Anyway I figured out a way to get infinite paint chips
If you have 2 PS3 accounts, have GT5 for each one, and have the other account as a friend for each.
Then just gift a car from one to the other. You'll receive the car in the other account through the machine delivery button.
You get the car and 1 paint chip. Now gift the car back to the original account, plus the paint chip.
You will receive back the car in the original account, recieve the paint chip sent, and get another paint chip when you recieve the car via machine delivery!
My B-Spec level isn't high enough yet. Plus my B-Spec cash cow is when you have GT5 running in the background while you browse the web or do something else

Anyway GT5 feels like a different game with a wheel vs the control pad. Strange, but a lot of stuff you just can't sense with a pad.
Like the floating feeling you get on the wheel, going light, when you go over jumps. I only noticed that yesterday, you discover these little details that might not be so obvious in one car, but will be another car.
So it's a big step up for a GT game, in this area
Weird, maybe the servers still need to be updated or something
I found an easy cash cow with B-Spec for now, until I get my level higher
The Supercar race on Daytona in the Professional tier
Bring a Stealth Mazda 787B or equalient, and just let the AI run around for 6 laps on his own, easy $15,000 credits, rinse and repeat. Cash, experience, and leveling all in one
Thanks
Yeah I'm on v3.55 PS3 firmware and V1.03 GT5
Someone mentioned gaps in the skid marks indicating that the tires are losing and regaining traction with the road, in my video.
I didn't notice that until he pointed it out
My Clio Sport V6 not only looks messed up but feels and sounds it too.
If you go into the pits, the cosmetic damage stays but the mechanical gets repaired I think.
yeah I noted a while back the real Mclaren F1 rolls more than one in GT5, from official videos I've seen. I don't have it ingame yet
F1 Time attack at Tsukuba. Anyone have it ingame? Do a comparison? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YcRY15toko0
I know the wheel selection varies from car to car, some of my cars have almost double the number of rim choices, but most of them are these chromey, shiny and metallic wheels.
Rally cars, hot hatches and race cars just look odd with these rims!
There doesn't appear to be any plain 5, 6 and 8 spoke Speedline style rims for that tougher motorsport look. Ala the Prodrive 555 Subara WRC days
I thought the 370z in the Time trial did pitch quite a bit in the cockpit view, both in braking and accelerating, you could feel the nose rise
When I watch the AI cars in the classic races, while driving, they do seem to pitch and roll around a lot. More so than the newer cars
And you can see this red AI Integra type R braking in my video, it does pitch forward quite a bit at 0:29. Front suspension compressing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yQfJqFSjvU
Plus that freeze frame comparison I made with a Best Motoring video of the 300zx. Maybe it's the camera angles or something else that doesn't make it seem so
Turn the driving line on and max out the EV
Yeah night is way too dark. Night on the Ring is scary!
The FFB on the Renault Clio Sport V6 feels good. With the aero add ons and sports suspension. It seems the FFB varies from car to car, but on this one it chatters a bit like in iRacing. Especially on the Mount Aso track generator theme. Maybe the of suspension settings is not damping the springs enough or something, but you can see, hear and feel the car vibrate on some fo the runs and elevation changes.
The wheel goes light when you understeer and when you go airbourne.
I have driven this car in Prologue and it feels totally different, especially in how the oversteer feels, and there is more grip now on Hard Sports tyres
BTW they don't model the physics to each car individually. They just enter the stats of the car into the physics engine, and it takes care of the rest. So it isn't scripted like in some games/mods
In the Top gear magazine article Kaz mentioned this. He said they found that if the stats are entered correctly the cars behave like they do in the real world
I think all the cars all handle and feel different in the game, not all cars in real life feel good to drive.
I just read that the LFA comes in matt black from the dealer, doh, didn't notice that while skimming the colours....
I also got some pearl 2 tone weird paint from the FT-86 I won
I got the highroller trophy when I picked up my LFA in gold-brown colour. Now I'm wonder if I should paint it Le Mans Blue from my 370Z or Matt Black with gold rims - hmmm decisions
Sounds like an angel stock, sounds different with sports exhaust, more throaty, wonder what it sounds like with a race exhaust...
There are hidden parameters with B-Spec drivers. Not all are equal it seems. A bit like in GT4, the more then drive a certain car, and drivetrain layout, plus power class the better they get at using that car. And they also learn the tracks the more the drive on it. If you observe their lap times you'll see changes and their lines get better
Also according to the ingame manual, B-Spec drivers with lots of miles will eventually age and get worse over time.
Maybe specialising certain drivers, once you get more than 2 might be a good idea
Stick your PS3 on your PC monitor and use your wheel that way
The speed sensitive steering lock limits with the controller (which is why it feels understeery) plus input smoothing is the problem.
Back in the Time Trial with the 1:1 controller settings, which made it feel twitchy, allowed you to drive well on the ovals, not so anymore
You can for most games but not for GT5, until the next patch which is rumoured to remove the copy protection. Just remeber all your replays, settings and photo mode pics are stored in the main game files, not in your saves! So You can't really back it all up. Off course you can export your photos out, as well as your replays, but it's hassle if you ahve tons of em
Different race, and damage appears to be dynamic
Pics taken at different stages of the race, and after varied amounts of impacts
I got the "Take your Honda Home" trophy when I smashed up the AI honda with my Evo 6 TM, didn't realise there was a trophy for that until the message popped when I was watching the replay
I'm at level 14, so there is more damage now, but it doesn't progress much further than this.
I finally got a Holden Monaro, it sounds Ok stock, but I love the way it sounds with a sports exhaust - sounds kinda like a V8 Supercar
Not keen on the Semi-racing or Race systems though. Not bad for a non-premium car.
Donuts from a stationary start feel and look right to me. Holden Monaro (standard car), FR, does it no problems
The RX-7 and 350Z, tuned I suspect don't sound too bad either. You can tell which is which by their drive by sounds
The more I play it, the more it feels like physics from the Time Trial mixed together with Enthusia. The coder for the Enthusia physics engine now works for PD, so it's not a big surprise I guess
Front wheel drive cars still aren't modelled that well as far as torque steer and some types of oversteer effects though.
Also the FFB on oversteer still doesn't seem to have the auto-countersteer effect, or maybe it's just too weak, and the wheel spin coming out of turns, when you let go of the wheel, that Enthusia had.
The wheel does go light when you understeer though or when you lock the brakes on turn in.
I did some drifting online for kicks, and after 2 laps of it on Eiger short, the tyre wear meter was only at 75% level, but the grip was just about shot!
The only way to do a private run is someone hosts a race in their lounge.
If that person is on your PSn friends list, you just click on community and scroll to the person hosting it, next to his profile icon will be a Yellow icon, click on it and you will head to his Lounge/race.
If the person is not on your friends list, but you have someone else on your list in his lounge, they will also have that yellow icon, just click on it, and you will go there
Eventually you will be able to use custom tracks here as well, but it's no enabled right now.
How smooth the cars look online depends on the Race Quality setting the hoster is using. The other display next to host name is the latency I think.
Practise runs before the race appears to work as qualify as timing information is shown when you click the Timing button as a spectator.
You can also save online race replays, it's somewhere in lobby area when the race finishes. Doesn't record practise runs though

If anyone hasn't seen it, here is that demo of a 24 Hour Le Mans race in GT5 with dynamic time of day and lighting. It's so smooth and gradual you don't even notice the transitions!
Don't know why they dropped the adjustable AI levels they had in Prologue. Or the Performance points system to be honest. Capping the GT Life events with PP would have made the game much more challanging.
Then again the AI level in Prologue was an update addon
Nice looks like it
They should have made the race mod number decal available for the other cars as well, that way you can have different numbers on the cars without having a race mod
