Thanks - Not exactly into filming, but more interested in getting into macro photography with something like this without shelling out the big bucks. Probably the guys on the camera showoff threads know if they're any good...

Quote from Ripley :why don't you just keep these updates in one single ever-updated post?

Pretty sure that is what has been done up to now - check out the first post. I think that is the single most edited post in the forum - its constantly being updated since 13th April!

Hi, can you point out a few of "best" setups in there. Would help those of us who are just starting out. Thanks!

Quote from racer autov8 :Yes, of course.

What does someone like you do to need many unlocks in a day?

Hi, have you,
restarted the PC and tried again?
tried a different USB port?
re-installed the Logitech drivers/software and tried again?
tried the G25 on a different PC?

I don't know if it'll help, but try these:

Quote from bbman :Shut down your computer, wait a bit and turn it on again... And then let it do it's calibration (yes, it's supposed to turn all the way to both sides and back to null position)... If it's done that, you can enjoy your wheel...

Quote from bbman :Check the cables and reinstall the drivers... Watch the light when it ends calibration... If the LED stays on and starts blinking after some time, and you checked the cables sit tight, you might have had a short power outage or the wheel short-circuited itself...

Quote from Tweaker :Crank the wheel all the way to the right when the USB is UNPLUGGED. Plug the wheel back in and let it do its self calibration. Do not touch it when it is doing this. It should do several full rotations (normally would do 1).

---

Quote from Poffter :Something quite similar to this happened to me this very evening. I have had the wheel for two days and when I connect it to my comp instead of the another, desktop, it just wouldn't start. The LED would be at a very faint dimly lit condition, probably only visible due to it being completley dark in my room. No wheel-turning(calibration) would occur and the profiler wouldn't work properly.

All of this was solved with removing all drivers, cranking the wheel far right and then reinstalling them. Funny thing is the wheel probably recalibrated itself 5-6 times.

Sounds like power issues - anyone around you have a G25, so that you could use their power adapter and see if your wheel works?

Also try the Logitech forums - there are bound to be others having the same issue (alot of LFS-ers seemed to be having the same problem), and you might be able to get some help from Logitech support.

Good luck, hope you manage to get it fixed!

Hi there, quick question - in LFS' Options > Controls > Axes / FF, is the "Force Feedback" set to "yes"?

If so, is the "Force Strength" (same screen in Options > Controls) set to value higher than "0"?

(FYI, if FF is set to "yes" you can adjust the value using the keys "," and ".".

If the above above isn't working let us know - and we'll see what else might be wrong...

Hmm... I'm not sure if anything has been changed, but as soon as you meet the minimum requirement for any given car - you should be able to drive it.

Try the command;
!infos

Say you do that in cargame.nl S1 server, for FXO (which is a Class 2 car) you will need at least 150 points (!rank) or 200 experience points (LFS EI - which is calculated from your online + hotlap stats) AND a minimum of 60% safety rating (!rate).

Try
!info

to find out how to earn points.

LFS EI: From the Airio website (http://stats.airio.eu/EXP.aspx)
Quote :The LFS Experience Index is a single number representing (or at least trying to represent) driver's abilities. Currently it is calculated by FULL and PROS versions of Airio using only LFS World available data, specifically the table of personal best lap times and laps, the table of personal online statistics, and the table of personal uploaded hotlaps.

The safety rating is crucial: its based on number of cautions (yellow flags) that you are involved in + some other stuff (getting kicked/swearing etc.). Simply try and stay out of trouble - Remember that you will cause a yellow flag if you slow down on track, even if you don't cause and incident.

To see your stats in-server, type !pi.

Every few races check how much points your earning and if you're managing to increase your rating. Good luck!

--- Edit ---

Hmm. I can see why the restrictions do look a bit harsh for new LFS users. However you won't have a problem with the safety rating - dozen or so laps and you'll have the minimum safety rating.

You might have a hard time reaching the required points or the required LFS EI. For those of us who started on the servers a while back there were plenty of drivers with XFG/XRG - so it was easy to gain points if you consistently finish races in relatively good positions. Nowadays however, there are not many drivers with those cars - even when there are they might be lapping significantly faster times than you (therefore you won't be gaining much points even if you finish the race). For those of us who've been driving at various combos over the years (even if it meant not too competitive racing) would have acquire a LFSEI higher than 200.

What I can suggest is that get a good feel for your controller, the car and its handling. You can request setups from other drivers in-server (although some people don't like to share their sets) or you can download setups from http://setupgrid.net/ or http://setupfield.teaminferno.hu/ for the car/track combo of your choice.

Being able to drive fast(er) isn't enough - you'll have to be able to drive amongst other drivers as well (I'm still trying to get the grasp of that!). There are plenty of servers that run XFG/XRG on BL1. Stick to it for a bit and improve your race-craft. Once you can consistently do good laps and race well with others, you won't have too much of a problem switching to other cars. The "Demo" BL1 servers can be a bit of a headache - so make sure you visit a well-administrated one. The [AA] and Redline Racing servers are pretty good. The Redline Racing guys are a pretty helpful lot.
