anybody here wants to race two 30+ year old blokes in approx. an hour? We are exclusively racing using RACE_S setups and it would be welcome if you did so, too.
The server will be "Race_S Wars", password will be "blackday", and we'll start racing the LX4.
Track textures should be stock if I'm correct, and for the sky I use this one that's based on a panorama texture I found on the web. If you'd like to use it you need to convert it to RAW, though.
It's always great when father and son can share their interests and create something together, benefiting from each other. May LFS live on long and in prosper, and so may you and your dad!
I decided to give the Kyoto surroundings a small overhaul and put them into a little more alpine setting.
All you need to do is to replace the file HGAmount.dds in your LFS/data/dds folder by the one in the attached ZIP file. Please don't forget to save a backup of your original file first!
Ah well, let's call it a day and see what tomorrow brings. Thank you very much for your time and support so far! Much appreciated!
UPDATE: Not so well. After investigating a bit I found out that port forwarding is simply not possible according to my internet/cable provider (which is Unitymedia btw.). The reason is IPv6 and DS-lite. Hosting a server here seems to be possible only with having a business rate ...
Okay, I changed the entries in the Firewall to 127.0.0.1. The website for checking if the port is open still denies that, unfortunately. LFS server is open, though, but I guess nobody will still be able to join ...
In the Windows Firewall: 192.168.1.1 (which is the Netgear's IP according to network overview)
In the Fritz!Box settings: the same
In the Netgear settings: 192.168.1.3 (the PC's IP address)
It still doesn't work ... hmmm ... What's the fault?
The funny thing is: The Fritz!Box keeps on telling me that the device establishing the internet connection has the 192.168.178.25 ... what does that mean?
Could it relate to the adressed IP maybe? In the Windows Firewall it's 127.0.0.1, in the Fritz!Box configuration it's 192.168.178.25 and in the Netgear config it's 192.168.0.3 ... which is the right one?
Yes, ports are open, on the windows firewall as well as on the Fritz box I'm using. There's one thing left maybe: I'm using a Netgear router behind the Fritz Box, do I need to open the ports there as well?
Possibly easy to implement and a gain for immersion:
What do you think about starting a training session without the engine already running (except formula cars maybe)? I think "turning the key" virtually would instantly boost the connection to the car – at least it would do for me!
inspired by some old grand prix circuits I created a fast track around the outskirts of Westhill. I tried to make it as fluent as possible; nevertheless there are one or two sharper corners you should be aware of.
It contains a 20 car grid and working pits so it should be fun online, too! Feel free to open a server and post laptimes if you like.
