Quote from word. :You also might want to turn on Transparency antialiasing (only works on 7 series or higher cards).

I suppose it works on 6xxx serie aswell since I've used it with 6800GS card on several games.

Just use Mental-Ray instead of Brazil Rio.

Quote :but ppl say use Max 8, so is 3ds max 2008 = max 8 or is it max 9? really confused.

3dsmax 2008 is the latest version, so basically you could think of of it as version 10 but it doesn't have that much new stuff compared to 9.

Quote from Ziil :I did play WoW for a week or so but I'm not into fantasy so I quit But I have been playing Anarchy Online for almost 3 years

Too bad there's only so much ToT and quest blitzing (run fixer, run) you can take :P
But crafting in AO is much more interesting and complicated than what I've seen in any other MMORPG.

WR sets may not be very easy to drive however.

Quote from mrodgers :Why buy a license just to drive continuously night after night for years on a single combo? You can do that for free with the demo .

In Demo you do it in slow motion.

Anyways, I love racing on CD1 even thought I've been spending alot time on CTRA1 lately to get that damn silver license. T1 is always a mess but retard activity is much lower than on a CTRA, besides I think Aston National is good track to start with when getting into GTR cars.

Played for 1,5 years of which last 6 month at top level raiding. Then expansion came out and I didn't like it, so my account has been inactive since. I doubt I will get back to WoW since I've already beat my own personal goals and even went way beyond that with endgame 40-man content.

I suppose you could compare it to situation where you've raced a while for some really good LFS team and suddenly you'd have to go back to public racing...

Don't get me wrong, WoW is still a good game but I just had my fun already.

Quote from DevilDare :what is that Mental ray? I heard alot of ppl talking about it but never got it what it is used for, sorry for my noobinesh

Ít's a renderer that is shipped with 3dsmax. Just like V-ray and Brazil, it has much more features and improvements over standard scanline renderer.

You have all the tools you need for studio quality rendering. Only problem is learning how to use lights and configure your renderer properly.

My method of lightning up the scene:
- Place and setup lights one by one, turn others off.
- 3 spotlights lights are usually enough; Main, filler and highlight.
- Use wide cone and very small hotspot to avoid unrealistic sharp light-to-dark backround transition.
- Light should never be coming from same or opposite direction of camera.
- Mainlight is the mainsource of light in scene, but also main source of shadows. Try to find good balance between those two so there's good contrast in your render.
- Filler light is used to brighten up the dark/shadowy side of your scene. To give some idea of correct brightness, I usually use dark gray or very dark blue color and shadows should be barely noticable.
-Last but not least I use one light above the scene to add highlight on curvy parts and to cast subtle ground shadow so objects don't look like they're floating.

Feels quite strange to call people "street racers" when most of them do their best to ruin car's handling and performance by adding heavy subwoofers into the trunk and run on a suspension setup which works only on roads that are smooth as a glass.

I went straight to GTR cars when I got S2, so here's my little feedback on those:

For XRR the most important thing is to get turbo pressure up before launch or otherwise you stall for sure, but downside of FR layout is that you'll be lacking rearwheel grip compared to FZR.
I usually do burnout while lights are counting down, atleast I don't have to over-rev engine to get boost up and I get warm rear tires for getting power down faster in T1 exit.

FZR on the otherhand is just amazing off the line due to weight distribution, just floor it and go. I've set 1st gear ratio so that there's enough wheelspin to get moving and get revs high enough before grip returns.

As for FXR, can't say much because I don't drive it but it seems to be pretty much equal to XRR and you can stall easily with that 4WD.

Yeah, it must suck to find out that was just a dream.

I wouldn't be so worried about rolling over, but actually hitting something, like big animal such as an elk which is quite common sight atleast here. In those scenarios it's usually the roof and windscreen that take the impact and car usually ends up looking something like this.

Drawing reflections and shadows in Photoshop is not very efficient and I don't really see any point using Bespoke in the first place. Go download Blender which is open-source modeling & rendering application so you can make whatever rims you like to export into your scene instead of being handicapped by Bespoke.

If you only need lowpoly rims like in LFS, it doesn't take longer than 10 minutes to make.

I use one base set for each car and copy it into track specific setups so I basically get the same package everytime with some some little tweaks that improve the handling per track without changing it completely.
Edit: Just like Gimpster here

Quote from J@tko :Yes, Mr Bob Smith. Here they are:

Setup packs: Road Going ... Easy Race ... Drag Racing

I've understood that those setups are quite outdated.

If you just want rims for Poser renders, don't you think it's a whole lot easier and faster to make them by yourself using proper modeling application?

Problem here is, people who need to learn this stuff are most likely not reading forums. Taking inside line and going side-by-side into a corner is not really pleasant experience on public servers, quite often other guy still goes for optimum line crashing you both out and bang, you're banned.

What annoys me most is that on servers with different cars people abuse the fact that some cars are much more "fragile" to body contacts and spin out very easily.

Well, game was fine on beta and it ran very well on 6800GS, but patch 1.66A caused huge performance drop and it ain't running all that smoothly on my current system with A64 3000+@2,4Ghz, 2Gb and x1950pro.

Quote from ajp71 :There is an all rallies gravel/snow/tarmac mod in RSRBR4 as well as loads of new cars, it's a big download and a bit confusing to install but I'd strongly recommend getting it from http://www.rallyesim.com/

Now there's an understatement...

I had my wisdom teeth pulled out aswell few months ago and now the other one is making itself known by causing small ache in my jaw and left side of the face, another visit to the tooth doctor is in order I guess.

Last time I was scared as hell, I've never had any kind of operation before. Dentist himself was doing a great job, but removing the tooth was taking quite long since it had to be taken out in bits, lights and power went out twice when he was drilling, taste of the stuff in my mounth was making me vomit and the whole hospital environment was making me really stressed so I had to take a time-out before he could finish the job.

Well, the car has been exported to GTR2 and that way it's much easier to try it on different tracks and setups. Haven't really bothered to drive it that much since I don't like the default setup at all and I'm way too lazy to spend many hours tweaking it just for the sake of occasional hotlapping.

For me the main issue with Viper is the looks, it just doesn't look exciting at all. Supercars are the cars you see in posters and desktop backrounds, they need to have the looks to them stand out in a crowd and make you wish you would someday own one yourself.

I'd have to go with Zonda aswell, that sound just gives me chills.

Good arcade racing games are great for much more relaxed gaming compared to racing sims. I love the GT serie on Playstation and used to like NFS too until ricers took over and raped it with a NOS bottle.

Arcade games don't give that same excitement and adrenaline rush as good online race on LFS, but that's not something I want if I'm looking forward to just relax after a long day.
