The degrading may be a problem in 40-60min+ racing but in short public races the fxo is clearly faster on any track you put it against the xrt. The 3% are accepted by the community for as long as I can remember, balancing still isn't perfect with this but it gives the xrt a fighting chance.

Without any restrictions even with the fxo's horrible start you can get around pretty much anybody in the 10-15min of racing on public servers. I wouldn't agree on the top speed argument though as far as I can remember they are pretty even top speed wise, it's the grunt out of corners that lets the xrt stand in the dust.

I would bet a lot of money on any skilled fxo driver beating an xrt driver with equal skill 4 out of 5 times if there is no restriction for the fxo. The rb4 is another matter entirely I'm not sure if you will ever be able to get it competitive on tracks with fast corners and long straights.

Quote from kiste :One thing i hope to see sooner or later that we will all practise on "public" servers and don´t need to worry about setupstealing. Would be nice to see that. Not only on pubs but more then this season. :P

I certainly missed the community spirit in the races I took part, back in the days (when everything was better anyway!!11) I always loved messing around with sets, doing practice stints with 20 others, checking out the pace or even just do a little chitchat on the servers. This year the practice server was empty most of the time and I do think you can only get faster with healthy motivation and a strong competition while you practice, which must be in everybody's interest we want to have nice and close racing after all, not a 12/24 hour hotlap session.

So yes that setup extractor stuff is unfortunate and I fully understand that fast teams don't want to give away the advantage they have in setup knowledge. I can also see that it is very tempting and easy to use but since scawen is busy with other things I do think it's up to "us" as a community to police the use of it ourself, thats where the team managers have to come into play or the individuals taking part in whichever league, set an example, don't use it and maybe others will do the same. It would be a real shame destroying/fragmenting our little community even further because of things like this. After all we're all here to race together and I certainly don't get a lot of satisfaction in beating a 10 or 15 car field when we used to have full grids and brimming waiting lists for any 12h+ endurance event. (I've never won anything anyway but thats another story )

edit: I almost forgot: thanks to ndr and all the people making this possible for putting up with us lot for all these years and a lot more years to come hopefully.

Just use lfsworld as serverbrowser, I can't remember the last time I used the ingame one. On lfsworld you can still chose demo/s1/s2 and launch lfs to directly join the server in question.

Not a problem really, all the lfs dedi host needs is bandwidth the rest doesn't matter.

Nice, I always liked those cityliga stats, good to see you've decided to make it public.

You could get the boxed version from there if you feel like waiting for the delivery. http://www.game.co.uk/en/nkpro ... categoryIdentifier=348203

You're over thinking it, it's just a straight forward http stream that changes depending on your bandwidth. You can use adblock or some other browser addon that catches http links or url snooper/wireshark if you like it that way.

edit: lemme check the onboards, if I ever get on the alms site that is...

cat5 cables can do gbit speeds no problem, you can save a bit of money on that end (running 20m cat5 cables through half of the flat here and getting the full gbit on the network). Unless you plan to future prove and go for a 10gbit network any time soon.

Your licence file should be in \Documents\Assetto Corsa\Lic double check if you got read/write access and maybe back it up to a different place to manually restore it?

Talking about twitter, some people really got nothing better to do. First of all what is iRacing even doing on steam, I don't quite get that and secondly who is fanboy enough to vote NO on another simracing title on steam.

I doubt there is one, I even hear there will be updates with fixes for the TP.

You need to switch it off again manually with CTRL+A ingame, reason seems to be that the car got ABS in real life so you can only manually disable it.

You may want to try turning off hdr/motionblur and going down with the cube settings, I think I'm on 1 faces and can't remember the other value. But that helped a lot with my steering lag.

The UI should be completely in HTML so you can do whatever you want with it, skin it differently, change the layout and so fort. Not sure if it's the case for the tech demo too though.

Why are we still discussing this anyway, it is confirmed that the tech preview got out early to some game reviewers today, bose mentioned doing game reviews every now and then on the lfsforum so why shouldn't he be on the mailing list?

It looks like game journalists on their mailing list got the chance to test it a little earlier, if you check twitter he is just talking to some Italian dude having problems starting it.

But it very much looks like we "normal" people should be getting it today too.

edit: btw, netkar is on sale for people wanting to check out the tech preview. You can get it for 5 Euro until the end of February http://www.netkar-pro.com/main/

I usually manage to break the wheel and shifter at roughly the same time so it wasn't a problem until now. Wheel is still holding up somewhat but the shifter has an annoying problem with 5th gear, was driving me mad in and before the 24h race so I had to get a new one.

My original shifter is in the process of breaking, paid 16 euro for it on ebay, can't complain.

I do agree on the "this is his server and he can do whatever the hell he wants with it" but still it is a problematic decision in a time where there isn't 6 other full servers to choose from in the masterlist. If you get banned/blocked/whatever from cargame servers you're pretty much screwed when it comes to public racing, that isn't cargames fault of course but the situation should be taken into consideration when applying such drastic measures.

edit: Just to add some more on the ping statement, yes pings can be high from people further away but that doesn't mean that you'll get more crashes because of them, it could probably even be the other way around if you see somebody with a ping of 150ms you naturally drive a little more careful around him, at least I would like to think you do. Just check the countless endurance events/leagues with people racing from all over the world, if your connection is stable and you got no package loss it is easily possible to race close with a ping exceeding 200ms.
