The rain delay worked out perfectly for me, I spent most of the day traveling home from Atlanta, still got home and got to watch the end of the race at night. That said, they should really put some more effort into properly warming up the cars or something next time, kind of a joke when you have that many engines blowing up.
I don't feel bad for Truex at all, this isn't him being "punished" really, if it wasn't for the cheating he wasn't going to make the Chase anyway, so these penalties just put him where he should have been in the first place. Only way I could see him getting any sympathy is just the fact that he thought he was in for a couple days, but that's what he gets for being on a team of cheaters I guess.
I think they handled it about as well as they could, I applaud NASCAR for making the tough call. I would have been embarrassed to call myself a fan if they let that kind of move slide with so much evidence supporting the fact the MWR manipulated the race results at the end, especially the bogus pit calls.
Overall I thought it was a great race, wanted to see Peters get him but I'm not that mad Kyle won. I really enjoy the couple Wednesday night truck races we get, wish there were more throughout the season. I really like the young talent coming through the truck series right now, if they all get the chance to develop properly, I look forward to seeing all this new blood in the Cup series in the future.
On TV its on Fox Sports 2, which I know on Time Warner is part of the "Time Warner Sports" package which most people do not get. I actually have it, but I can't find the HD version of the channel, which is total crap. I assume someone will be streaming it online.
Ridiculous that one of the bigger races of the year is getting preempted by PRESEASON football. Especially considering no one worthwhile will even be in the game by the time the race is starting anyway. I like football...but come on.
I sure hope they don't put Larson in that car full time already, its too soon. Doesn't Ganassi have a history of ruining careers by throwing young drivers in Cup cars too early though?
Really not a big Austin Dillon fan, wanted to see someone else drive the #14 while Stewart is out. Really would love to see what Kyle Larson could do in a Cup car, but he'll definitely get his shot somewhere down the line.
Being a Stewart fan who is headed down to the Glen tomorrow, this is very disappointing. I do like that he still races dirt, so its hard to blame the guy for running so many races when that's part of what makes him who he is.
Just seems like a huge step back to me that almost half of FOX's races are getting moved to cable. What do they have on that's better and going to pull in better ratings on the normal FOX channel in that time slot? I just don't get the logic, seems like you're only hurting yourself but I guess it must make them money somehow.
I'm glad the truck series isn't going anywhere, I end up watching more truck races than Nationwide just because they tend to be more interesting. I'm interested to see what NBC sports does with the modifieds, if they give them some decent time slots and maybe even live coverage, I will definitely tune if for their races. Wish they still raced by me but they really scaled their schedule back a couple years ago.
Debris shut down that battle and then the end of the second segment shut down another battle. Larson just needed more time to make a pass happen the way the track was and didn't get it. I wasn't a huge fan of that last restart either, sure looked like Dillon went before Larson even got up next to him but he never had a shot on the inside anyway.
I will admit I was somewhat happy with the racing last night, once the track got rubbered up they actually got going which was nice to see. Wanted to see Larson win it, he definitely had the best truck, there was just no way to pass with those cautions at the end getting him stuck on the bottom every restart. I do not like the Dillon boys and was super pissed they basically handed that win to Austin with a perfectly timed caution. I was also really disappointed with Bloomquist's run, thought he'd be up near the front but he was an absolute mess running without a front sway bar.
The dry track was when it looked bad, they couldn't get any power down without the wheels spinning. By the end of the night it will be much dryer than it was yesterday I imagine, and with the hard tires they have they say it won't rubber up much. The one thing I'm hoping is that with Late Models also running hopefully they'll lay down some rubber and give the track some grip.
Anyone else watch truck practice last night from Eldora? I thought it was awful, they look like they're on ice out there and I can't see it being much better tonight with more racing being run on the track. Not sure how they plan on passing, once the fast guys get up front I see it going single file around the wall for the rest of the night, hopefully I'm wrong.
I like the truck coverage, just wish they'd get rid of Michael Waltrip, can't stand him in the booth. For all the complaining I see about DW, Michael is 50x worse to me.
What's happening to Nationwide? I saw the end of the season will be done by NBC, I assume on NBC sports. Is ESPN still doing some Nationwide races or is FOX picking them up?
I also have mixed feelings about so many races being on NBC Sports. For me its fine since I have cable anyway, and it is kind of nice that now everyone is forced to watch races at my house haha. But for the good of the sport, more of those races, especially all of the Cup races in the chase, should be on NBC.
TNT and ESPN out in 2015, NBC in. I see nothing wrong with this move except we have to wait almost 2 years before it kicks in. The sooner the better if you ask me.
