BTW, if anyone is finding the game too dark, having problems seeing details in the dark, or finding the skly blowing in in cockpit view, try setting your PS3 Display Settings>RGB to limited instead of full.

Quote from 91mason91 :Still, i can't see people who already own a G25/7 or a Fannytech reverting to something like this. Also people looking for their first time wheel arn't going to be sueded by the price.

More for people like me - who have a DFGT, but want something better
The main thing is that it's an officially endorsed wheel that has a clutch, so future GT games will start to model it better etc

It has a centre mark - a nice simple touch
Hope the paddles are fixed to the body and not on the rim itself... anyone who drifts will know why

It would be nice if it it had a wheel closer in size to real ones. The old Thrustmaster wheels had big rims, as seen in the Enthusia videos

It's got most of what the DFGT has by the looks of it, horn button etc

They also make this...

It has a H-Shifter, you just have to buy it separately. At least if it breaks, you get a new one, unlike Logitechs where they won't even sell you spare parts

Kaz tweets base unit
Quote :T500RS:「ステアリングホイール、ベースユニット、パドルシフター、3ペダル」 が含まれています。

T500RS: Steering wheel, base unit, paddle shifter, and three pedals are included.

The G27 is $450 in Japan, so I guess it's around that price

But it's not the T500RS

It doesn't have an attached shifter

Quote :Kaz via Twitter:
ステアリング&パドルシフトだけ。Hパターンのシフターは別売りです。T500RSの ポジションは、高品質でプレミアムなステアリングです。.
Translation (google):
Steering & shift paddles only. H pattern shifter is sold separately. T500RS position is a high-quality, premium steering.

Quote :Got a reply from Kaz concerning the wheel:

High-power motor, belt drive backlash-free, high-speed processing at low latency. You can feel the delicate and rich feel of the steering. RT @ jambogt

Pretty sure it will be 900 degrees. The one in the picture is different from the GT wheel version.
In any case having an official wheel with gearbox/clutch means it will be worked on more closely

New official GT wheel Thrustmaster T500RS

This new Thrustmaster wheel is high end. So I'm glad I waited on the G27. If it has clutch and gearbox, which it should at $500, Official GT5 wheel and 16 bit accuracy then it could be very good

Hope the pedals feel good, but there are are more buttons than the G25/G27

My Stealth 787B Showcase. It sounds better when I do the throttle blipping myself, which I did in a few spots
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcuPmk6ZV2E

Quite a hard car to drive, too fast for me brain to process, plus I hate Le Mans, so hard to see and feel the apexes, a bit like Silverstone
I undergeared it I think, it should get close to 400kph with no chicanes

It sounds like the real thing, but a bit too distorted. PD are starting to copy Shift, distorting all the race cars sounds
It sounds like a post process function, so they could easily add a lesser distortion option...
A little bit helps to make things sound "louder", but they added to much IMO.

Quote from Boris Lozac :I was fooling around with my crap cammera.. My friend wanted to hear the sound of LFA.. not a great quality, casual drive, far from any record (7:46.xx), DFGT, all aids off, abs at 1.

showcase of stock version you can send to him. Pink LFA?

Quote from brandons48 :I now have a RUF CTR2 and a RUF Yellowbird.

Easily the most fun cars in the game for me atm.

Anyone else notice that Standard cars get damaged too? Got a snap of my Yellowbird's front all bent up. Will post it soon.

On the other hand I drove my Stealth 787B straight into a wall at 370+kph at Le Mans and nothing happened, not even a flip, the car just stops.. weird. It's not like it's a street car or "real" car with license issues.

787B has one of the better interiors in the game, good visibility, especially considering it's a wedge shaped race car. You can read all the displays really easily

Quote from Boris Lozac :Hah, that location looks so real How do you unlock it?

Btw, Kazunori tweets about mechanical damage coming till mid-december, Youtube upload option is near completion, possibility of no-HUD option and save game backups by late december.

Get all golds in the Japanese Classic race in the Beginner hall, either A-spec or B-spec. Just need a standard Japanese car between 1960-70
I'm surprised how good thtse classic Japanese cars feel. I rocked my Toyota Celica 1600GT (would prefer a 2000GT). Had to rebuild the engine, oil change, and some mild tuning upgrades. Replays looked good with a full field of standard cars too
That Dome car looked nice, I think I will try and find one

BTW all these quotes of Kaz, are taken out of context. A lot of them he is thinking about, he didn't say for sure 100% to be done

----

Made a video showcasing my mild tuned Nissan 370Z and the 4 types of exhaust sounds - stock, sports, semi-racing and racing.
They all sound good
The stock sound is like the real thing, then the throaty warble of the sports exhaust, the raspy snarl of the semi-racing and the gurgling race one. All cars have sound variations. Not sure if the intake mods have any changes though

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaauiteyeVA

I don't know wether this is a bug or due to PS3's small memory
But if you set say a race exhaust in your garage and go to the track, it will sound as it is, but if you change back to stock exhaust in the settings page while on the track screen, the sound won't change. And vice versa stock to race.
When you exit back out and then go back in the sound changes...

I unlocked a new photomode location, and decided to bring my new pride and joy along

Now to try it on Indy Road Course to compare physics with GT Academy Time Trial on Comfort soft tyres. Even a quick try on Hard Sports tyres was quite slippy with full throttle turn exits

the 370Z has some nice bodykit options, but I also like it stock

Quote from Chrisuu01 :Want my stealth GTR for your 787b ?

I tried trading Stealth cars with my other profile, and the game won't allow it....no go on Chromeline cars either

I did a run with the 787B on Indy road course, holy crap, it's scary fast! Sounds manic too, but a bit too distorted.
You can't keep it on full throttle for long on the track. I'll make a vid

Anyone in for trading Stealth cars? I want the the GT-R, SLS and Audi LMP, I have the NSX, Mclaren F1 and 787B.

From what I gather when you gift cars you lose em, but I should be able to download another set from the PSN shop, from my download list. Either that or use another account on my PS3 to do likewise
I'll experiment with my other PSN account and try gift from one to the other and see how it works, and wether I can redownload them

edit - ok game won't allow it

Quote from Boris Lozac :So that's what log is for

Btw, anyone else have it and tried it on the ring? It feels like i'm going million miles an hour, but the best lap i managed was 7:46.xx.. (everything off except abs at 1) so even GTR is faster on the ring?

GT-R is much easier to drive on the limit, just like in real life
Prologue was much the same, but GT5 has better physics, even then the GT-R likes to move around under braking, especially when your going downhill. I read in reviews that the real GT-R is the same

I re-rolled 2 new B-Spec drivers, 1 full hot, and 1 full cold. The Hot one likes to do full massive drifts with my Chromeline M3 when he gets heated
He's also more aggressive. The cold one is more conservative when it comes to overtaking, but seems to win and get leads better.

Pretty cool seeing an AI drift like a pro

Quote from JJ72 :But the Replay file is copy protected.....so it's useless.

Just select the replay file in the game, press triangle and export it out to the XMB in the replay theatre in
It will be in the Game > save data utility section of the XMB

Copy to USB device etc, maybe you can transfer it via the PS3 browser
Then after the transfer you just select copy from USB device in XMB Game section and load it up in game in the replay theatre
or as ghost in time trial

From Kaz's twitter
  • Flexible camera angles and “dynamic and wide-area lighting needs” are to blame for the sometimes blocky shadows. Yamauchi admits they are a problem and wants to improve them.
  • Yamauchi appears to consider the possibility of removing the in-game HUD (heads-up-display features) at some point in the future.
  • To unlock the Red Bull X1, you’ll need to complete the “Sebastian Vettel Challenge”, which appears at Level 30.
  • Online “lounge” functionality and other features will be added “one by one”.
  • Polyphony Digital continues to work on fully supporting the Logitech G25 and G27, though Yamauchi admits he would like a “new steering device soon”…
  • Mechanical damage options will be implemented in a new update for GT5 coming “early December”.
  • As you may know, many players noticed that GT5’s face-tracking functionality only worked in Arcade mode. According to Yamauchi, it’s not available in GT mode due to memory issues with the PS3.
  • In-game rewards (such as the monetary prize in GT5 Prologue) for your performance in online events is something Polyphony Digital is considering, and may be implemented in a future update.
  • Gran Turismo 5’s official, 2-disc sound-track will be released soon.
  • Yamauchi wanted to implement a “free roam” gameplay mode in GT5, where players could drive around, respecting speed limits and obeying traffic laws, and even exit the car to walk around and explore the environment on foot.
  • The YouTube replay upload feature had to be pulled from the final version of the game because it took a very long time to render and it consumed too much memory. Yamauchi is still considering it, however.

Quote from lukelfs :Hmm my game doesn't let me go online, it just gets stuck on GT logo, gonna try reinstalling it to see if it fixes anything

Make sure it's not the wheel bypassing the pad. I made that mistake and deleted my game install to reinstall - which also wipes your replays and custom tracks... although the salvage function in the options>utilities might allow you to rescue them

Other than that disconnect the net and boot up offline

Quote from JJ72 :What a joke you can't send replay or even a ghost file? Does PD think typical GT users have no friends?

I think you can copy the replay files onto a USB device and transfer them to PC/net etc from the XMB
Maybe with the PS3's browser as well.

I need to check if the course maker tracks also show in the XMB.
Replays and tracks seem to be stored with the main game files, rather than your save file.

Getting to grips with the Stealth NSX GT500. The physics of this car feel awesome. Feels very much like in the GT Academy time trial, but with a better tyre model. You can catch slides now with the DFGT wheel and the Force Feedback feels better

No aids, no ABS, brake balance set to 4:2

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2oOkX26jmsI

I took a bunch of cars around the Indy road course and they all felt different.

The tyre model feels much different to the Time Trial, you can catch the slides now
I'm using a DFGT, which is amazing since you can feel and control the slides.

On Racing Hards -
The Nascars actually felt heavy, but probably somewhat "arcadey".
The Mazada 787b was a white knuckle ride!
The NSX GT500 was sublime, but funny that the GTR GT500 feels really tame. This is with all aids off and ABS off, with brake balance set at 4:2

On Sports hards -
The LP640 felt like a powerful heavy car it is.
SLS was more grippy on the bank turns, and it feels stable through turns and drifts nicely, you can control the slides on Sports tyres, they feel progressive

Also sense is speed feels correct now. In the S bend section, in the time trial, the 50-60kph felt so sluggish. Now even in that section it feels fast. The Mazda 787b feels scary fast!

It works, you just need to do it 4 times, and refresh the page

Anyway I just took the Zonda R on Deep Forest and did a time trial with my Chromeline LP640 with hard sports tyres on Indy road course, and I take back what I said before. This feels exactly like the Time Trial with these cars!

Talk about treading on egg shells feeling

The Lambo will lose it's rear end on the banked turn with full thottle

Could be wider IMO
