If you got banned simply because you were drifting when no one was around, I'd have to agree that they are morons.

It's a friggin test server. You know, where you TEST things? Not just racing, but wrecking, sliding, joining, drifting, etc...

Not much you can do about it though I guess.

Could toss in the MRT. I don't see many people race that now days (as compared to much earlier days of LFS). It's not exactly 'fast', but would be a great toy to anyone who grabs the demo

Sadly, the bulk of the racers are from Europe. This means that server activity is based on their time zones, not the US's. Also, it doesn't help that LFS isn't on store shelves in the US (Yes, I know it's not complete), cause it seems that the average US gamer wont know about a game unless it's advertised to death on TV and online before it's released.

So, what you're left with is a bunch of euro racers and a handfull of Americans. Just have to plan accordingly is all

Well, if history shows, it's stuff like that, with the defects, that will sell for a lot more than the 'regular' items on eBay 20 years from now... assuming eBay exists then

And with that, this should be my 100th post. Yay me.... Gawd I've been slacking lol...

Edit: Damn, 101... my bad

When was the last time you cleaned your computer out? From my own experience, it seems when things get more dust on them, the heat build up will drop performance. I could just be imagining that though...

Check background tasks. I run an 'aged' computer as well, and background tasks are my #1 culprit for low framerates in LFS. A good defrag is always a good idea as well if it's been a while.

There's a chance that you could have a bad RAM module, but that's not as likely... see if you can find some sort of software that will test your hardware. SiSoft Sandra is a good suite for that.

Hope something in there helps

Wondering if someone could render this if possible. I fussed around with trying to render, but I need a hell of a lot more practice and learning...

If possible, something like a garage background, or just a plain, dark background would work fine.

Thanks in advance if someone takes the time to do this

I have the same deal everytime I hook the wheel up to play, but I just recalibrate before I race anyway. Never knew about that patch though, ty for that, Gunn

Yeah, Smoke Mod only works on S2

I'm not sure if that's true or not, but you should buy it anyway!

Auto-cancle would be ok (+1) . But I will miss the days of drafting behind 'grandpa' with his left blinker on and not a turn in sight

Quote from frokki :I'd hunt a momo (red or black) from ebay - it's really the only option, and for £50 it's possible to get even a DFP . Buying a crap wheel is like vomiting in your dinner.

Trust me, it's best to wait until you have what you want, otherwise you'll just wind up spending more to replace the one you should of never bought in the first place. Be sure you at least get one that clamps to your desk and has pedals. Those 2 things should be the very least you expect from a wheel.

I personally use the Logitech Momo (black version [newest Momo]). You can find them online from $90-110 new and cheaper used.

Be warned though, with the topic of this thread, you might have everyone suggesting everything. So, it might be in your best interest to post what your price range is, then we can start some better suggestions from there

I know this isn't a picture, but I had the video already made. This wasn't intentional 2 wheels, I had wrecked early in the race and just did some practice laps after the pit, came in a tad too shallow and you'll see the result.

The vid is about 1min40sec long, slow motion from external and interior. Music is rather soothing also. Enjoy.

I'm done. Puttin the wheel in the closet and waiting for the next patch. I'm beyond pi**ed now.

Sorry if I wrecked you tonight, it was due to the awesome stutter BS.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! :bitehard:

Try regearing the car a bit to work more power to the lower gears (faster accel), this will keep the wheels spinning longer.

Try not to rely on the handbrake, use it more for situations where you might be overspeeding and need to slide earlier than usual, or if you're understearing into a corner you can use the handbrake to get the rear out.

What tire pressures are you using? The harder your tires, the easier it is to slide the car, but they also heat up faster.

Try using a locked differential. This puts equal amounts of power to both drive wheels and is usually easier to keep them spinning as you wont have one tire catch grip and slow your drift.

It would help if you could post a replay of your attempts though, that way someone can look at it and suggest a different method of drifting that particular corner. As is, I'm not sure which corner you're talking about. There's many smaller corners that you can drift with the XRG just fine, and the longer ones where you might get half way around the corner before regaining all grip.

Hope that helped a bit

Here's a site also to help with setups.

You'll find a lot of people running setups from that site as well

lol, it's ok man

As for 56k, I'm hardly familiar with that anymore to be honest. I can't imagine why you'd have problems unless you were running a firewall and that was blocking UDP protocol.

I hate to be of completely no help here, but that's what it's lookin like. Sorry man, hopefully a 56ker or someone might know why that protocol would fail for you. Until then, best I can offer is make sure all drivers are up 2 date, your modem might be a Winmodem (software based) so make sure those drivers are new as possible. Do all window's updates and run a spyware app just in case. Best advice I can offer
