Thanks Sam, sorry about the bug I had the most terrible squits a few days ago and had to suffer a flight to Seattle and back in the same day... not nice
I certainly would not want to admin the CTRA and admire you guys for putting up with doing it and providing us winging lot an excellent set of servers to race on.
oh and p.s. you can ignore any reports against me, they don't need processing
Yeah I realised after suggesting it that it wasn't a strong idea. But something needs to change otherwise the reporting system becomes ineffective. Maybe your suggestion is the way to go, have the CTRA pick 10-15 trusted people to become "report admins". Give them guidelines and monitor the group for the first few months to see how it goes.
412 is a pretty high number and if you imagine it probably takes something like 10 minutes to view, asses and process a report thats 68 hours of work!
I wonder if it is possible to change the system a little. How about having reports processed by all Platinum drivers and above. A report must be viewed by at least 3 people so that a fair response is given? Then maybe admins only deal with appeals? Might be over complicating but with the fact that most CTRA admins have busy full time jobs, families etc, it's going to need some serious commitment to reduce that number down.
And in the case of the server I was just on. A very slow and unpredictable driver joined who a lot of people were crashing into simply because they didn't give enough SPACE. People complained and one person even rammed the poor guy into the wall and he eventually disconnected. I ended up reporting the rammer and not the slow driver!
I totally agree, of course when i'm infront i'm careful But it doesn't happen very often!
I just did 2/3 races and golly there was a lot of bumping. Very few real crashers, but just a lot of pushing their way through. I also saw a load of reports go by... CTRA are going to have a very very busy Christmas!
Just had some awesome races but need to get back to work. A good mix of driving, some still learning the TBO's, some excellent drivers and some not so! But overall the attitude was really good, CTRA provides the best racing environment by far...
Race 2 it is! I've been having WAY too much fun on Race 3 and SS1/2 recently. I need to temper that with some frustration on the wishy washy slow TBO beasts!
Really? I would have thought that a single class with all 4 cars, XRT, RB4, FXO and VW would make for very interesting races. The more different cars in a race for me that are close enough in performance, the better.
Will this car be lined up in the TBO class or LRF? Anyone in the CTRA group had chance to drive it yet? Race 2 is going to get busy when this release comes out.
Oh come on... this is a GAME. We are PLAYING the game and we are all mainly here to have FUN. Anyone using the CTRA simulator for any professional gain and takes the simulator in such serious light is in need of a strong Gin and Tonic (Bombay Sapphire with plenty of lime...)
The CTRA system is by far the best LFS racing system implemented, infact the best online racing system ever. I dropped my iRacing subscription simply because I didn't have the time for the awkward system. I liked the racing when I could. But I have a very busy job, 7 month old son and a life to enjoy. CTRA is perfect for high quality, pick up racing.
It's high quality because of the common sense rules implied by Sam et al. Its also high quality because of the common sense attitudes by most that race on the servers. e.g. if you want to save your FFB motors, spectate at the end of the race. If you don't like people messing about on an online game simulator at the end of a stressful, close quarters race, then spectate...
Seriously, there are far more important things to worry about than a few people messing about at the end of the race ruining a few peoples perfect worlds. It isn't as if the cars damage lasts beyond a single race, or as if you incur any physical damage (apart from the odd coffee cup incident)
I love CTRA for its rules, but I actually love it more for the way they are enforced... with common sense (something that is REALLY lacking in this modern age)
