Quote from Forbin :If you're a rookie, you only have to wait to the end of the rookie season, which only lasts 4 weeks. I ended up joining in the middle of week 4 of a rookie season and got promoted that weekend.

Most people at best can be 1337... you seem to be LEEB, one step ahead of the rest

AJRose becomes a Radical!!!!!!

RSR is delighted to be able to welcome in AJRose to the team as a full member. After successfully completing his trial period, AJ has joined us as a full member.

Mr Roselli has been driving in quite a few events and has proved to be a great and fun addition to the Radical Lineup.

AJ is known for being a bit of a "Mean Machine" while on the race track and tearing past the competition. We hope his new starring role with us will prove to be as much a success as his film roles

Welcome to the team AJ!

Quote from Crommi :First I record it with fraps full resolution (1280x1024), then do what I need to do in Premiere and export it as Uncompressed avi which I open up in Virtualdub to crop it into Youtube widescreen format and use FFDShow (still within Virtualdub) to compress it using h.264 compression with 2000 bitrate.

You could probably use little higher bitrate too but since Youtube does recompression anyways to roughly ~2k, there won't be major difference in quality to make it worth having much larger filesize that takes even longer to upload.

the RAW avi must be huge!

Hahaha.... thats awesome mate what do you use to compress your video down but keep HD resolution?

I just love the legend on road and almost all from iracing can race it... loads of fun

Quote from UncleBenny :Yeah I know, but my point was that in a real life race putting a wheel off can have much worse consequences than in sim racing. I agree that the 1x seems like overkill if you get right back on the track with no incident, but if there was no penalty for it then no one would worry about going off the track pushing the car too hard. I think their strictness with the 1x forces you to drive a little bit more like you would have to in real life.

yeah, I know where you're coming from. One example would be on Laguna Seca where you come round the last left hander and on to the straight. YOu are perfectly in control but your right tyres are on the far green tarmac and you get an incident point! Bloody annoying.

However, someone said to me, why worry about it. It's based on averages and if you carry on the race and do a certain number of clean laps after that, the incident point becomes superfluous to SR due to the clean laps!

Quote from PMD9409 :DP (IMO) feels almost too easy to drive. It handles so good. I don't know, maybe it's me/setups.

The radical is like the FO8 in LFS, and the DP is like the FOX. Just the DP is faster than the Radical . Anyone else feel like the radical is the harder/more fun car to drive?

Oh, and both cars can be cured of their understeer really easily after a few setup changes.

Have you tried the Legend Road series PMD? Bloody good fun.

Quote from Crommi :Radical's understeer can be cured, but I think there's something going on with front suspension that isn't quite right. I haven't driven it in a long time but it seems that people are still having major problems getting setups dialed in and sounds like DP is actually much easier car to drive.

I was just watching this video on the Radical at Laguna.... seemed to sort out the understeer there. Great place to view the "how to"

Quote from tinvek :i never liked oval racing on LFS but after the mazda last week at milwakee i cant help thinking that all those requests for a short oval on LFS had a good point

Couldn't agree more. Watching the Kyoto 250 the other week said oval can be great for LFS but it desperately needs a new couple of purpose made oval tracks like lanier or martinsville style to add to the KY1! DOn't tell Doorman though or he might have to go back to his true racing sim, trackmania

Quote from UncleBenny :I tested it at Lowes and Texas actually, and hated it on those tracks. Then I tried out South Boston and enjoyed it there, so pretty much exactly the opposite of you. Its possible I just need more adjustment time on the bigger ovals.

I hated the stock setups for that car... I've gone in to the setup forum for the silverado and downloaded a couple of setups from there and found them to be much better..... make sure to warm the tyres up some first before going for the 30.6 on Lowes

Quote from Linsen :Yeah, we can't think for ourselves anymore, completely lost sane judgement and worship the tin god called iRacing. We also believe in the unique legitimacy of our creed and that people like you must be purged. We're a sect, end of story.

Amazing to think iRacing was influenced by the spirit of Ron Hubbard

Quote from AlienT. :Keep trying mate you'll be an Alien like me one day :P (I really do wish I hadn't called myself frikkin Alien on here! I didn't know what it meant at the time, it was my online poker name).

I want to know how someone can manage a 1:18 in the Radical at Laguna.....! Best I have got so far is a 1:22, go on Andy see if you can beat that??

I'm going to use the LM for learning oval, too many fast and dangerous folks in the truck!

Have you tried the LM on a road course,? It would be a drifters dream car. It is actually a lot of fun. We need more tin top road cars.

hahaha, ok, I'm going to try that but I doubt I can get near your Radical time mate...... 1.23.3 after 6 laps. 1.18 is a no-no
The Silverado is awesome on oval! Never thought I'd find oval so much fun as I have with the kick arse system they now have on iRacing.

I did make a post in the feedback section of the iRacing forum for Ron though...... about the SR incident points.. one comment was very justified:

Then there would be a bunch of guys saying "I never ran off the track and I got a 1X, What the @#$%!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Very true... would get more naggers -

Quote from AlienT. :Got to admit the iracing forums make some interesting reading. You've got professional racing drivers arguing with professional race engineers who are arguing with sim racers about whether the set-up options are real or not and how they compare to the real world

Actually I'm very impressed with the resumes of a lot of iRacings members.

What I can gather from all this is that setting up a car is defiantely not an exact science either in real life or in a simulation. No matter how many text books on motor engineering you read doesn't mean your going to find that 'ultimate' set up any time soon.

Anyway back to munching on popcorn...!

Wish I could get a 30.6 quali at Lowes with the Silverado :O::O

Quote from Rappa Z :Considering I got the 3-month discount available I think I'll be trying IRacing again. A shame they make you use the discount before an expiration date though, wanted to wait for the Lotus 79 to come out.

Not to mention the last time I tried it I had an old barely working graphics card, I couldn't stay in the menus for more than 5 sec before the game crashed. Hopefully the new card will be better.

good luck - hope the new card works I get to try my new PC with it in a couple of weeks. Can't wait to try the shadows on

Quote from AlienT. :

Oh yes it is a pain in the arse especially at higher license levels when it becomes tricky to keep your SR up.

I did laugh my head off just after you got your class B and took to the radical and went down to I think just below 2 on the SR - hahahahaha!

Quote from PMD9409 :Isn't the green messages 'nagging' you a good thing? I mean come on, you made a mistake, and you complain about it rubbing it in? I know you are old guys, (:razz so act like it.

I see the message, I get mad, but then I realize how stupid I (ME!) was to do it in the first place. And sooner or later I don't get anymore.

Don't blame the system for showing you what you did wrong, blame yourself for doing 'the' wrong.

That's utter crap... you're PMD... you never make a mistake!!!!

Quote from Doorman :There's no arguing with them once iRacing has got them under its spell. iRacing is perfect, end of story.

not perfect Ron..... It's got loads wrong with it but they do a lot to keep momentum of fixing and adding!

Quote from The Moose :Rubbish! Every time you get an incident (even a 0x) you get a nag.

My brother is on 4.99 SR but he still cant stand the fact that it nags you every time you have an incident.

I totally agree with Doorman... iRacing just needs to tell you after the session how many incident points you had...not during a session.

There's nothing more annoying than having a green nag flash up in the middle of a race when your trying to concentrate. ffs, you know when you've put a wheel off the track or made contact with someone. you don't need iRacing telling you off for it just to rub it in. All the SR stuff could easily be reported to you when the session is over.

Agree with ya mate but..................

I agree it would be a great option but I have done a search AND have not seen anyone here make it as a suggestion in the feedback forum so that is an option you can choose on. I know after much criticism for voice chat in race, they changed that so you could deselect it in a race.

Less nag and maybe a suggestion in the feedback forum

Quote from richard dk :There will always be people who dislikes things and even I doesn`t like everything, not even in iRacing. But I can cope with it and still enjoying my racing..

I has never ever seen a guy taken out constantly. And if there is, there must be something wrong.
I had also been taken out and had a bad race and got 12 Inc. points (in road) but I got the SR back in no time. It`s also about my driving and doing the right things my self. I must adapt to the situations on the track. And shit will happen at some point. I don`t know the numbers of people who has problems with the SR ( I think the last time we had a promotion to the next license, only two failed, IF i`m remembering it correct), I just know that all the danish guys who is racing in iRacing is very well secure in the SR, no one has been demoted to a lower license because of their SR, but I know at least one who didn`t get his promotion because he forgot to do the 4 TT or 4 races in the season.. .

Yes you can be an innocent part in a collision, and so what? The next race will be better... IRL your car are destroyed and you must pay for the repair even you are innocent, in iRacing you are only loosing a little bit of SR, but you are not loosing money..
I think I can find statistic for how many there is under 2.0 in SR. Will find it later.

The right thing to do is to forget about SR and just race. A couple of weeks before the season ends, look at you SR and if it is below 3.0, then it will only take you a very few races to get it above 3.0 so you can get your next license. Your CPI is very easy if you are below 2.99 - or even at 1.99

yeah, you're right

So what is your favourite road and oval car and WHY?????

I'll start....

Road - Mazda Single Seater - I just love the extra downforce and the feel of the car when on the edge.... awesome!
Oval - Chevy Silverado - the sound alone makes me smile! The iRacing oval system for racing is absolutely wicked!
