFB engines, better foot pedals...

Edit: I'm reading now about the DFGT: some say that the red button doesn't work yet (as of 20th August) and it must be used with the old DFP drivers.
At http://wingmanteam.com/latest_software/latest_soft_main.htm the DFGT looks not supported yet.

Quote from CasseBent :Can't you use your flight sim equipment for LFS? Anything's better than keyboard imo.

I tried driving in GTR2 with the joystick long ago, couldn't really manage it well...I think I'll give it a shot again...

Quote from dadge :ok, point being missed in this thread me finx. the guy is in hospital. do you think they will allow a G25 or a full flight control system in there?

Thanks all for the replies.
I said "hospital months" thinking more about my long recovery.
I'm no more in the hospital now luckily, but I still have the laptop my sister gave me back then. I am at my parent's house and I still need their help, can't go back in my apartment yet, so it's still a "kind" of hospitalization...

...And speaking about wheels, what do you think of the new Logitech Driving Force GT ? What is your experience with Logitech software support ? Do you ever think that all those buttons will work on the pc one day ?
I saw the G25, nice beast!

Quote from Psysim :...One thing that is helping me to improve my speed and time is using hosts that have LFSlapper installed...

How can I see if the host has LFSlapper or not ?? Is there a flag on the multiplayer screen ?
I noticed some servers showing more info than others, both when you first connect and at the end of each lap. Is it that ?

@ Dac
I started with Trackmania Nations (or whatever it is called). Did you say arcade ?
Then I tried different "more serious" demos, RBR, BMW M3 Challenge, XpandRally, some SimBin demos (but kept only RaceDriver Civic), some "must have" GP, or was it GT Legends...

I have an old laptop Toshiba Satellite, which my sister gave me for these "hospital months", and the majority of these sims don't even run, so I just deleted them all and remained with LFS, that runs well. I can't wait to get back home and try it there.

@ dadge
I'm sure you're right about getting a wheel. That's why I have a serious HOTAS setup for flying, I know what you mean. I'm afraid I am short of physical space on the desk...
Thanks for slow in=fast out. I was starting to get to the same conclusion by myself last night (please don't laugh. I'm a serious noob!).

Some noobish advice needed

Hi all.
I'm very new to driving sims, although I have GTR2 too, but never really dedicated much time to it...might change my mind.
I'm a so-called "hardcore" flight-simmer, and I have joystick, throttle, rudders, TIR4...all that sort of things.
But I miss a steering wheel, and I haven't my own pc here !

Now, while recovering from a long surgical adventure, I started d'loading demos of race sims, and eventually found LFS. I ran the demo for a month and then bought S2. Wow, I really like it !
My "problem" (must be a common one) is that I drive with mouse and keyboard, auto shifting, brake help on. I started switching off the driving line help, so I don't focalize on it (Blackwood of course).
I'm not asking you to check my hotlaps and see where I can save some seconds on this or that corner (I'm not that good yet). I'm still trying to grasp all the technicalities and lingo of driving world, which is all very new to me. I've read all the stickies about "clean driving", T1 surviving, all that, and I'm trying to apply it to my drivingstyle.

Just tell me please if there are big obvious DO's and DONT's about keyboard driving, like "you absolutely have to manually change gear if you want to improve your times", or "switch off/on brake help"...

Thanks.

Hi there.

Just bought S2 license a couple of days ago and really enjoying it ! Still with mouse and keybd though.
I am rather new to driving sims but I come from many years of hardcore flight simming.

I'm wondering how I can manage to stuff a wheel (to be bought in near future) on the same desk where I already have Thrustmaster Cougar and Simped rudders...
