Quote from brt900 :think i might be going to f1 at silverstone so ill post what its running when im there

I think you've misunderstood what iRacing World Tour is:
Quote :Starting next month iRacers will be able to participate in the iRacing World Tour, a series of same-weekend virtual versions of more than a dozen of the world's top motorsport events. Beginning in January with the Grand-Am Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway's road course, and then continuing with the Daytona 500 in February, the Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring in March, and including the Indianapolis 500 and the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, iRacing has scheduled a total of 14 events ranging from American short-track classics to Formula One and Australian V8 Supercars. The series concludes in November with the running of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series finale at Miami-Homestead Speedway.

Quote from StableX :what does this mean? oooooh!!!!

Keep your pants on, I very much doubt they could afford licencing costs for F1 car. It's probably going to be Dallara Indycar at Silverstone which is close enough.

Quote from bbman :I know that... The point is what did the other "team"members do while the two guys implementing that were at work?

And now with the next build that supposedly focuses on improvements to the already existing content (finally!) there are no new content releases... I'm sorry, I call BS on the whole "two dedicated teams"-thing...

Short list of content that has been announced, at least what I can remember from top of my head:

Cars:
Ford Mustang FR500S (Latest status update couple days ago: scan data has been collected)
Ford GT-R
Ford V8 Supercar

Tracks:
Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit
Circuit Park Zandvoort
Oulton Park Circuit

You'll get a good idea on the release dates by checking the iRacing World Tour schedule:

Quote from bbman :What has google to do with it (especially since the numbers seem to be input by the URL)? Does it take more races by one individual into account? Anyway, double the members in at least four times more leagues, you have to see where I'm coming from...

Darren Marsh does his "Statmonkey" posts which have all kinds of stats, that graph shows number of active accounts each week, meaning drivers who have raced at least one race. He uses a script to pull out all that data and Google Chart API is used to generate this particular graph.

Rest of the stats can be found here:
http://members.iracing.com/ifo ... readID=63978&tstart=0

If you look at the race starts per club, it adds up to ~25000 race starts per week. With 5000 active racers it averages out to ~5 races per driver on weekly basis + time trials, practice sessions and qualifys. Or if you'd prefer it in graph, here's one, you can clearly see when online practise sessions were introduced.

Quote from bbman :Why content again? We can't have a proper 24h because once again opening the restrictive system everything is built around proves too hard, but instead of addressing missing features they add content...

You do realise that people who produce new cars and content are not the same guys working on ingame mechanics or researching for ways to improve overall physics. Having more content does not make the sim worse, you can pick and choose what series you want to run.

My guess is, it's an announcement on a new contract which will most likely be for GT-class and be direct competitior to Corvette, which would hopefully get multiclass racing started that has been a long-time request amongst some people. Then again, it's long way from announcement to actual release.

Quote from bbman :When will they react to the ever declining active members and get the core up to date instead of adding more and more to it?

Tony Gardner is teasing us once again, this time in one of many "bring us this and that car, kthxbai!" threads.

Quote :Re: ***Official PORSCHE support page: iRacing bring us a 911 please***

We have some exciting news that we should publish late next week. Think you will like it! (I know, what a tease.) Rest assured we are always exploring options for content to make the service more fun for more people.

In a game where online gameplay is entirely community driven and updates are mostly bugfixes or minor improvements, subscription model just isn't reasonable. In most subscription based games you get frequent content patches that add new stuff into the game every couple months, which is very different from LFS update cycle.

Quote from andRo. :I'm not sure about this, but I don't think you can. I know that you can't convert anything from for ex. .max to .3DS in blender, but not sure about exporting.
Check the attachment. Select car's body and press F9, and then as shown in the picture. If that doesn't fix it, sorry, can't help.

Should have probably clarified that I downloaded Bogey Jammer's LFS car package in Blender format and I'm trying to export them into a format that I can then import into Maya. But, exporting in .obj seems to reset all smoothing groups and have multiple disconnected edges which I need to then go and merge.

Question for you Blender users, is there any way to export out of Blender to some common format like .obj AND preserve smoothing groups?

I can't figure out how to do it and fixing an RB4 looking like this would take a while:

Gave it a go, not very good at this 2D-stuff but I suppose it's decent for an amateur.

Quote from Dajmin :My biggest worries are for people around him. If that bonnet is 270 degrees C, what happens if you need to open it? Or, worst case, if you run into someone or something. The heat of the metal plus the jet firing out the top would melt everything around it and potentially ignite the already-highly-dangerous jet fuel.

There's no need to worry since car is not capable of moving unless pushed around.

This just looks like one of those threads from a clueless citykid who has no idea what they're talking about. Trees are renewable resource and forests get planted over and over again to produce wood over a long period of time. Granted, that doesn't always happen in countries where it's probably cheaper to buy more land to harvest than keep using what recycle the old land. But it's the same old problem with you have with industry in 3rd world countries due to lack of regulations and control.

Quote from bmwe30m3 :Real men dont use photoshop, but if you use then

There's nothing wrong with using Photoshop for post-processing and color correction, it's more efficient way of doing it than re-doing a whole render for small tweak. In this case however, image editing won't fix the problem of unmatching reflection map on the car that is not in line with the background.

Quote from simulation :adding new taxes all the time....that's what drives people to piracy (not the arrgh ...ahoi mattey kind :P)...
screw the tax...i'll just get a card for my reciever ...that's all i heard from people so far concerning the new t.v tax...

i'm considering doing the same...why pay for t.v and another tax...when i can get it for free.

Another thing to consider is, whole broadcasting model is outdated. Basically you pay for content that may or may not be what you want, even "latest news" are usually on 24h delay compared to internet news-sites. As for tv-shows, DVD boxes are not that expensive, you get to watch shows on your schedule and in better quality.

Quote from sviccc13211 :My 1st renders.Rate it ;-)

On first picture, car lighting doesn't match with the background. Building and car are casting shadows on opposite sides.

On second picture, car is too small and you're using some kind of studio lighting setup with multiple lightsources. Looking at the shadows cast around car, it gives the impression that there's 2-3 invisible lightbulbs hanging above the car.

Quote from bunder9999 :I'd cancel my cable, but then I wouldn't have any tv.

How about you guys? Are you going to pay the fee, or cancel?

Basically, this sounds very much like the TV-fee we got here, it's ~230€/year per household. But since the broadband connections have become pretty much standard and RSS feeds keep you up to date with latest news, many people including me have stopped watching TV altogether. But, this will be fixed soon by extending the TV fee to households with broadband connections and upping the price to ~300€/year.

Gotta love paying for "services" that you don't need.

Mmm.... I'd probably try using reflectionmap or HDR dome to make those prizes stand out a bit more and give them that expensive look. Right now they're just reflecting the gray enviroment, which makes them look bit dull.

Used to think that people who run for fun were maybe little bit crazy, but small runs do give you that good, energized feeling as long as you stay within your own limits. Most people are just turned off by the fact that if they have not exercised at all, they tend to push too hard and get exhausted, then crawl back to safety of their sofa and turn on TV.

Unfortunately it's quite cold this time of year and I hate cold, so I'll just have to wait for spring and continue getting back into shape. Been slacking for past few years and just before the winter, I decided to shape up and do frequent walks with little bit of running to slowly build stamina. My goal is to get back to the point I was during last couple months of army where I could run long distances and feel great afterwards, it might take a long time and I hope I have the discipline to keep it up.

There is absolutely no need to buy another PSU for HD4770, your Corsair CX400 is rated 30A on +12v which is far more than your system requires. It is also made by Seasonic which is one of the best manufacturers in today's consumer PSU market and you can google up multiple reviews with very impressive results. All I'm saying is that if you "upgrade" to bargain bin 500-600W PSU, you might actually end up with worse unit than what you have right now.

Edit: Oh wait, last specs posted are in no way related to OP....

Happiness is so fleeting....
I'm really struggling to get around Road America with Dallara, making each lap four miles of fail and misery. On the brightside, I can get into 1:49's fairly easily if I can actually find the proper line through each corner and not toss it into walls

Quote from MadCat360 :The Earth will continue to warm up and cool down just like it has for all of time. It may, possibly, get hot enough that one day the sea levels rise noticeably. Whoop dee frigging do. Go live on a hill if it scares you that much (it doesn't even have to be a big one, 5 feet will have you covered until the continent sinks into oblivion!). It won't get so hot that all life will be extinguished.

I wouldn't under-estimate the greenhouse effect, one can take a look at our neighbor planet Venus to see what it can cause. Even if it's further away from sun compared to Mercury, it's the hottest planet in our system (+460C) thanks to greenhouse gases. It has very thick atmosphere that consists mostly CO2 (carbon-dioxide) with small amounts of nitrogen. Planet itself is covered in clouds which reflect back most of the sunlight and daylight is much darker than on Earth, but radiation that gets through is not easily reflected back to space and thus results in high temperatures.
