Quote from Boris Lozac :Cool.. that Skid help aid is a relief, i think that's ON (i HOPE it is) on that Super GT GT-R vid you posted, on the Ring.. i mean he spins from like 250kmh, does a 90 degree spin once and stops imediately, he would be spinning like mad in rl..

I've seen people spin 3-4 few times in a row, but others complain about how that's not realistic as well
I know I spun quite easily with an Enzo on the ring using a control pad on the Ring when I played the demo and I was trying to drive conservatively. The grass is also very slippery, maybe too much. But that was the demo.

I think some aids have been on by default in some demos, like active steering. That option only started to show recently. I can see how that would help you drift.
There are 3 main aids - ASM ( active stability management) GT staple.
Skid help and active steering. The last one helps for control pad users.

See if I can find that picture showing the aids from the full version

Quote from Boris Lozac :All of these videos look too arcade for me, still haven't seen a single 'sim-like' video from this full version, haven't seen it since that Ai-locking up the brakes and getting sideways vid...

Because the person posting these videos is a casual player, who uses the buttons on a control pad to steer with aids on, most of them time, unless someone requests he turn them off like he did with the Laguna Seca civic video

GT caters for both crowds, it's a matter of control method and aids.
The Skid help option, adds grip when a slide is detected according to the tool tip in one of the videos. This replaces the Standard physics setting in Prologue and recent Demos.

Don't worry I'll be posting some vids when I get the game next Thursday, played with a wheel with everything off

Quote from brandons48 :It just seems like a major waste of time, they could have spent more time making more premium cars :/

But yeah, 22B and Pulsar GTI-R... premium, please! :P

Well they put a ton more work into each car now, visually and sound wise, as can be heard. Best drive by sounds in game by far.
And most probably tuning and exhaust upgrades changes the sound further still.

So I can see now why they haven't been able to churn out the cars like before. I wouldn't be surprised to see free DLC car updates. Prologue only had 32 cars or so on release. They doubled that through updates, and added a few more tracks as well

Quote from brandons48 :Just saw the GT Auto vid that said we can't change the wheels on a standard car..

Just to pick out a few of my favourite cars from the list I have here...

# S Nissan SKYLINE GT-R (R32) ‘91
# S Nissan SKYLINE GT-R (R33) ‘95
# S Nissan SKYLINE GT-R (R34) ‘00
# S Nissan SILVIA Q’s (S13) ‘88
# S Nissan SILVIA Q’s AERO (S14) ‘93
# S Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 ‘85
# S Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 Evolution 2 Rally Car ‘86
# S Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 Rally Car ‘85
# S Saleen S7 ‘02
# S Subaru IMPREZA Coupe 22B-STi Version ‘98

And that's just a small selection from a part of the list.

Seriously PD, a Prius over a Saleen? A Suzuki Cervo over a Subaru 22B?
I'm all for GT5 and stuff but... they need to listen to their fans an awful lot more.

You know there are Premium versions of those cars?
All the GT-R models listed have Premium versions, and there is a Premium S14 as well I think

But I wished there was a Premium 22B, that is my fav car, after the Pulsar GTI-R (not seen since GT2)

Course creator themes so far

- Toscana (Tarmac)
- Eifel (Circuit)
- Mt Aso (Tarmac)
- Liege (Gravel)
- Alaska (Snow)
- Eifel (Kart)
- Tokyo Bay (Kart)

Mt Aso could be our generic mountain touge course theme
Maybe more will be unlocked as you go through the rally and other special events

Mount Aso is in Japan, a large volcano

Quote from JJ72 :outdated model looks outdated. No panel gaps.

They're textured, instead of actual polys, but the filtering cleans up so they're more faint.

In Gt4 the texturing was a lot more jagged looking

Some inrace photo mode pics of some standard cars on Suzuka East, not too bad at all. Not as detailed, but look ok in motion. Ahh if only you could change the rims...

Glad they got rid of the shiny road in Prologue's Suzuka

Recent video from a Japanese store demo unit. Looks intense!
Pro physics, R2 tyres all round, active steering off, traction control at 5
Super GT GT-R on the Ring

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFxjiImbGhk

It looks like GT5 no longer has the Standard/Pro Physics thing. Just one physics type + more aids
Not sure how the are going to do ranking for time trials now...

Quote from JJ72 :it's alright for single player, but the list gets a bit short when you try to run a league and fill the grid with different cars (which I plan to), is there a performance index where you can tune cars from different tier to similiar performances?

GT5:Prologue had a PP point index system
Horsepower to weight ratio gives you a baseline PP.
Using better tyres adds more PP and vice versa.
Adding more downforce likewise, and making the car lighter or heavier the same.

Off course for high speed tracks horsepower + more weight to keep the PP the same makes the car perform better and vice versa, but if you add a lot of grip and downforce, you will have low horsepower, so there is a lot of balancing to get the right combination for each track and car.
Which makes it fun in an interesting way, but some cars are inherently better than others at the same PP value. Plus increasing engine power tends to reduce low/mid range torque, so there is usually a range where the car performs better
Maybe if you can lock the tyre type then that will balance things a bit better, but some cars work better with different tyres on the front and back - in Prologue anyway.

See how it works in Prologue as I move the horsepower slide (plus the power/torque graph)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4TuRHGUvi8

It should still be in GT5, based on some old "online" mode pics
The Tuned 370z from the Time Trial shown here is worth 511PP.

Quote from JJ72 :I think what they can improve upon in GT6 is to add a vector control point on every computer generated corners, than you can effectively control how long the apex is and how close each corner are with each other.

Or just do it like Modnation racers

But that for me is just too time consuming though. And the fact you do need some idea what you want.
One of each type would be cool though. Have a more complete/complex version for those that want total control, and a more random seed generated versions for the lazy bums like me..or people that like surprises

Quote from Boris Lozac :Not saying it isn't long, but the 'creation' tools are like severely limited, we can't say how long each section is, you just use the preditermined sliders and make the most of it..

Yeah it's semi-random, but that the beauty of it, you don't have any predeteremined conceptions of the track, like driving on a new track everytime

Or country road with the other themes
You just use less sections if you want a shorter track

Anyway GT6 should expand on this much more, now that the "operating system" is in place

This could be a great resource for leagues for a long time to come. A new track every round

That track he made was pretty long, he only went through 4 sections (of 7) in the video and that was around 2 mins in a 300hp race car.

There are elevations, but it's based on the generated topography in this particular theme.

You can also set track width to a pretty narrow range

Quote from speed1230 :Could you make one completely from scratch?

No, you somewhat randomised based on the parameters you select for each section, up to 7 sections. Circuit or point to point, depending on theme

But you can share and race online with them

Boris it look pretty good. You can create infinite tracks by the looks of it
You can set time of day and weather too, in the vid, 6am to 6 pm, day, plus a night option, sun/rain

7 themes so far, and maybe more themes via updates/DLC

These are the reasonably priced cars:
Suzuki Liana (aka Aerio) 92kW
Chevrolet Lacetti 90-101kW
Kia Cee'D 85-102kW

Going by the figures in GT5P we could use the Suzuki Swift Sport 2007 (Premium car) which has 92kW.
It also costs around 11,000 pounds which is reasonably priced.

Quote :Clarkson actually did say in one older episode that the Swift could be their next reasonably priced car

Quote from MijnWraak :Can turn off opening movie with crap music at 1:30 in that video

I actually like the Lounge music in GT5

Kaz says there is plenty of Lounge - Drum and Bass in GT5, as far as the menu music goes. Even in GT5 Prologue, there was enough music that it never felt stale.

You can use your own music in any case

For the damage of street cars me think licensing has to do with it, Nascar and rally cars should get the full deal.

And the car list looks way dodgy, there were premium spec R32 and R33 Skyline GT-R in older builds of Prologue and GTHD....

Some people are saying you can't change them, others are saying you can't "customized" them (whatever that means).

Anyone know?

The wording is ambiguous, so no one knows yet
