I don't really see what's the big deal in lifting throttle. Even if some cars can handle flatshift without cooking the clutch, you still have to learn how to do it to drive other cars. Besides, you now need to do manual throttle blip on downshift anyways...
Just tested how XFG takes the punishment and I managed to get 2 laps of BL1 by flatshifting, clutch gave up on the last uphill just before finish on lap 2.
But I'm pretty sure FZR wouldn't even make it to the end of lap 1.
Also had a great time practising throttle blip on couple different cars which I've never done before, but doing it yourself adds a whole new level to the driving experience and I wouldn't go back to auto-blip even if it was enabled again.
Well, it's not perfect yet and heats up too fast, but still you can't expect the clutch to last very long in scenario you're pointed out where you're slipping cluth with full throttle on second gear at standing start. In a real car you would be really gentle with the throttle in that kind of situation.
I'm working on FXR version and I should be able to get some renders out soon(?).
Edit: Decided to redo flag pattern on rear, takes some time to build it all those lines from scratch and not really sure when it's going to be done. But I'm working on it even though I've been kinda busy playing test patch.
Edit2: Most of the decalwork done, but rear flags turned out so nice that now the ones on bonnet look butt ugly and I've got to draw them again tomorrow.
I suppose this skin has been done already but here's a skin based on 350Z seen on Forza Motorsport 2 trailer. It's not 1:1 replica but I kinda like the way it is.
My first try at skinning and I think it turned out ok. I'm just not completely satisfied which front- and rearwing which look quite bland but can't come up with anything better, so...
Somewhere between 50.000-100.000km on Demo can't be far off, I started on S1 and played it like mad. Now I've had S2 license for 1,5 months and I've already rolled 11.000km, but I guess that's alot to do with driving faster cars.
You must have had some backround processes taking up resources, it just doesn't make any sense. Recently only FPS issues I've had with LFS were when I was using GF6800GS before my upgrade and tried to use decent amount of AA and AF at the same time.
I did race LFS Demo online alot with 900Mhz Duron & r8500LE...
No point to upgrade just for LFS, you CPU is no problem even with full grids. I have A64 3000+(2,4Ghz) and I honestly can't notice any frame drops unless I turn FPS display on and stare at it.
Anyways, first thing to do is to check that your TV actually supports higher resolutions. It being only 32" it may not support higher modes than 720p.
1080x760 50/60Hz = 720p
1920x1080 50/60Hz = 1080i/p
I could go on with a rant about how overhyped whole HD thing is when most commonly used 720p is really a low resolution on PC standards with eye melting 60Hz refreshrate... but I won't.
As for my recommendation, get the steering wheel since it will last you alot longer. I'm actually getting myself G25 for christmas present aswell, althought I persuaded myself to start christmas little early and wheel is coming in next couple days
Voting for LMP, it's clearly a class that is not represented in the game yet.
Many people are voting for classic GT cars, but have you considered that if we would get an old GT with 60's looks, everyone would drive it with a suspension setup that makes it feel and behave like modern racing car and that kinda defeats the purpose.
Normal tracks with wide variety of different kinds of corners and elevation changes. Most important thing is that tracks don't have that artificial "Tilke" feeling and the driving line feels natural.
I think good example are those two corners at Aston National T1, they are there just to cut the "backstraight" in half. I understand that there's not enough room for any different layout but something like tightening radius lefthander follow closely by sharp right on 2nd gear might have been more interesting.
Of current tracks that we have now, Westhill is definately my favorite.
Using R1s on FOX aswell and even that they're usually somewhere between 80-85C' if I drive smoothly, they still offer a lot more grip than R2s at ideal temperature.
Prototype might be good addition since we don't currently have any car for that class, but my only concern is that we soon have 5th single-seater in next patch and aren't those pretty much the same in terms of handling and performance, open-wheeler or not?
Similiar problem with 4-door touringcars, we already have multiple GTR cars with different layouts to choose from. As for big V8 car, great for ovals or wide tracks with smooth sweeping bends, but driving that kind of thing 20laps through Southcity sounds more like torture than fun. I'd rather poke myself in the eye with a screwdriver.
Found this quick tutorial on car paint material and rendering, it shows you really fast way to light up your scene and get decent render. Click
Just focus on getting the basic idea of what some of those rendering parameters do. Don't worry, you don't usually need to tweak more than couple settings to get the results you want. For ground plane you could create large plane and apply bend modifier to it so it looks like L from the side, and there you go, nice backround blending for your render. (just make sure that plane has enough segments for bend and use Limit Effect to keep ground flat)
There's also many some Mental Ray tutorials in your 3dsmax install disc and alot more around the web.
