How do you know that? Do you really think everyone would still choose to pay for a license if somebody was able to take the code, rewrite it so the official master server is not involved and then distribute it for free? It's hard enough to get demo users to buy licenses when they only have 3 cars, give them all of the cars/tracks and it would be impossible.
The whole point of open source is that anybody can change anything without permission.
Hardly, the suspension parts on the hydraulic Citroens are surprisingly cheap, and on the later models (Xantia onwards) the system is pretty reliable.
Working on the system is also simple, I replaced the front spheres on my Xantia for £35 including the tool I needed to do it, and it's easier than changing the headlight bulb.
It'll only seem expensive if you make the mistake of getting a garage to do the work, because they will convince you it's difficult when it really isn't.
I think your main insurance problem is where you live. Manchester is probably very high up the risk scale for insurance companies.
Have a look at Citroens. Mechanically they'll run forever, but check for stupid broken things like faulty window switches and other electric parts. They're not massively quick, but they are massively cheap and massively comfortable. I bought a Xantia 1.9TD a couple of years ago for £137, perfect mechanically but like I said it had some stupid electronic problems (one door wouldn't unlock, one window wouldn't open and the rev counter didn't function). Driving it was like driving and armchair, eventually I sold it (for £200 with over 200k miles!), but now I miss it.
He's 'borrowed' an F2007 from someone in the Ferrari Clienti programme, which is where you can 'buy' Ferrari F1 cars, only Ferrari keep them and decide when/where you use them.
Unless he owns his own personal F2008 & support team, and/or his own personal F60 simulator, he's not going to be able to get any practise in. We're all packing up and going home for two weeks.
He's lucky he managed to regain consciousness in time to slam on the brakes and down the gears.
Had he been knocked out and kept the throttle open he would be dead. Even in a 2009 F1 car three rows of tyres aren't going to keep you alive at 200mph.
Can we get some weather information added to the GP threads? Something along the lines of weather for the past 5 years, and maybe a forecast for the weekend?
I'm tearing my hair out listening to my PC friend going "is this good?" "what about this?" "what psu do I need?" when I haven't been interested in building computers for a while now.
Anybody know any good websites with up-to-date information of decent systems at varying price points?
If they really think that replacing a very skilled driver will solve their problems then they are very much mistaken. STR are obviously nowhere when it comes to getting their car ready, or Buemi would be destroying Bourdais, which isn't happening.
What I think is most likely is that Bourdais is expensive (mature, experieinced, skilled) and Alguersuari is cheap/free (young, lots of sponsors)
I'm very worried about Donnington ending up like the A1 Ring.
If Bernie decides he wants to stay at Silverstone, Donnington loses the only reason for the refurbishment and probably most of its financial backing. With no money the work will stop and we'll be stuck with a half finished track in a state where no racing can take place and therefore no money can be made to finish it or even get it to useable quality.
Looking at FP1 it looks like RB were running low fuel, then Brawn decided to also run low fuel as a comparison. FP2 looks like RB were still lower than everyone else.
