Quote from harjun :surely it should be getting more that 17s...

Nah its about right for what I have it OC'd to. See here:

16.552 Q6600 @ 3204MHz | 4GB

The one guy has, so mine is OK for 3.0 Ghz. If if was a QX6600 then I would expect faster, but not a Q6600.

EDIT: Does superpi mod use all 4 cores?

Quote from jfgcatalan :As typical with these things, after the initial wow! it just becomes "business as usual". Then one day you are forced to play on a single monitor for whatever reason and wonder how can anyone see anything. Not sure if that's good or bad

For me the main thing is that having the monitors extend almost past my own field of view helps the feeling of "being there". I feel more like I'm driving a car from inside instead of remote controlling one looking trough a small window.

Yeah that's exactly the feeling! After quickly going back to one to see what I was (not) missing, I thought I was driving looking through a tiny window! So for that fact alone, it shows how much 3 screens adds to the immersion, even though your not totally aware of it once you get used to the wide view.

Yes totally, after playing with 3 screens for a bit I tried 1 again to see the diferance, and it looked tiny. Playing over 3 like this just feels more natural.

It's probably the cheapest way to get such a wide area of view also, so until you can buy a cheap curved 3840x1024 screen and a good enough graphics card to run it well, this is an awesome solution.

Also being able to have differrent applications in each screen is a bonus.

Here's what the final set-up looks like for anyone interested:

Right, everything arrived this morning and I have it all set up.

Seems the 6200 TC works fine, even Crysis works fine on three screens (have to turn the graphics down a bit)

LFS and RBR are awesome, the wide thin view really works well.

I'm chuffed as a result!

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/141323 maybe?

You could get 3 of http://www.ebuyer.com/product/135667, or 3 20".
They seem to have very thin edges so would be good for SoftTH.

Imo 3 smaller desktops is much better for desktop management, and having 3 in a 'curved' surround would be more immersive than 1 big screen.

Ah well already brought it now, due to arrive tomorrow. From what I have read about TC it seems OK, and I have 2GB memory so it won't use up too much.

I brought the graphics card from ebuyer as I know I can trust them and can get everything delivered together.

I can always return it and get one from ebay if it doesn't work great, but it should be fine though.

Quote from eRaptor :You don't need a Track IR.

The Z800 have an integrated head tracking system, and is very smooth and precise.

When using the cockpit view, it really feels you're inside the car, because you turn your head and really feels like you looking to the sides.

Wow this thing looks awesome. I would totally buy it instead of 2 extra monitors if I could find another one for sale...

Is the tracking natural (i.e if you turn your head 150 degrees is turns 150 in lfs?)

EDIT: Damn I can only find these for £900 everywhere... if anyone knows another being sold for ~£350 I'd appreciate a link

I think I'm going to buy a 6200 from ebuyer, seems using an ATI may cause more headaches than its worth.

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/116473

The only other PCI-E card on ebuyer is a 6800XT, which is probably a bit OTT for what it has too do.

So thats 2 Fujitsu Siemens 19" and Nvidia 6200 for £230. Not too bad when you think how big my desktop space is going to become!

Thanks for the help guys

Damn, thats a good point. If there is anyway I could make it work at all though I'd rather use that, but I'll buy a Nvidia if I need to.

Would be good to use my ATI as it cost me £120 when I brought it!

Actually I may be being stupid here. I still have my old graphics card (a Radeon X800GT) will that work with my Nvidia?

Great, thanks for the reply (I have checked the money is real with a trip to the ATM, very pleased, it came on a separate mastercard that I received from the site)

Well I hope the 4x is OK too then (It should be if the main card does all the rendering)

Thanks again

EDIT: Oh btw what do you mean by the 'Turbo-crap'?

Hey guys, I'm going to buy an extra 2 monitors as I got paid $1000 from some pay to click site (you can send me a pm if you want to know anything about that, its great)

Buying 2 of these:

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/135667/

I also need to get an extra graphics card so I have 3 DVI/AVG slots. I have 2 on my 8800GT, so can someone tell me the best low price secondary graphics card from ebuyer that would work fine for SoftTH?

Also will it work OK on a ASUS P5KC AiLifestyle Series:

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/132275/

I was thinking of something like a Nvidia 6600? Would this be OK or is there a better one to go for?

Thanks in advance

EDIT: I chose that monitor because it looks like it has really thin edges. If anyone knows of one with a thinner edge for a similar price please tell me

Yeah I realised the Quad will only be an advantage for the very latest games, but since the Q6600 is apparently fine to OC to 3.6Ghz with a Freezer 7 Pro (which I allready have) even 1 core will be much faster then my current CPU

I also use a lot of WinRAR and Encoding, so that will be a welcome bonus.

Which quad do you have btw Jakq?
From Radeon X800 + P4 3Ghz to 8800GT + Core 2 Quad Q6600!!

Well my CPU has been randomly shutting down my PC lately so I decided to upgrade, then while I was looking I thought I may aswell get a decent graphics card so I can play stuff like crysis. Brought a Inno3D 8800GT OC edition for £155, and the Q6600 was £160 (not sure how much they were last year but im guessing thats a lot less than they came out at). Brought a ASUS P5KC AiLifestyle to put them into:

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/132275

Allready have 2GB ram and a 600W Power Supply so this should work great. Can't wait to see what a quad core is like to use. Anyone on here had experience with a quad?

It should be here by tomorrow so will tell you what I think.

Quote from tiagolapa :Most of time i have music playing in winamp even in league races. Low sound volume for music, louder in game sounds. It helps me relax in the straights, but i lose concentration some times too eheh
Porcupine Tree

Porcupine Tree rules! Haven't met many people that have heard of them, except for music forums. Anyone who likes good psychedelic/progressive rock should love it. Hell, anyone who likes rock music should check it out.

I'm not listening to music for LFS atm, since I haven't got a FFB wheel and I react to the sound of the wheels to a certain extent. That may change when I get one, but I find sim racing games require a bit more concentration than the average FPS

Cheers all, I've been able to earn more money then I though this week, so I should be able to get it from darkplanets no prob. If I like it a lot maybe I can get a G25 for Christmas

Having a great time on the game so far, FOX is def my fav so far, had some great close races and been able to win a fair few. Hopefully with a DFP I will be able to drive smoother and get the power down earlier

Ok cheers, a slight bit more than I'd like to spend, but I think it'll be worth it. I'll probably order it next week so if anyone finds a better deal before then please shout!
Buying a DFP (UK)

Hi all! Im new here

I brought S2 about a week ago, and have been having some great races online (mostly the FOX on the Blackwood Redline server), and I use a xbox 360 controller, which is OK and I've been able to get some pretty good times, but it's hard to drive smoothly so i'm looking to buy a DFP after looking on this forum and seeing how its recommended so much.

Been looking on Google and the main sites like amazon, play.com etc. and can't seem to be able to find it at the £50-55 mark that I remember someone mentioning. There are a few on ebay but I'd rather get a brand new one.

If someone could point me to the cheapest place online that would be cool
