Quote from Christofire :Don't bother with all that. Get VMWare's server/player and download one of the pre-installed virtual machines. There's a few distributions available (e.g. ubuntu), and it's the easiest way to try it. If you don't like it your WinXP install will be as it was.

Surely the easiest way would just be a Live CD?

That skin is amazing. Good job.

Nitpicking, I thought Renault used OZ wheels? The ones in the render are BBS.

Quote from Niels Heusinkveld :So what is the truth about hardware changes? For a while there was talk about adding a graphics card or changing the mobo making your license invalid so you had no choice to buy Vista again?

Replacing your motherboard has always made your license invalid. Microsoft classes the motherboard as the computer, so a new mobo is a new computer to them. The only way you can get around it is if your motherboard dies.

400bhp? I'd say what it needs next is 200bhp less.

I had RC1 on my computer from September until yesterday. I wouldn't buy it for at least a year. As it is now there isn't enough support for it, peripheral-wise. My TV tuner didn't work (which is why I went back to XP), Logitech wheels have no FF, countless games won't run, and those that do run slower. It's just not ready for people outside of offices.

Going back to your original question, the iMac is a surprisingly good gaming machine. I do all my gaming on a 17" 2.0 C2D iMac with only 1GB of RAM. I can have everything in LFS turned to max, and it runs GTL and GTR2 great (not that I ever play them).

Quote from duke_toaster :It would be a helluva lot more coding. And eerily quiet.

Actually, for the deaf and hard of hearing, all cars should have to be above a set volume (I.E. most hybrid car makers would have to put a buzzer (possibly one that increases with speed) on their cars as they are dangerously quiet).

My sister works for Lexus customer services. A Lexus owner tried to blame Lexus because they ran over their dog in their RX hybrid, saying the dog must have not heard the car.

I have no problem with drifters, if it makes people happy then I don't see it as an issue.

However, I'd LOVE some tarmac rally stages, who doesn't love blasting up and down country lanes and mountain roads? The ability to do that without constantly fearing an oncoming lorry in the middle of the road would be worth paying for LFS all over again.

Keep in mind that most of the older Apple displays need an ADC-VGA or ADC-DVI adapter.

For £50, I've no idea what I'd get, because I'd never spend that little on a monitor. I'd rather spend more for a monitor that'd be better and probably last longer.

Have you looked on places like dabs.com, scan.com, micro-direct.com and so on?

Quote from XCNuse :theres 1 thing i find absolutely great about the LFS AI... they actually crash; or you can actually crash them, in any other racing games i play, you could whack the hell out of them and they'd keep the same direction

Are you serious? The AI are like solid blocks, hitting them always ends in disaster.

90º left, 90º right, so 180º in total.

Yeah, I didn't know that until I bought it.
If I can't get rid of the damn thing, help me set it up.

I've got a Formula Force RX wheel that nobody seems to want, so I figured I might as well keep it.

If there's anyone out here with this wheel or a similar one, what sort of settings do you use to keep things controllable? Because it only turns 90º, I have a lot of problems with over-correcting just by turning it a few degrees.

It's a shame that people within the LFS community will steal things so obviously. I went online over the christmas holidays for the first time in 3 months, in the first server I visited I saw someone with a skin that looked like one of my older ones. I thought nothing of it to begin with, there must be loads of carbon-fibre FOX skins. But when I got closer I noticed the small Union Flag that I put on all my skins by the driver, and the yellow mirrors, and the size/weave of the fibre. It HAD to be my skin.

I asked the driver where he got it, and he said "I got it from a skinning website", I said "That's funny, I made that skin and it was never public", he said "Really? It's nice". I let him carry on, because I have no plans to ever use it again, but I told him he should think again before using skins from his skins_x folder, or any that aren't his.

I'm used to my current FOX skin (camo) being stolen, which gets on my nerves, I love that skin.

Those signs definitely need sorting out. They'd never be allowed to be that solid under FIA rules. Hitting them should be like hitting nothing at all (except they should crumble)

From what you're saying, it seems you haven't been notified yet. So you were driving along and you saw it flash? Bummer. But hopefully it'll make you realise there's a time and a place for driving fast... wherever there aren't speed cameras! (jk)

Also, just because it's flashed, you haven't necessarily been caught, but you probably have.

edit: I got one 4 months after I started driving for doing 37 in a 30 limit. I was approaching a 40 limit, and the nice policeman was catching anybody who dared speed up to early. It's definitely made me slow down, if only because 2 speeding tickets means a lost license for a new (<2 years) driver.
