Just updated the headlights and "removed" the indicators. This means that they don't work anymore, but who needs??

Do you think it's worth the update?

Btw, I did some fine work at the rear lights also, just for your to know.

Quote from Dudles :I'll keep saying that you should try to edit the corner lights either... it looks awesome ( your edits ) but it's like looking to a 1976 Ford Fiesta fitted with the new GT3RS Porsche Carrera's headlights.

Well, that would be blasphemy then.

The main problem is that the indicator should also look good when flashing and not blue or green or anything else than orange (also yellow looks weird somehow). But otherwise, how often do people really indicate their direction or put their warning lights on?

Maybe I should really try that ... I'll keep you informed.

Cheers

Quote from e2mustang :i Love your jobs mate, they are rly amazing

Thank you very much, that's very pleasant. Nevertheless I try to develop myself farther and hope to always come up with new things - btw. the thing with the fog was the first time I tried that. I'm suprised it came out so well.

Finally I could post the DDS - due to reasons I don't understand the file wasn't uploaded properly yesterday evening, so I tried again and now it should work.

Quote from Takumi_lfs :hmmm. Any experienced photoshop user can help him?

Maybe I could try so ... firstly add a layer with a gradient from gray (where the fog is thickest, usually above horizon) to transparent (nearest to camera position) which simulates the fog's thickness the greater the distance is. Then erase some parts manually with different opacities, sizes and shapes of the brush which simulates that the fog isn't homogeneous. Finally, try to add two overlaping, somewhat perspective cones of light with light gray (or light blue which helps to simulate xenon lights), negatively multiplied.

After all you should bring up a similar result as I've attached.

Don't think so - you supplied a good base to work with! So I did a quick edit and I hope you like it.

And once more the XFR with the classic McLaren-Mercedes "Silberpfeil" skin inspired from the late 1990s ...

Btw, sorry for the oversized name all over the car, but due to tobacco advertising restrictions I simply did it the same way McLaren has been doing it for many seasons, writing "Mika", "David", "Fernando" & Co. in VERY capital letters ...

Unfortunately, I'm not having access to the file at the moment, but in a few days I will. Nevertheless I'd like to use the time to collect some opinions, so please continue commenting, criticising etc.

Quote from Dudles :i think it's good... but i have a feeling that something is missing... maybe changing the corner light for a "futuristic" one...

I'm afraid this isn't possible due to LFS's restrictions of car model texturing ... no chance of getting rid of the yellowish corners ...
So they will always be yellow and that's exactly the opposite of "futuristic" - you will agree.

XF Headlights - Audi Metroconcept inspired

Hello again,

and immediately to the next: Headlights for the XFG / XFR in the recently introduced Audi Metroconcept design.

Don't they make the XF look like a car from tomorrow?

*EDIT*: Added the download link - as usual, extract the file into the DDS folder, but don't forget to backup your old file first.

FZ Headlights - Murciélago Style
smove

Hi folks,

just played a little bit around in the last hours, resulting in some new headlights for the FZ50/FZR:
Inspired by the angry looking Lamborghini Murciélago I think these give the FZ series a similar, more aggressive and modern look.

*EDIT* So here's the file - sorry for the delay!

As you surely know, simply extract the file in the DDS folder, but don't forget to backup the original file first.

Quote from Lible :Just 2 posts from yours

Upload all your modifications to LFS-Database, Highsider didn't/doesn't have time to manage both LFS-Database's and Forum's database at the same time.

Seems like a dumb question now ... but ... how does that work?
Couldn't find any upload function, so I guess I have to contact the admins? (Or am I just blind??? )
New Audi A4 styled headlights for FXO/FXR

Hi folks,

just created some hi-res headlights (including rearlights) for the FXO/FXR in the look of the forthcoming, incredibly beautiful Audi A4.

I think these new headlights give the FX a face ... somehow ...
Tell me what you think - and I would be really happy if you could add these to the database.

Best regards

Quote from Loadus :A little continuation to this texture thingy ..

I wrote a pixel shader (for another project) and I wanted to test it on LFS. The shader makes any video/game look more "gritty" with the same method I used on the textures. The result was kinda interesting, so I decided to put the test online:

- The audiolevels are kinda loud, so better ease on the volume before loading -

By the way, what are your camera settings in the vid? Definitely gives LFS the realistic feeling of an onboard camera. I guess you used a narrow view angle (around 70°?) at first, but what are your settings for the "Acceleration shifts viewpoint"?

Thanks in advance + cheers

Quote from Sketchyrollin564 :

Mabey when S3 is along, LFS will be so far in technolagy that we will see the little pit crew members actually clean the windsheild. Now THAT would be freaking cool

We already had that 11 years ago: Perfectly programmed and stunning looking (if not even photo-realistical) ... remember good old Microprose Grand Prix 2? That IS freaking cool!

Hi Android,

I've got a further idea:

What about the possibility to ROLL your view in turns, adjustable positive/negative. Because when I drive a car quickly around a corner, I have the feeling that the car and everything around it roll (which is the case infact, only with the g forces increasing this feeling), and so you roll your head in the opposite direction to compensate – can you imagine what I mean?

Expressed in a simpler way: The horizon doesn't remain a horizontal line within a turn. It tilts the higher the g forces are. To customize that, I would like to have the opportunity to setup if the angle is positive or negative.

That would really kick me.

Best regards and thanks for putting so much effort in your tool!

I'd also be satisfied with fantasy cars - if they'd get a way more beautiful look!

In my opinion many of the cars are not really nice to look at, especially the RB4 or the XR. They somehow look old and unfashioned, ugly. Some other cars like the FZ50 rather seem like a programmed blend of different cars than designed cars - mixes of Porsche shapes with Ferrari lights.

A lot of a car's fascination comes from its outlook - take the recent Aston Martins: In my eyes the perfect looking women would be a DB9 as a car - fascinating, sexy shapes and curves meet aggressive styling elements (Headlights) as well as "cool" ones, like the AM's "boomerang" backlights for example.
Or take a brand like Lamborghini with its compilation of basic shapes that are put together to masterpieces of car design.

I mean there are LFS cars that don't need to have a changed look, like the UF1000 - it's cute like a mini and it's got carisma: It CAN look old. But then take the XR: It's got the look of a mid-80s RX-7. Or the FXO as a mid 90s Civic. And so on ...

Being an amateur car designer myself, I'd really like to suggest some new designs or improve the ones already being in LFS. And all the other designers out there should also have the opportunity to show their creativity. Having designed a nice car for LFS would maybe also attract some real car manufacturers, wouldn't it?

I want to see FANTASYcars!
I want to see NICE cars!
I want to see cars that COULD be on our roads TODAY!
I want it all!

Opinions?

Cheers
