speak for yourself. I usually go faster than the speed limit, when there's less traffic on highways/freeways/major roads (as long as it isn't adverse road conditions). When i was working out bush, i used to come home once a month for the weekend, to catch up with mates/family etc. It's a 1300km round trip.
about 6.5 hours each way, at 110kmh (the maximum allowed speed limit in this state) Being as i had to drive it on my own (no driver swaps) usually after a 12 hour shift on a friday (fatigue) i used to have to stop for a break, being as it was such a long haul. The road goes thru towns etc that you have to slow down for, which is fine, but theres one seciton that is 180km of nothing, and i do mean NOTHING. I can see no reason why a piece of road like that shouldn't have a higher speed limit, being as the biggest risk is hitting wildlife (and i'm prepared to take that risk, if it saves me an hour or 2 off a 6.5 hour trip)
i don't even think i can link to this post, as it was hanging this post too!
The thread is located in Offtopic - Guess Which Car, the last post i had on there
My last post there seems to have an error or something in it that is causing this thread to hang, and i can't delete or edit it to stop it. (because it makes my browser hang, and i have to close it with task manager)
Sorry i can't direct link for you.
Hope this can be resolved...
Issue Resolved, just had to stop it loading too much, clear the text, and save the post. This post can be deleted If you want

Reason : Finally solved the issue, formatted this post.
There were three produced, one with the engine mounted transversely with RWD, and two with the engine mounted longitudinally. One of these was RWD while the other was AWD using a custom gearbox manufactured by Xtrac. (remembering the engine is mid mounted)
It was a GroupB/GroupS Hybrid, it was planned to replace the celica groupB cars but GroupB was cancelled before it ever saw competition.
Toyota have also restored one of the 2 cars that were detroyed in testing, only 2 remain, 1 in Germany, 1 in Japan.
Ok here's a tip on clue spotting - Look at the tread and ground clearance of the car, should give u a fair indication as to what kind of racing it was built for.
Also, look at the style of the bodywork, what era of car does it look closest to?
Safety Nazi's strike again. If you wrap people in cotton wool enough, they get complacent. I've noticed in the last few years, where i live, that people now take more stupid risks, ie pulling out into traffic without looking, pulling out of stationary lanes of traffic into the flow, running stop signs, running red lights, more than i ever remember when i was younger. I've dodged 4 people this year alone, and i've driven maybe 1000km since start of the year.
but hey they've lowered the speed limits, increased cameras and loads of other "safety initiatives"
None of which will matter when someone gets blindsided and killed. (side impacts are some of the worst for brain injuries, so even if you don't get killed, you might just end up a vegetable, but at least their fatality figures will be lower hmm)
The last one i guessed was a race car. Yes i've seen the 1st post. Already stated that this is a bending of the rules. If all we have is road cars, this will get pretty boring..
my question tho was, if you have butterflies on the blower hat, why do you also need them on the carby? (obviously some don't but there is pics about of those that do)Whats the advantage of having two sets of throttle bodies...
Yeah i've always disagreed with the pedestrians having right of way thing. It's way easier for a pedestrian to stop than it is for a car. Where i live has some really stupidly ignorant/arrogant pedestrians (and drivers too)
All you can do is be very situationally aware..
Although i do notice - not many people walk in front of my car when i have the headlights popped up...and even less used to walk in front of my previous car which had a loud exhaust
I think i've heard them called a "blower hat" or "bug catcher" on drag racing shows..
the one on the OP's pic is the Hat/Throttle butterflies on the supercharger, and there isn't an air filter on it..
it looks like it might be Fuel injected rather than carburettor fed? (correct me if you know better, i'm guessing!)
The red car has two carbs over the supercharger, which i'm assuming would have throttle butterflies in them, as opposed to on the front of the intake?
EDIT: i've since had a look around and found some have carbs under with throttle butterflies too..I wonder what the advantage to having them on the hat is..
yeah i don't mind the G25's shift, its good. If you could build one like that, but stronger, and slightly stronger self centre springs, etc....and stronger switches...something that "clicks" into gear. BTW, the shifter on my MR2 is only slightly longer than the shaft+knob on the G25 (that'd be a real car thats close then)
depends how much cash you have. Old toyota MR2 or Mazda MX5 are good fun cars (non turbo, cheap on insurance), as long as you don't need to carry much. If all you want is a daily, the Corolla's are generally good value, if a little dull (unless you get the twin cam/sports versions)
I don't really know many US cars so i can't suggest much more than the ones that are universal...do you get the ford focus XR5 over there?
