For some reason, that sounds like awfully boring racing with a flat power curve. Besides, energy efficiency is horrible compared to combustion engine and hydrogen is energy storage medium unlike petrol, which basically makes it just as economical as the powerplant it was produced in.
Skippy is not really that crucial on setup, just get the car feeling the way you want it and keep that setup for all tracks. Only minor adjustments maybe needed to brake balance on different tracks.
Models are fine and actually look quite high polycount compared to current wheel selection. They just look rather dull because there's no texture or shadows, only little bit of shading.
Here we go, Skip Barber at Summit Point Raceway (1:21.9xx)
Because it's sort of "example lap", I kept it tidy and didn't push to the limit, being ~0,3 sec slower than my PB. Steering, throttle, brake and gear indicators are included. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkkaSBZc0n0
Edit: Usually takes a while before HQ version comes up.

Been bit lazy but I'll upload one tonight. I was struggling a little with this track and most people are in 1:22-23 range anyways.
It's also bit tricky to record a fast & clean lap since you really have to throw it around in few corners, hard to get "perfect lap".
Edit: Rendering video at the moment.
Edit: Done, look couple messages ahead.
Having ~2400 rating myself, I usually end up in same races with +3k aliens like McLean and then half of the field is much weaker which evens out average rating of the field. That's just because there is not that many high rated drivers yet so system fills up rest of the field using whatever drivers available.
Solstice pushes around like RB4 and I think FOX can be quite alot like Skippy if set downforce and rear rebound to minimum plus increase tire pressures to remove some of that "excessive" grip. Oh, and set diff to "open" if it's possible.
Matchmaking is based on your iRating (cannot see as rookie but it's calculated)
As for risky moves, it's just a matter of having confidence that you can pull some moves which might look risky/aggressive but do their job without being actually dangerous. It comes with experience and skill, unlike dive-bombing which reflects lack of both.
Just to remind you, Legends Weekly Road Racing Cup is back in town, just 2h 15min to go for first race. I won't join the first race as it's going to be 3:15am but hope to see some of you on the track later. It's going to be on VIR Full which happens to be same track as Skip Barber serie is running this week, so it should be very familiar for some of you.
Just a quick question, which one of you is Daniel B.?
It was kinda confusing because you kept referring to me by LFS forum alias and didn't realise you were talking to me until after the race
That really depends on your refresh rate, even without v-sync it should be a good idea to set it either equal or half of your refresh rate. I personally can't stand anything anything below 85Hz and even that feels little too flickery sometimes. So, for me 51FPS limit works well with 100Hz and there's no tearing at all, with 85Hz I'd try 42-43FPS limit.
Basically you can set FPS limit to emulate v-sync (with no triple-buffering), but with static limit instead of FPS cap changing dynamically between 0,25x - 0,5x - 1x depending on load.
It was undrivable for me aswell until I set frame limiter on (at 51 by default). All stuttering gone with rest of the settings are pretty high, except shadows.
There's no need for sliding and just to prove my point, here's a 2:12.5 lap and you can see I'm not really pushing that hard, leaving some safety margin in each corner. For 2:10-11 range you might need to throw it around alot more, but first I'd work on going fast and smooth, instead of slow and sideways.
I don't think that's going to change, it's how it was designed to work. Rookie races are rather short so that "20min wait" happens but at longer races you can basically race non-stop with couple minute intervals for quick bathroom run.
Just be aware of that most of the guys in Skippy series have atleast a month of iRacing experience advantage over you. No one is giving away positions or holding back and you should be well prepared by doing solo practise before joining a race.
