I don't think anyone has ever stated that this was the case. Most likely, because it's "random", you've seen a 'streak' or two happen which just caused it to appear that the green light times were shorter for smaller grids. I'd say just give it more time and things should even out.

Yes, sadly, it might be easier. Do remember though, that some servers restrict the use of an Auto gear-box, so it's best to learn manual when you start, that way it's all second nature later on

I'd search the forums to see if anything is put in stone. I personally have no idea what the requirements are for having an official user bar added to the forums is. 
The image in my sig is actuall placed there using specific tags for that server. Leagues also have similar sig images, but you are limited to how many you can have in a sig. Custom images aren't allowed though.
The biggest issue with sigs is (go see the WoW forums for a good example) that pages take much longer to load (especially for people on dial-up). That, and a lot of people tend to abuse the privlage, usually though making the worst sigs ever. I suppose that's why it's limited to text (and approved 'user bars').

It's just better without pictures. No one wants to see a page loaded with rediculous pictures each time they read a thread. At least, no one on these forums
4 lines. That seems to change though, especially if you have a link or larger text in your signature. Picture sigs aren't allowed.

It would be nice if somehow LFS split the replay files once you hit the amount of laps that would make the replay too large to upload. Not sure if that's possible though...
I'm sure that you're aware that the game is still in ALPHA stages. That is what the ALPHA means in the name, LFS S2 ALPHA

Check out the Gentlefoot races. You aren't required to be on a team, you just have to be able to follow the rules of the race. For more information be sure to check their website: www.gentlefoot.com

I also didn't much care for the (sand?) texture you had there, just seemed out of place. Try different camera views as well. From the minute or so that I watched, it looked like it was all in the 'race cam' view. Shift+U is your friend
