Could be the harddisk, I had some microstuttering too on skin loading so I made symlinks to the skins_x/y/dds folders on my ssd and kept the rest on the old hdd, since then it's not happening anymore.
Best I could come up with, zero flickering but not a very nice start line. Maybe somebody with more talent can get more out of it. For me thats enough to race on. (2048 version)
I tried to fiddle around with all kinds of solutions, making it smaller, leaving more space on top or bottom but it seems to be chopped up in a really weird way, the start line is not what you think it would be judging from the picture of the texture, half of it is used on the fernbay green start the other half on the fernbay gold start both of those are then again used not in a single line but chopped in half again for the actual start line. At some point I just ran out of patience and decided that the line isn't that important after all.
As far as I know the only draw back is that the start/finish lines will be gone, if you check the two .dds files in question they are virtually the same, one just got the additional start/finish line in it. Attached screen-shot for easy comparison. I tried fixing it on my own making the start line smaller but that just looked ugly and didn't really work, so I completely replaced the start line with tarmac because I rather have no flickering with no start line instead of the other way around.
Again, this is not an AA problem (at least not on the occasion I posted about) You can clearly see that Eric reused the Start/Finish line and parts of it flicker in T1. If you just replace the Start/Finish you wont have flickering any more. Any amount of AA/Supersampling/AF wont make that go away.
What you do in single player is your business alone, nobody will/can do anything about that. The devs just don't like discussions about unwanted content in the forums that is all.
Yay. You must be in a really sad state if you've got nothing better to do then trying to disrupt a small community of an indie developer game. Hipp Hipp...
Thanks for all the hard work I was waiting for some higher res fernbay.
One problem I've found: You can see a lot of flickering going on coming to T1 at Fernbay Gold/Club/Black. After investigating the cause it seems to be some weird texture usage on Eric's part, he reuses the start finish line texture again in T1 which in turn causes flickering, if I replace that texture it is completely gone, only problem is that the start finish line is gone too with that rather crude fix.
Picture one: Original JA_roadxtras.dds -> flickering
Picture two: JA_roadxtras.dds replaced with JAroad_t1.dds -> no flickering
Maybe you can do a better job and somehow get rid of the flickering while having a start finish you can see Lynce?
Just had a crash with 0.6E, not sure where the problem was, I switched back to desktop checked my email and then lfs crashed out of nowhere. Error report I got, maybe it points you to some culprit at Scawen:
(I also saved temp_mpr if that would be helpful?)
edit: Could it be a new track loading and LFS somehow having problems with that? I'm pretty sure the host changed tracks a few minutes after the race ended, which would explain why LFS crashed some minutes after I alt-tabbed out of the game.
Yep, if you're talking about the incident before the start that certainly looks like lag on the players end, on his end the restart never actually happened, it wasn't enough to boot him straight away but the disconnect soon after gives it away. Nothing unusual there, happens every now and then.
Because netkar was on the limit with its engine, he posted about that on racedep. when the same question was asked, some of the code still came from the netkar namie project, with him being italian and 10+ year old code you can imagine the mess it must've been
Senna accident, best onboard I could find. He seems to come from quite far back there you have to say, but he manages to make it stop. Still can't expect Vettel to see him there.
edit: pulled, you know bernie he doesn't like this!
Well, I can get a brand new G27 for those 190 Euro in Switzerland. Maybe you're lucky and somebody does not compare prices but I doubt you can sell it for that amount of money.
Well, it is the second time already Yvan decided to punt somebody off in the space of a 2 races and it effectively destroyed Menu's chances on the championship. He was easily looking to go for a double victory making some really good points on that weekend. It is a harsh penalty yes, but there was nothing else they could've given him, a reprimand is not enough in my book.
I think a "metro" style design would work very well for lfsworld, it is modern and could be easily recognized by the web 2.0 generation. I know windows 8 gets a lot of flak but the metro part is actually quite a nice idea although misplaced as frontend for everyday usage on a desktop pc, I do think it fits rather nicely in tablets/phones/htpcs/browsers however which would probably be the primary use for lfsworld.
edit: I notice this should have probably gone in stats.lfs.net, or be bald and use the metro theme over the whole lfs.net domains to make it a seamless experience?
edit2: http://droptiles.com/ found this while googling a bit more, nice example of how things could look.
It is already being sold as boxed version by the same publisher, Kunos gave some infos on that and reworked the UI for them. So it is legit and with the permission of Kunos.
