Do you guys have replay of your 48.5 lap?
I'm really out of ideas on where I lose time and couldn't find fast laps from Youtube.

Edit: Uploading my lap onto Youtube and I'll add it here if you could give some tips where I'm losing time.

Edit2: Here we go, had couple mistakes there but it was really lucky lap anyways, can't keep up that kind of pace in a long run tho

Well, it's the rookie serie for a reason but just wait for higher series, your SR takes a hit even if you look at the grass

If you're not fighting for your position, just take your time with slower cars and overtake when it's safe. If you see an accident, slow down. Few seconds lost is better than crashing your car.

Try to lose one second and it should be enough to take you into top5 with occasional podium finishes. For Adv. Solstice you need to drop another second.

I haven't bought Silver Crown yet and I'll wait until I get into Mazda so I can run both C-class cars and run road and oval races back-to-back. Competing in Skippy and SC is little tricky because races are run roughly at the same time.

Looks like somebody messed up and leaked this one

If you look into "iRacing\httproot\cars\..." folder, there's "trucks\silverado" subfolders that include .dat file for this car. It's also possible to view different paintjobs using iRacing system service. Just go to car paint menu, choose any car, right-click large preview picture and copy image address. Now enter it into browser and just change the line where it says "/car.bmp?dirpath=solstice&size=2" to "/car.bmp?dirpath=trucks\silverado&size=2"

To make it little bit easier to understand how to change pattern and colors:
http://localhost:32034/car.bmp?dirpath=trucks\silverado&size=2&pat=8&lic=fc8a27&colors=FFE5E5,000000,000000

Selected car
Preview size (1-2)
Selected pattern
Licence stripe color in HEX
Colors 1, 2 and 3 in HEX

Well, some people are even paying for 1 month just to access member forums to preach how it's just a big scam and sim itself is worse than rFactor/N2K3/LFS/GTR2.

Edit: And Jertje, how do you manage to be so damn quick? 1.48:5 on Infineon already

Well, Häkkinen & Coulthard were in different situation, Mika already been in the team since -93 and DC came along three years later. Also Mika had been performing better than his team mates during seasons '94-95 and was in good relationship with the crew. Yes, team favored Häkkinen but I suppose it was to be expected. Same deal with Hamilton who's been in close contact with McLaren for years even if he has only 1,5 seasons on his back.

Quote from Nick A :I think I'd really like the Skip Barbers so if I went for the full year I'd probably use the credit to get the Skippy and the 2 tracks needed for the season. I've read mixed things about the Skippy though, although mainly positive.

Well, as you've propably read, Skippy is very much like a GPL car. Low on ponies and has tendency to slide around due to low DF. I'm not a big fan of the car itself and my sight is set on Radical already, but there's no denying that car like Skippy provides hell of a racing. Because it doesn't rely so much on DF, there's lots of passing and close fighting going on. Just finished a race where we had 3 very skilled drivers and me battling for 2nd position and places were swapped back and forth.

It's quite amazing to see how much people are improving and you're really fighting for positions, not just waiting for the guys to crash or spin out. At the same time it's really rewarding to notice how your racecraft gets better aswell, couple weeks ago bumper-to-bumper and side-by-side situations kept making me nervous and crash out but now I'm getting more confident.

I don't think Kimi can get past, his car gets so loose everytime there's a car in front.

Quote from tristancliffe :Same as above.

It's quite good fun, but not polished enough in any area to warrant that much money yet.

Your profile page says that you never participated into any events (Race, Qual, TT)

Quote from ATC Quicksilver :I really hope I get an invite, because I am getting kind of sick of the people online in LFS that just ignore you and take the same lines even if a car is in their way. From what I have read iracing has a very strict safety rating, and people don't want to risk making contact with other cars.

Well, Rookie serie is training ground so you can expect T1 incidents to happen there, but based on my observation it get's better as you move on to a higher level. But the good thing is that there's no wreckers at all and in overall I've only encountered one person who has started shouting and spamming during the race. All other race incident's I've been able to sort out through PMs and everyone has been very polite once the adrenaline has wore off.

Since there's still people asking for invites, here's some good news for you amongst other stuff.

Quote :August 1, 2008 - New Season...New Series!
New Season
With awards for the Summer 2008 iRacing Season being distributed as you read this, the third iRacing competition season of 2008 is upon us. Starting Saturday, Aug. 2, at 8 p.m. EDT (Midnight GMT), the new season brings with it several significant changes to the iRacing service. Most immediately obvious is the season name.

Out of respect for our members in the southern hemisphere, we're adopting a numeric naming convention. Rather than "Fall 2008," this season will be known as "2008-Season 3" - a bit dry, we know, but we felt it was necessary for our growing global community. Season 3 will run through the end of October and be followed, predictably enough, by 2008-Season 4, starting in early November.

New Series
As previously announced, Season 3 will feature more frequent rookie races and more convenient scheduling of qualifying sessions and races for the higher-level series. The schedule will also include new Class C series, adding the Formula Mazda, Road America and Silverstone to FIRST-sanctioned road racing, and the USAC Silver Crown car, Atlanta, Homestead and Richmond to FIRST-sanctioned oval competition.

We're also pleased to announce a new series based on the success of our 13th Week Fun Races. The SK Modified Weekly Series will feature the same schedule of tracks as the Late Model series, with Practice and Time Trial sessions running every day. But in an effort to maintain full fields, Qualifying and Race sessions will be limited to the period between
8 p.m. EDT, Wednesday and 7:59 p.m. EDT, Thursday. Like the Late Model series, the SK Weekly Series will be open to drivers with Class D or higher oval licenses (or rookies with a Safety Rating of 4.0 or higher).

New members
The next wave of invitations to join iRacing.com will go out on Wednesday, Aug. 6. With several thousand invitations being distributed and a large influx of new members expected, we'd like to remind everyone of our Code of Conduct (section 1.4 of the FIRST Sporting Code).

New members, please remember that your primary focus should be on getting acclimated to the iRacing community and driving cleanly. Above all, always be respectful to your fellow members.

Experienced iRacers, remember to be patient with those new to our community and help them find their bearings. You know how important sportsmanship and courtesy are to all of us. Please lead by example.

Reminder! Please remember the August 29th Annual Subscription Bonus Program. All members with one-year subscriptions in place as of midnight GMT on that date will receive an additional $15 iRacing credit (on top of the $60 iRacing credit that you normally receive with the purchase of an annual subscription). For full information on this Bonus Program, please see the related post in the iRacing.com Announcements section of the member forums.

Edit: Damn Jertje

Edit2: Nice, there's new patch out aswell, couple bugfixes and tweaks but here's two things that stand out:
Quote :Cars
Updated the 3rd gear ratio in the Solstice from the 2006 model's 1.37 to the 2007-present model's 1.51.
Updated full throttle engine sounds for Formula Mazda.

I hope that fixes my sound issues with Mazda.
Edit: It did! WOOOHOOOO! I can drive Mazda and my ears won't bleed!

Problem with dynamic weather is that iRacing already requires a decent set of hardware, now add in all the variables that you need to make weather changes actually look realistic.

Solstice is more or less the only car you notice it's loss, on ovals you don't change gears and rest have sequential shifter which don't necessarily require using clutch. Just can't be arsed to lookup which one of those do and don't.

Quote from Gabkicks :Is there any reason to shift properly in iRacing? Is there any sort of damage/wear/heating from flatshifting or upshifting without the clutch?

Not yet, it's one of those features that we're currently missing.

th84: Your specs look just fine, I don't think you'll have any problems.

By the way, does it look like week 13 is beginning to cool down and many people are starting to run practise sessions for next week? (I do)

Quote from ATC Quicksilver :Just looking at some videos, so far this is the best crash I have seen...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6iDtwaJOn8

I had a similiar crash with Radical, except I was going alot more faster. Front shape of those acts like a ramp when you drive on it and launches you off to the sky.

Quote from BenjiMC :It hurts watching Alonso's steering control in that video

You're not alone, his driving style is so weird. It's not just his steering work that has this "on-off" feel to it, but he also works throttle and brake in similiar fashion. I suppose it doesn't matter how it looks if it works.

Quote from Gabkicks :I can't figure out how to add you guys to my friends list.

Do a search by and click the helmet next to driver's name. This opens up a list with couple options, including "Add friend"
(It's little clumsy at the moment, for an example you can't add drivers through their profile page)

Quote from Gabkicks :woot woot. i finished 3rd only 2 legends cars finished ahead of me. It looks like the race didnt change anything about my rating. My iRating is till -- and so is my ttRating. and i'm still rated as a 2.50 rookie. So that race did nothing for me but get me more used to the game?
next race is in 13 minutes, but if it's not going to improve my rating...

This week is "fun week", regular schedule will resume on sunday. These races have no effect on any ratings.

Quote from evilpimp :Race went horrible for me. Lagged at start, frozen in T3 and hit the wall while frozen. So I just specced you lol. Then left and now started a Disk Defragmenter. I keep getting a virtual memory low error. Is there a way to fix this without necessarily buying more ram.

And also, if I get more ram do I have to change my PSU?

Most likely reason for that error is lack of disk space. Make sure you have enough free space on partition where your page file is located and make sure that it is set large enough.

You don't need to be concerned about your powersupply when adding RAM.

I pretty much ruined my race by running into two cars which were sideways on T4. After that it was just lonely race of hotlapping, so I went for it and kept lapping 1:46-1:47's when I wasn't spinning around

Improved my PB many times and it's now 01:46.442, managed to collect total of 24 incident points as well.

Edit: Just got booted from the race due to "Reckless driving". Spun out and couldn't find my way back to the track.
