IIRC (haven't used it for years) with ZoneAlarm you have to white list certain apps to give them network privileges. Have a poke around in ZoneAlarm and see if you can find the place where you add applications that are allowed through the firewall, and add your .exe to the list.

ZoneAlarm is supposed to prompt you when a program tries to access the internet but sometimes it doesn't work and you just get what looks like a hanging process instead - not very useful.

I'm a web contractor / consultant, usually either PHP development or payment systems which I find **** boring but I've accidentally developed a reputation as a specialist. :/

Quote from Ales_M :It is , if ur a talented builder and able to make somethign impressive. You should try.

Thanks for implying that you must have some innate talent that I don't have. Sadly I haven't seen anything jaw-dropping in your screengrabs, but I'm glad to hear you're so very impressed with yourself.

No one should dictate others how they should play.

I didn't call it cheating or tell you how you should play. No one should assume what other people think.

I prefer survival, especially multiplayer, but that's just me. I don't think it's very satisfying to build something when you're given infinite materials to do it with.

And all the screengrabs seem to be from flying positions.

Yeah then we can cut ourselves and read vampire romance fiction.

Quote from thisnameistaken :For anyone who hasn't come across a village yet, try blancmange as your seed - there's a village visible from spawn, if you gain a little height you'll see it.

This is actually a pretty good map. There's a hole in the middle of the village that goes on for miles in several directions, there's also a skeleton spawner not far inside.

Is it true that Endermen can move any block? Sounds potentially very destructive, more frustrating than fun.

Er... How do you eat? I've got cooked pork chops here and I can't seem to eat them. :/

I think I'm going to die of starvation actually!

I like the lighting in caves.

I went for a quick mine to find coal, found a cave, had a quick peek inside and I swear I could see a pair of little glowing eyes in the darkness! Went back up the stairs, blocked it off with stone, went to watch Man U hopefully get spanked by Benfica...

Just wandered around a new world for 10 minutes in my lunch break, didn't come across anything new really - some vines, some wolves chasing sheep, that was it.

Didn't see any structures.

Quote from Crashgate3 :Deal-breaker - it's a bit pointless without this. Although I suppose there's no reason you couldn't use TrackIR or FreeTrack with it too.

I bet you could balance more stuff on your head whilst playing a game if you tried. Maybe a little plastic lasso or a pickaxe or something, kicking it old-school.

IIRC there's no head tracking included in this unit.

It's also pretty heavy and poorly balanced - all the weight is at the front making it uncomfortable to wear, apparently.

Looks like those wheel arches would cause visibility problems, is that why your idea wasn't taken forward?

Yeah I suppose we could clean the car but we never do that, it didn't occur to me.
You all like cars don't you

I don't, really.

Anyway, girlfriend went to a festival last weekend, they have 18 hours of rain the first day, about 12 hours of rain the second day, she ended up driving out over the equivalent of a large, saturated, ploughed field.

Car has now got a vibration in the steering wheel that is noticable above 70mph. I wondered if anyone could work out what is causing it:

So yeah, steering wheel rapidly judders left and right, and then doesn't, and then does, and then doesn't. It's governed by a low-frequency oscillation, a sine wave-ish pattern - the juddery movement fades in and fades out, over a wave that takes approx. 8 seconds to complete at 75mph. 4 seconds of shaking, 4 seconds of nothing.

So I suppose my question is: What car part, that has some effect on the feedback to the steering wheel, cycles at wavelengths that long (around 8 seconds) at 75mph? I can't imagine anything taking that long to cycle at that speed.

Thanks, nerdy anorak types.

Quote from Jertje :It's really important when a person that happened to live on roughly the same patch of land as you - as defined by people long ago - invented something of some importance.

+1

I hear a southerner was the real inventor of yorkshire pudding.

The French have got the right idea - who is going to argue with them about who was first to eat a horse? Very cunning, those French.
