I would be careful with the ASUS cards, I just had the pleasure of needing to send one back for RMA and was waiting 6 weeks for the replacement. The guy in the shop also told me that the usual 14 day money back rule doesn't seem to apply to ASUS (only 7 days according to him), not even sure if that is legal in most countries.

I've been reading a lot of good things about the EVGA warranty but decided against one of their cards because of good reviews for both the Gigabyte and ASUS coolers.

edit: I got a brand new card back today, no more issues, still took a long time though.

Tested with some replays and OBS (open broadcaster software) which didn't want to pick up LFS without dx8 to dx9 converter beforehand.

Everything seems to work as expected.

Quote from Boris Lozac :Anyone drove Formula Abarth at Imola.. Wonder how are people getting 1:40 on RSR when running wide on the run-off area makes the lap invalid. Can setup honestly make a 5 second difference?

If you could try it with default setup, 10 litres of fuel and super-soft tires, and keep at least 2 wheels on the track.. i've managed 1:45.496.

Default set on the f abarth got very low wings, try higher ones.

Right, I completely forgot to get more into the wind discussion!

I don't understand the animosity a very loud minority in this community seems to have against the wind. We already got so few variables in LFS' current state, what happens if, god forbid, we get some updates with dynamic racing lines and/or brakes fading together with proper mechanical damage? Will you complain about not being able to drive in this completely sanitary sim racing world of ours any more?

wind.

edit: Just to not get deko smoking out of his ears: I do think it is rather easy blaming league organizers for the current state of things but if you're really honest that is not where complaints should go. I'll just link my post from earlier today which is going in the same direction this one would be going: https://www.lfsforum.net/showt ... php?p=1839723#post1839723

If you lack motivation try something new, if you don't want to try something new don't complain about lack of motivation.

Still around, yes, the same standard? No!

Nothing against NDR or any other league organizer they all probably do an even better job then back in the days but that's because they have to, it's not as easy any more getting the masses mobilized. If you look at leagues/endurance events today and 6-8 years ago it's a completely different thing, be it the number of competitors or the buzz created not only in this community but also outside.

The German community especially was huge back then, with the LFS ESL finale broadcasted live on cable/sat TV and electronic/consumer brands sponsoring some big prizes, that train has left to Sims creating more hype these days. The last larger thing I remember was the Finnish maailman nopein kasa back in 2009 (?) which got us a batch of really talented Finns, just like we had plenty of talented Germans when the ESL was on it's peak.

I do think it is important that you get these huge events raising awareness outside of this community reaching new people and forming the racing competition of tomorrow. There will always be old moaning people (like me these days ) leaving, which isn't a problem as long as you've got enough young talent coming in.

Edit: Almost forgot, calling Vykos a broadcaster is not doing it justice really, he was the unpaid LFS PR guy in Germany, raising awareness, getting on TV, organizing events and a hundred other things I've missed or which never surfaced publicly.

You really don't want to run it with an 8800GT though, it doesn't support, I can't remember the name something with DDS and transparency, and your trees will look like this: http://www.surrealillusions.co.uk/2013-11-08_00002.jpg

Oldest nvidia card you can still use in DX10 mode is the GT(X) 2XX series, don't expect it to look good though and be prepared that at some point it may not work any more.

Quote from Nadeo4441 :
We know that AS will use the steam workshop, so they could potentially regulate the content there.. but again, what would be the point of that? Users could then only upload made-up cars and tracks.

I don't think that was confirmed by Kunos, it would be nice though. But I would imagine it would be quite complicated on the legal side, at least if the plan is to allow non fictional content.

I've added the BMW lap, sorry couldn't deduct those 10s I don't want to have a discussion about removing .5 of a second somewhere down the line, what the clock says counts.

For the Elise Lap you didn't write down a time.

It's not all sunshine and lollipops in Assetto regarding mods either, just look at the 11 pages rant thread about joux plane in the racedepartment forum: http://www.racedepartment.com/ ... -of-things-to-come.80113/

Or (the supposed) ex-RBR dev moaning at reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/assett ... or_the_goose_please_read/

They do have some valid points, at least for converted content of recent games/sims, but in this RBR case it is a load of bollocks in my humble opinion. I very much doubt RBR is losing out on sales with this conversion, if anything it's a bit of free publicity and maybe some extra copies sold on ebay.

Can't stop hotlapping Joux, it's just so rewarding when you get it right. I did the Lotus Type 49 earlier and was sweating like a pig on steroids after a few tries having a huge smile on my face, it's that good!

I've got a single drawer for all kinds of crap, and when I search something I curse at myself for not storing it properly. It usually comes out in one big ball of cables/earphones/other crap and I untangle for 30 min and repeat the year after when I search something again.

I thought I'd try and get most of those hot laps centralized, added most I could find on the past pages that got a photo or video. Ideally I'd like them all to have a replay (or video) at some point so if you got one hook me up with it.

Did a 6.18 normal direction with the F40 on 90's tyres. Including this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fMx8sRNVGI

edit: Almost forgot yesterday I've tried the Zonda and did a 5.30 but that was with considerably less knowledge of the track.

We do have the same system in LFS really, that is if we would get content to actually part with some cash every now and then. I really don't mind giving them some funds if the price and content is reasonable.

MP is of course still make or break but we surely know how it is way before the DLC preorder will be out.

Quote from Eclipsed :I have some question as a steam-non-user - are the download speeds in general pathetic or it's for some reason only for me? Found some wi-fi hotspot, speedtest result is ~10Mbits,even currently the download peak is just 400KB/s (also 3.2Mbit),it's downloading with interuptions, usually maxing just 100KB/s then goes to 0. Browsing websites doesn't seem to be interupted, everything goes smoothly like with normal connection, just the steam download is crap - current time remaining averages 2 days. I can't sit here for 2 days ffs...

You could try and change the download server location in the steam options, try some different ones and see which one works best for you.

Regarding graphics settings, if you're on nvidia try this: http://steamcommunity.com/app/ ... /0/666825525296642878/#p1

The 4x sparse grid supersampling is quite heavy on fps but these settings look most natural to me, with hdr turned on you get fxaa but it does make the game look blurry and adds weird effects.
