Could someone please borrow me an S1 server for tonight (19:30-22:30). (S2 server with S1 content (one line in the .cfg file)... I run a cup for S1 license holders, where the first prize is an upgrade voucher... I don't need the admin pass, only "/select yes" and the password can be whatever, but "vcup" would be nice ;-)
Well I guess I'm lucky, because my very close friend (a girl and if things go fine, a girlfriend), has like me, petrol in her veins. So I don't have this problem now.
But before that, I ran into trouble like you on several occasions... Some just could not understand that it's a sport much like any other... Some guys play football, I play LFS, I said... But the common reply was: But that is on a computer... And I could not explain that it is pretty much the same... They have a football match for 2x 45mins and sweat like hell, and I have a 2 hours race and sweat also.
I was always for a geek, when I said that you could sweat from playing computer games... But I've always let them have their "truth" and left them in their ignorance...
I think that if Scawen would make the tyre grip a bit more weight sensitive, it would make LFS feel more natural (ie. FWD vs RWD standing start, it would lower the oversteering in RWD cars (which i don't see as a prob, but some people do..))
and to make races more competetive, lower the amount of downforce loss, when slipstreaming someone... The GTR cars are pretty close to DTM cars (aero vise)and I have seen the DTM cars going bumper to bumper around the whole track. This is impossible in LFS with the GTR cars.
I really like the races in non aero cars more, because it is possible to hang on the bumper of your rival...
Please have a look at this replay from the Actual Linux Summer Cup and tell me how would you rank the 7th and 8th place? According to LFS Jarda(cz) was 7th, but if you look at the "finish photo" Loukota is 7th...
I say the positions are according to LFS wheter you like it or not...
A 'stoney' improvement idea on which we came yesterday::banana_ra
Should someone lag out, the car shoud not dissapear, but stay, with all inputs frozen on the state the lag occured, making a spectacular crash.
But thinking about it today, I came to the conclusion, that its not that good, sice someone lags from time to time, and this would bring more crashes... But if it would work with "fatal" lags only, then it would be a good additon IRL the cars don't vanish either...
Anyway, just a funny idea and I thought I'll share it
They have paid to use the S1 content, but they can't use the main part of LFS, the multiplayer. There are S2 servers with S1 content only, why can't they join and use the content they paid for??
you are forgeting the newcomers who have to pay £24.. and for some of them its too much to pay at once...
but with S1 license only, there is no multiplayer... check S1 servers nowadays...
Seem so... I'm a bit dissapointed for so many 'no' voices... I thought the main reason for everyone here is to have some nice races in a friendly community, but now it seems that there is a number of people who think they are something more since they paid 12 pounds more... :thumbsdow
What's wrong with the choice no.2 in the poll??
try setting the antirollbars to 0, the function of ARB is to limit bodyroll, but the side effect of that is, that it does make the suspension less independent...
well this suggestion brings the S1 license holders back into multiplayer... and I say again, for a lot of people it's far more better to buy things in parts...
Well in the late S1 times there were good sets on inferno for 99% of the tracks/cars, so when everybody could download a good set , there was no point of sharing them online... nowadays some think that they win mainly because of their set, so the are not willing to share it... but it's a common thing that is't 80% the driver not the set who wins the race... I have no probs sharing my sets... When someone asks for a set I have, I share...
Well for 3 years since the first demo, everybody had to put his skin somewhere for others to download and we had to live with that... I see no reason why demo racers should not...
The good thing in S2 is that bans are on username... So no problem baning him when he joins... To see his username, bring up the connections list and then press ctrl+shift.. (or maybe another 2 combo of the left ctrl,alt,shift)...
You can even ban him if he is not present... as an admin just write /ban username x (where x is for days).. see readme.txt to be sure...
In the Czech Leauge races we have always had the wind on low, in the beginning there were some voices against, but now nobody complains... It affects everybody the same and makes races a bit more interresting because the wind changes direction and thus the brake points also change. So a challenge for everybody and no more "hotlapping" during races :yipee:
