Hi all.
I had to reformat and now I can't reconfigure my wheel properly.
I installed Logitech 5.04 drivers, the wheel shows up regularly in game, and it works.
Before format, the "select" and "start" buttons were configured with the Pit (shift+p) and Join (shift+j) commands, now I can't figure out how to reassign them.
If I press those 2 buttons in the Logitech Profiler screen, nothing changes (no blue lines)...In LFS they show up as "44" and "45" buttons respectively.
What do I do wrong ??
I guess, and I hope, there's something simple I overlooked...
Wow ! I just saw this car here in Rome a couple of hours ago while I was out.
It just missed the top air intake, but it was Subaru with that air intake on front and a high wing on the back !! Quite a coincidence.
Well, someone likes to call it BL1, as this is the internal naming convention for tracks in LFS. Better get used to it.
BL1 is the first GP track, BL2 is the second track at Blackwood (Rallycross), and so on...
As for set performances, I didn't try it yet, I have some graphics driver problems with pc at the moment...
I don't think I'm fully qualified to speak about setup qualities, as I'm relatively new to all this.
But if, as you say, you consistently get low 16s with it, it sounds like a good start.
I'll try to beat my (edit: lame) 1.15.13 with it and will report back.
I don't have Vista, but did you go through the usual "tweaks", like disabling UAC, installing VLFSD in another folder and NOT in "program files" (or whatever Vista calls it) ??
Personally, my jaw dropped down for the first time when I installed a SoundBlaster16 into my Win 3.1 rig, playing Hexen, experiencing 3D audio effects !! I could hear where the enemy was !! Wow !
...So I just got a 8.4" Lililput Touchscreen on Ebay.
I have installed it and calibrated, and works very well...as a monitor!
I mean, I don't get any LFS in-game input when touching it, main game screen minimizes...
I've tried with both of Primaryman's profiles (LFS_game skin_PM.tbc and Live For Speed_PM.tbc)
Buttons on Touchscreen do animate and I get the feedback "beep", but nothing more than that.
I'm waiting for account activation on TouchBuddy forum, so I thought to ask here first.
There must be something I forgot because I get strange results in IL-2 1946 too (game doesn't fill the whole main screen), sooooo......Do you have any idea ???
XP SP3 and Ati Radeon X1950XTX
Edit1: Found the reason!
I forgot I had Microsoft's Powertoy TweakUI installed, and it turned out that my TweakUI's settings were stealing focus from LFS window.
Now I only have to iron out the IL-2 "bug".
Edit2:
IL-2 "bug" solved.
Switched IL-2 1946 back from OpenGL to DirectX mode, and everything's working!!

Reason : Problems solved !!
Well, I finally got today my Lilliput 8.4" TouchScreen (for use with TouchBuddy software) and I can tell you that VLFSD works very well with it.
I touched it many times while driving and nothing happened.
It just "beeped" as usual, no resizing, no focus problems...nothing.
VLFSD just works !!
Edit1:
Well, after trying LFS also with some TouchBuddy profiles, and getting no in-game input at all, I started thinking that I might have some kind of touchscreen setup problems. This could be the reason why VLSFD works with my touchscreen without flaws!
I'm waiting for some answer on the TouchBuddy thread.
Edit2:
Problem solved! It was Microsoft Powertoy TweakUI interfering with game window focus.
Uninstalled TweakUI, everything works fine, and I should also add that VLFSD keeps on running just fine!!!
And for mat6681 with the INSIM UPD BIND FAILED error:
launch VLFSDashboard, click on "setup", then "help".
It tells you everything you need.

Reason : Problem solved. VLFSD runs fine on a touchscreen.
Drivers don't support it yet...well...they're not at all released for DFGT, you'll have to use the DFP ones.
I hope one day the DFGT will be properly supported with its own drivers. Anyway, it's a very very nice wheel, it's my first one, so I can't compare it, but I really like it.
I was following the other thread about FSX, and all I can say is that I'm happy to see some flightsim lovers over here
If you fly with IL2-Sturmovik 1946, you only have to download one single patch (4.08m) and you're ready to go.
There's a 4.09m patch out too, but it's still a beta.
To fly online I connect through HyperLobby. Lots of servers available with all sort of difficulty settings.
IL2-Sturmovik 1946 is the BEST combat flight simulator, period!
And it's not that easy on high settings. Watch out for its (sooner or later) upcoming sequel, Sow:BoB (Storm of War:Battle of Britain).
