£320 on bass strings.

A full set of Cordes Lambert synthetic gut strings (three G strings: heavy, medium, light; plain D, bronze wound A and plain A, bronze wound E).

Gamut Pistoy organic gut G, Gamut Pistoy organic gut D, Velvet Garbo A, Velvet Garbo E.

I've had excellent bass guitars that cost less than a set of double bass strings. I thought I was being smart having two basses but it's just twice as expensive to re-string...

Realistically Arsenal are never going to compete with the Manchester clubs or Chelsea to sign the very best players because they just don't have the finances. Wenger already worked that out years ago which is why he doesn't pursue them.

The club has developed well in the last ten years though. They have a bigger international following than they've ever had, they have an amazing new stadium (and they're already considering ways to expand it), profits are good, league performances are consistently good.

It's been a while since the days of Bergkamp and Henry but hey, look at Liverpool - it wasn't long ago that they had Xabi Alonso, Mascherano, Arbeloa, Torres when he was actually good, etc. Now look at them. And has changing managers every 18 months helped them improve their league performances?

They used to be the biggest club in England. For a couple of decades. That's just how it goes.

Wenger's had some very average signings in recent years but he's been forced into a bad position in the market due to star players leaving. Still, Cazorla has performed way above expectations, and there is still lots of talented young players pushing their way into the first team. To lose two players like Fabregas and Van Persie would make a big dent in any team but to Wenger's credit they still look like finishing in the top four, assuming Chelsea beat Spurs anyway.

Some Arsenal fans seem to think with a new manager they would waltz their way to premier league titles, they seem to forget the money that Chelsea and Man City have got. And bear in mind Wenger's had the whole stadium development happen during his tenure which sapped their finances and yet he still qualified for the champions league every season.

He's a very talented manager and I can't think of anyone who would do a better job.

TBH the first thing you'll build is a small room with a hole in the ground where you go to find resources. And for a while what you'll build is slightly nicer versions of that. It'll be a long time before you start thinking of grand plans.

Unless you're playing 'creative mode', which turns Minecraft into a very basic graphics program. Like Paint. But more basic.

What a weird thing to be arguing about. It was a great game and Real deserved to lose just because of what a prick Sergio Ramos is. I barely even noticed what a prick Cristiano Ronaldo is, which is saying something.

I didn't know they did a 1.4 estate. I've got a 1.6 saloon and that's pretty weak, I imagine the 1.4 estate struggles.

Quote from Mackie The Staggie :From the ugly.....to the beauty of the game

Well that's what they signed him for. He was doing it every week at Arsenal.

As for Suarez, well yeah, he's a bit of a dickhead, and apparently a bit of a psychopath. Should he be banned from playing football though?

I think he's genuinely got a mental illness and the club should sort it out. There's no point in the English FA banning him because he'll just go play somewhere else and do the same thing again. He needs treatment. Plus of course he's one of the best forwards in the world and it would be a shame if he went to play somewhere else.

Meanwhile, someone bring back Balotelli. This season has been dull without him.

Quote from sinbad :Heh I was having a laugh. Seriously though, I would prefer a game set in the low-tech era of World War 2.

Battlefield 1942 worked so well precisely because it was low-tech. Battlefield 2 was a ****ing disaster because it accurately portrayed how infantry are totally ineffective now, so on most maps you got six people fighting and 58 teamkilling eachother at the aircraft spawns, and when the Wake Island map came out it really drove home how ****ed the game was. BF3 they nerfed the air power a bit but it's still less interesting than BF1942 was, just prettier.

In short: I agree with you. But most of the people here won't remember BF1942 or how awesome it was. Now it looks like Battlefield is the new FIFA and we'll have constant churn and cash-grabbing in return for barely recognisable improvements.

Yeah there's a lot of footballing talent from Belgium all of a sudden. They could go further than France at the next world cup (goes without saying that they'll go further than England...).

Quote from IsaacPrice :Is this the first F1 race you've ever watched or do you just miss the point completely?

Judging by your posts I think I've been following the F1 since before you were born. Team orders have always been unpopular with the fans, except for self-styled super-pro fans like you who convince themselves to appreciate everything even if it's shit.

Quote from IsaacPrice :IMO F1 isn't for the dumb race fan who just wants to watch cars crash.

Clearly it's for the immensely educated race fan who thinks that drivers not racing is just as interesting as drivers racing.

I've never identified as an 'F1 fan', so I don't feel I have to justify every stupid idea they have in F1 just because "it's part of the sport". I think DRS is lame, I think the pointless overtaking because of deliberately shit tyres is lame, and I think team orders are lame. And I think you're naive and gullible.

Quote from IsaacPrice :Are you an idiot?

Are you an idiot?

Quote from IsaacPrice :It costs them money to put the cars on the grid and at the end of the day just because we the fans don't like it, doesn't change their job description blah blah

If there were no spectators there would be no money.

Quote from IsaacPrice :it's not even "the fans" who don't like it, it's just the uneducated fans who don't even really understand what F1 is and always has been who don't like it.

So you enjoy the part of the race where nobody's actually racing? The bit where they all turn the engines down and drive around pointlessly for half an hour?

I get the impression the 'real' fans are a bunch of ****ing idiots who are more concerned with being serious enough fans of something than they are about anything else.

Quote from Storm_Cloud :Why do you watch something that bores you?

Why would you condone a third of a race being - by design - not a race?

There is no point to it. If the teams are going to do that they should go to the race director when they've decided the result and say 'You can red flag it now, that's all the racing we feel like doing today'.

I think they would have black flagged Alonso if he'd stayed out much longer with that wing.

I am also bored of teams deciding which driver will finish in which position. The end of the race was a massive anti-climax, and the political language being used by the drivers was an embarrassment. There should be penalties for any driver who doesn't race during a race.

I don't think I've ever read that but it's a nice and concise set of rules.

I probably am using it wrong - I am quite clumsy with stuff like that - but they definitely scratch as they write when I use them. I figured it was the flat edge where the nib is split in two, the corner it creates dragging on the paper.
