Does 1080p make films and TV shows be less shit?

I can imagine it makes them look a bit less shit, but they are still just as shit as they are on any TV.

The last TV I bought, I got it for £15 from the British Heart Foundation shop.

Quote from Ales_M :Yeah im (was) also trying to connect ppls houses, so feel free to connect to that bridge.

It runs the whole way around my house so there are plenty of places to connect.

I might run a minecart up to it, I'm sick of the long walk up my stairs anyway.

Quote from Shotglass :biggest problem with the iphone is the ui is something from last century
true you get something very similar on android once you open the applications menu but the desktop itself is miles ahead

And they're now trying to shoehorn in all the more intuitive features from Android, while retaining their over-simplified (or 'elegant' if you're an Apple fanboy) UI, and the thing is starting to look a bit un-intuitive and unwieldy.

TBH though Apple have made a lot of money out of seemingly 'elegant' interfaces that were in actual fact just lacking features or stupid.

I think if Google fix their Market, and manage to control some of the fragmentation issues they're having with different devices and developers, they are likely to steal the majority of the phone market away from Apple over the next year or two. Android phones are already outselling iPhones something like three to one.

iPhones are alright, Android phones are alright, Blackberries are going the way of the dinosaur from what I've seen recently.

The nice thing about iPhone is if you use other Apple devices the whole ecosystem operates in a very slick way, so long as you like the Apple way of doing things.

The nice thing about Android is you get more freedom to make the phone work the way you want, and you get a large choice of phones.

I can understand the appeal of the iPhone for Mac users but I think the HTC Desire is a better phone than the iPhone 4. I use a Mac for 90% of my computing now but I still prefer Android phones.

Typing, playing guitar and playing piano - quickly - are all examples of 'muscle memory' and they require progressively less brain activity to perform, so it's not really a matter of quickest brain-to-finger activity.

That said: Typing requires the least physical movement of all three, so typing would be fastest.

Between guitar and piano it depends to some extent on the music: Rapid repetitions of the same note would be faster on a guitar (either an up- and down-stroke of the pick, or thumb and three fingers all striking the same note in rapid succession), whereas - for example - a repeated figure involving a series of notes which fall conveniently for a pianist would probably be faster on piano. A repeated pair of chords would probably be faster to perform on piano too.

But generally, piano requires more force to sound the notes, so it's a slower activity than playing the guitar.

Quote from tristancliffe :It's like he's unlearning everything that made him so popular with a lot of people.

Nah it's just he knew, and everybody knew, he should've had pole and the win, so he was desperately trying to prove a point.

TBH I wouldn't blame him for making some banzai dives to try to rescue his season, but to sulk when he gets penalised for it is a bit childish.

Quote from Uke :What is pointless about endless stacks of tnt?

I'm just saying, my mob trap isn't unmanageably big and I've got a chest full of sulphur out of it already. Which I'm still trying to decide what to do with - I can't just blow the shit out of everything because a load of people have got mineshafts under my house.

Quote from Uke :Nah.. Some nub (hpski) left a dirt bridge inside my mob trap, tons of mobs get stuck there and I can't fix it with all the mobs on

Mobs won't spawn within 20something blocks of a player, so you could clear them out unless it's a massively (pointlessly) large mob trap. I've had to go back into mine sometimes and with a bit of hacking with a sword and hanging some torches quickly it's fine.

Or if your trap is just way too big, just wall off the broken bit and forget about it.

Job done.

New Beasties album, it's actually pretty good after a couple of listens, too heavy-handed on the mastering though unfortunately.

Quote from ATHome :What's so special about a goth girl that you really need to mention it?

Relativity.

'Hot goth girl' is like 'Hot girl' but with the addition of:
  • Nose rings, impaled nipples and other elective disfigurements
  • Novelty clothing
  • Cat urine smell
  • Hairy armpits
As you can see, the word 'goth' is actually an important differentiating factor.

Quote from TehPaws3D :If I'm almost 50FT from a car why should I signal? I shouldn't need a giant lightbulb to get someones attention that has absolutely no purpose other than merging and turning on unmarked roads, Most turns I do are unsignaled, But are always mirrored and double checked.

Distance from cars is irrelevant. Pedestrians will be looking at your signals too, it's also good to signal even if your road position suggests where you're going to go, because there are a lot of drivers who don't know where they're going and change lanes suddenly, so most (good) drivers won't assume you're going where you look like you're going until you either signal or you actually go there, by which time they might've missed an opportunity to pull out or got had to slow down for traffic in their lane or whatever.

Signalling is useful to other people, that's why you should do it, no matter how far away they are or whether they are on the road or on foot.

I got this bass as part of a job lot of stuff for £550. I'm keeping the bass and a pair of Mackie monitors, shifting the rest and I'll probably end up having spent about £100 on the bass itself.

It's a USA Fender with an AllParts neck on it, it's worth around £7-800, and more importantly it's a really good player.

Quote from P5YcHoM4N :Marlboro make shark lasers? Hot damn, got to get me one of those! Tell me more of this fantastic product.

Probably free if you smoke enough Marlboros. I got a neat fluorescent lantern out of them, and a Victorinox knife which I managed to nearly detach the tip of my index finger with (whilst installing new pickups in my bass. Several weeks later when I'd recovered enough to play the bass it sounded sweeeeet.)

Quote from BlueFlame :If you LOVE somebody, you will get married. If you don't wanna get married to them, you don't love them enough.

You haven't brought any logic to bear on this argument. The word 'because' is conspicuously absent from everything you have to say.
