Got a chance to try it, it's definately not even close to realistic when it comes to handling but it's significant improvement over previous games. Enable spring/damper effects and centering spring from profiler, set steering ratio to 300-400 degrees. If you've played Test Drive Unlimited, driving feels is pretty similiar to that.

It's still quite unpolished product, changing some graphics details will cause crash to desktop. Changing resolution and v-sync works fine, but touch any other settings and it will crash few seconds into race. Luckily performance isn't too bad, some framerate drops when there's plenty of cars visible but that's due to having to run with high details.

Quote from IlGuercio :Im starting my free month now, what to expect?

First of all, take your time and figure out how the web interface works. It's not complicated but very different to other sims. You sign up for events instead of joining servers.

On road side, you'll start off with a Pontiac Solstice which is not the most exciting car to drive. Like someone said on the forums, "Point of the Solstice is to get out of the Solstice". You can jump into Spec Racer once you get SR over 3.0, that's bit more like a racecar but still quite low on power. For me, D-licence is where the racing really begins with two awesome cars; Skip Barber RT2000 and VW Jetta TDI.

On oval side, rookie Legends is still one of my favorite cars and there's some great competition if you can get into race with high rated drivers. Lower splits are usually filled with complete rookies in their first races and they tend to get messy.

Kinda makes it sound like a 50€ screenshot generator

Quote from 5haz :I think people have forgotten what a game is for, doth it really matter so long as you're having fun?

The thing is, horrible gameplay usually kills the fun. I have not tried NFS:Shift but on previous titles cars were difficult to drive not because of high realism, but because "handling" was so bizarre that you really had no idea how those hovercrafts were supposed to be driven. Take any sim with decent FFB and you can jump right into it and be running good laptimes with very little effort, cars also feel much easier to drive and let you relax and just have fun.

Poor gameplay is poor gameplay, arcade is not a synonym for fun.

When comparing to iRacing, you gotta keep in mind that tire sounds in that sim are exaggerated since there currently isn't a way to simulate G-forces and "feel the car".

Quote from r4ptor :Thanks

Here's something different.

I like it, nice to see something completely different to usual black/gray scenes. Could probably do with some small withered bushes and sticks here and there.

Quote from Dajmin :Could it be the arm of a monkey it ate? Just because it's poking out of the side doesn't mean it's attached at the end

That's what I thought as well, mutating a whole arm with fingers, muscles and bone structure is far more complex than "human tail".

Writer has just made an assumption that snake was born with an extra arm, insert comment from scared elderly woman about snake actually using the arm and you just got yourself a juicy story to sell.

Quote from mutt107 :and why does the game lag even on lowest settings, lfs don't

Probably because it's labeled as "Alpha" and very much work-in-progress.

Everen: That's a good start, but there's so much more you can do with it. You could add small camfer to those pillar edges to remove those unrealistic sharp edges, maybe do large fillet on the edges where it connects to ceiling. Then add road markings for parking spots and guidelines, couple signs and maybe some piping going on the roof.

Quote from JJ72 :bodykits? It's the "original" body!!

Yeah, looks like there's only one version with ugly front bumper that is clearly "refined" by someone from AMG. That extra bit pushing outwards from bottom quarter looks so out of place, concept renders from couple months back had much better styling. Don't get me wrong, I love the "Gullwing" retro styling with the grill, bonnet and wheel arches.

Console hardware hasn't gotten any faster, so it should run just fine on any modern PC.

Is there going to be non-AMG version of that SLS because I think it would look better without aggressive bodykits?

Quote from trebor901 :Game quality is decreasing because game companies tend to use a lot of HDR now to cover up their bad quality 3d modelling. Also game companies are going for graphics over gameplay which is stupid

Actually, most games have very well done 3d meshes. However, detailwork is mostly done with normal mapping since let's you fake all the little detail that you just can't implement as actual geometry without killing the performance.

Personally, I wouldn't run SLI or Crossfire on that PSU. It's not something you should be cheap about, bad quality unit can take out whole system if it breaks down. If it has blue led fans, stay away from it.

Try to find a store where they have those headphones and let you listen to them. I couldn't tell the difference between HD595 and HD555 so I went with cheaper option, DT770 Pro's had little bit too much bass and price.

One thing to look out for is comfort, what specs won't tell you is how well suited they are for your head. Worst thing you can do is spend lots of money on "the best" headphones which are uncomfortable to use.

Problem you might be having is that your card may not support AA+HDR. ATI cards have supported it since X1900 series, but for Nvidia it took little bit longer and that's why you see games that just don't allow for the sake of compatibility.

Also, those Flatout screenshots are with high graphic details turned on while GTA4 screenshots are on low resolution, no AA and very low texture resolution.

I can't really see it replacing bolts, welds or any other traditional methods in attaching two pieces together.

What forces you to buy the game before trying demo?
It's not going anywhere if you don't buy it on the release date.

Not much going on, desktop is becoming a just a temporary storage space since I've switched to using search function instead of shortcut icons. Cut in the middle is visible because main screen is on lower horizontal resolution to keep aspect ratio correct.

Looks fairly interesting, but ingame footage shows a game that is not really polished up. HUD looks too messy and info is scattered around, obscuring your view. I like the art style but you really need to use some colors to make it work; it's very difficult to see gray monsters against gray backround, even with black silhuettes.

Quote from mutt107 :around 17 million weapons RPS (roleplaying shooter)
what more could you ask for

From what he described, items are basically generated on the fly. Basically same kind of system as you'd see in any MMOPRG or dungeon crawler, closest comparison would be Hellgate: London.

Quote from AlienT. :Unfortunately they've cancelled the free trials due to nincompoops ubusing it by signing up with fake names and causing mayhem on the Rookie servers.

I think that was only for the paypal thing that allowed people to use fake names. Normally you're needed to signup using creditcard even if it's free trial, they won't charge you but username will be the name you have in that card.

Quote from spacedskunk :It might not look that nice but you have to admit, very impressive numbers and new methods at least that I've seen...and at the end of the day its a supercar which generally means its trying to be as fast as possible so I wouldn't really expect it to look anything other than functional.

What you're describing is a racecar. Supercars need to be desirable, have something else than just high performance figures.

Difference between LFS and iRacing is that with LFS you get the sim and you can do whatever you want with it, run private leagues or cruising servers. iRacing is more like a service and sim is just one part of the overall package.

iRacing series are not exactly like leagues, races are going on around the clock and you join a race rather than specific server. To get a better idea, I added this season's schedule in attachment which should explain it.

As for the track details, having great physics engine doesn't really help if tracks are smooth and perfect, which they definately are not in real-life. It's kinda hard to explain how it changes the driving experience, but it does make a difference.

anttt69: I think the idea is to gradually get you into oval racing, I've never really got around running full season in LM and instead I jumped straight from Legends to Silverado.... let's just say that it wasn't the smartest thing ever, I was doing ok on big tracks but on short tracks I was horrible and got involved into many accidents. Probably shouldn't have skipped LM for that short track experience.
