I agree with the above.

Yes, some of the public servers (in general) might not have the cleanest driving standards. But that is to be expected when drivers regardless of their skills and/or experiences can join in and race - that IS one of the best features of this sim.

If you're not trying online racing simply because you've heard some bad things about public servers - you really are not getting the best out of LFS. Jump online - do a few races - have fun!

We've had a great evening on cargame.nl S2 with clean racers - fun on AS/KY with GT2 and TBO4s. Just a few mins ago: jump to around the 10 min mark on the attached replay and have a look at the GT2s coming up to lap the TBO4s in the final few turns. Racing with the AI ain't that fun! (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HG2B0O08)

Screenshot taken at a few hundred metres before the finish line. That's what you're missing...

As for the AI - yeah, it needs work - and Scawen mentioned that he had/will updated it. But forget the AI - once you're comfortable with the cars and know the tracks join in and race with us...

--

MJL - Have a go on the well-administrated demo racing servers. The AirAttack/RedLineRacing are good places to start (assuming that you have a good understanding of racing etiquette and can control your car). At first hang at the back of the pack until you get used to the whole online thing (unpredictable drivers, close racing based on ping/lag, other's racing lines). Once you are happy with it have a go at hard racing. It'll be fustrating at first when others who simply dont have a lack of regard crash you out - but in the end the demo racing servers are a better to get you started off (as opposed to racing with LFS AI).

What exactly is not working?

In order to unlock LFS S2, you need to enter the GAMEpassword for the account "Morstan".

If you cannot remember the GAMEpassword you created when you bought the game, you can change it by logging in to lfs.net (as Gav posted above).

You say its still not working:
i) were you able to log-in to lfs.net?
ii) did you enter a new GAMEpassword, re-typed the new GAMEpassword and updated the account details?
iii) as shown in the following screenshot - did you enter your new GAMEpassword and click unlock?
iv) if you get an error message - please take a screenshot and post it here.

Quote from Sobis :You can transfer S2/S1 to other account.

Very interesting; I was under the impression it can't be done...

Can you please tell us the steps that need to be taken to transfer a license?

Thanks for the heads up!

I've looked, but I'm just not seeing it.

I've seen that you've said that its for your "old account", but what we're asking is the name of the license (the LFS ID for the account).

When you buy a license it is tied to the name of the license for all eternity.

i.e. Until you buy a S1/S2 license your current account (the one you're posting here), "Streamliner2" will be a demo account. When you buy S1/S2 it'll be upgraded - the li'l tag under "Streamliner2" here in the forum will say "S1 licensed" etc.

My account is "Silverracer". If I created another account (as you've done here) it will say demo too. The license I've bought is tied to the "Silverracer" account only.

That's why we're asking the LFS ID of the license you've bought (the name of the old account).

A screenshot of the entry screen of your LFS account (the one with access to S2 content) would suffice.

As asked here, for which account did you buy S2?

i.e. "Streamliner"?

Can you take a screenshot of the entry screen and attach it here, so if anything is wrong someone can spot it for you?
(Entry screen is the one with multiplayer, single player, hotlaps etc.)

Quote from Jakg :3 unlocks per week - your S2 license will always let you use S2 content

Isn't that statement misleading? You only get 3 unlocks at first. After you unlock the first time, the maximum number of available unlocks will be 2.

For example lets say you've been using S2 for a while and say you only have 2 unlocks left. For [ENTER REASON HERE] you reinstall LFS three times in the same week - you won't be able to unlock the final time; you wont be able to use the S2 content (you'll have to wait till a Friday to get the unlock).

Of course something like that is rare, but you do hear from people who've kept on reinstalling for some reason or another and found themselves locked out [until next Friday].

Hello and welcome to LFS!

Most of the wheel-setting-up stuff is available on the LFS Manual: http://en.lfsmanual.net/wiki/Options#Setting_up_the_wheel

The basic setting up the controller axes is as follows;

The steering, throttle, brake and clutch are to be assigned as axes. If the handbrake is not releasing itself, that probably means that you've set it as an axis too - go to options > controls and select "button" for the handbrake. Assigning a key is quite easy: on the same screen (under controls > buttons 1) you'll find Handbrake - under the button list for wheel, click on [none] (or the already assigned key) and then press the wheel button you want to use as the handbrake. You'll be able to assign more functions to the wheel buttons in a similar way...

Ah, that info is displayed via a 3rd party application (Airio?) - it can't (or any other 3rd party application for that matter) can't access your LFS license status. So it checks your LFSworld statistics - since you've never driven on S1/S2 cars/track online it thinks that you're a demo-licensed racer.

Nothing to worry about; as soon as you put down a few laps in S1/S2 cars/track online it should update itself. More to the point - Airio is a 3rd party In-Sim application which is used by most race servers and is nothing do with the LFS-developers themselves.

As for the cars being not available in S1/S2 hosts - server owners are using Airio to block out people with lesser online experience from driving in their servers. The online experience is calculated by the distance driven, races won, number of hotlaps uploaded and whole lot of more info as Airio's "LFS Experience Index". Example: http://stats.airio.eu/EXD.aspx?U=victor

Try cargame.nl S1 server. I think you should be able to drive the XFG/XRG at minimum. As you start scoring points and gaining "LFS EI" you should be able to access more cars (FXO, RB4, LX4..) and so on. Eventually you'll have enough points/LFS EI to hop on to the cargame.nl server.

I pointed out cargame.nl servers since they're populated most of the time. Most of the other race servers don't have cars restricted based on LFSEI; just that they've selected a car/track combo for a specific time... Although I believe you would have a hard time finding populated servers in your time zone...

Get your friend to try it for his router, so while you wait to sort it out he can host in his PC and you can race together...

Any specific error messages when attempting to connect to the server? Something like connect timed out?

If that's the case you have to forward your ports on your router. I dont know how it works but its something to do with configuring your router so that when your LFS hosts a game in your pc it will allow your friend to connect.

More info about this can be found in the LFS Manual:
http://en.lfsmanual.net/wiki/H ... rwarding_.2F_Home_Routers

As stated there, go to http://portforward.com/ and locate your router and find the specific changes you need to make a Live for speed server.

Go to LFS world > My online car skins. There should be a link to increase your skin-upload-slots. That link will redirect you to buy skin slots.

If I recall correctly, its 50 skins slots for £1.

PS: I think the minimum payment is £3, so you cant just pay £1 for 50 skin-upload slots. Best option is to buy S1 (where you get 25 skin upload slots anyway), but if you're hard on cash and still want to upload you can do so for £3 - £1 for 50 losts and the remainig £2 will be in your account, which you can use later to buy a license/more slots/high-res downloads etc.

Have fun.

Where exactly does it say "demo"? Can you show a screenshot of it please?

If you can connect to S2 hosts it means that your LFS is unlocked. But your online history over the last few days shows that you've only been connected to demo hosts.

Is the wheel rotation value that you've set in LFS and the two settings in the profiler the same?

Is the wheel turn compensation set to 1?

Hi Jenci,

I know its frustrating when no one replies.

Just checking - have you done all of the following?

http://www.lfs.net/?page=dummies_page

1. You can retrieve your login details to the registered emailed using the link provided (https://www.lfs.net/?page=loginreset). Now, the "thief" might have already changed the email address to one of his/hers. But have you tried it?

2. As stated on that page...
Quote :If your email address has changed since you registered and thus your password cannot be sent to you automatically, you can get your login details back from us,
provided that you can send us proof of purchase, like the purchase receipt email, or a scan of your credit card statement, showing your full name and address and the Live for Speed purchase details (you can hide the rest).

When you wrote to the developers did you included the above, "proof", that they've requested?

3. If you did all that and they still didn't reply, shame on them. If you didn't do any of them - why not?

Since it works with other games (I'm assuming PC) lets say the drivers and calibration is fine.

Are you using the Logitech Profiler? If not, download and reinstall the correct drivers: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/441/5184, calibrate and launch LFS via the profiler.

Info on setting up the wheel is already in LFS Manual:
http://en.lfsmanual.net/wiki/Options#Setting_up_the_wheel

Especially have a look at the following to correctly identify and set up the axes:

If you're still having problems do a quick search on the forum (there are plenty of similar wheel-set up-issues and solutions).

Good luck!

You have to set rotation in 2 settings in the profiler and in-game.

In the profiler under Global Wheel Settings and Specific Game Settings and Options > Controls in LFS.

One of them might be set to 90 at the moment.

In Options > Controls, is the wheel detected by LFS?

Have a look in here:
http://en.lfsmanual.net/wiki/Options#Setting_up_the_wheel

Maybe a reinstall (of the wheel) might help.

Edit: Glad you got it working

Use these settings:
http://en.lfsmanual.net/wiki/W ... tting_up_a_Logitech_Wheel

If you calibrate the wheel during install there's no need to calibrate it again when using the Profiler - each time you plug in the USB it'll do it on its own. Make sure you've setup the the axes/ffb in LFS correctly and it'll be fine...
