Quote from anttt69 :Does the Radical still handle like a turd in iRacing?

+1 for a skippy league .

Yes, but Skippy is all the car you need for happy life.

With lowest settings iRacing is not all that demanding on system, but it's also fairly ugly to look at and that can be real immersion breaker. While graphics are generally not all that important in racing sims, I absolutely love real time cockpit shadows in iRacing.

Top250 is suprisingly easy, you don't need to be alien to get there. For an example I used to be a typical midpack runner on CTRA and on iRacing road side I'm currently ranked 132th and slowly climbing up.

I wonder if Corvette and Ford GT will feature multi-class racing with weight ballast on faster car. But anyways, I'm not really a Ford fan but can't wait for those two!

Quote from The Moose :Well, obviously people who criticize things without even trying them are idiots.

Those kind of people are easily ignored.

On the opposite side are over-zealous fanboys who jump on anyone who crticizes their favorite product. Both groups are equally annoying.

Price is a valid concern, monthly fee itself isn't really an issue but the cost of additional content. This is true especially if you're planning to go forward in licence ladder after each season and do it on both Oval and Road series. But there's no need to hurry and one should race what they enjoy the most, hence I've gone back to Skippy and will probably run even next season with it which also happens to be very cheap since I don't need to buy new tracks over and over again.

It's very profitable business, making money on stuff that other people create. Copyright laws are big joke right now, whole pre-emptive taxing is little silly considering downloads do not represent losses in sales at 1:1 ratio. Still I pay copyright "tax" on each single empty cassette or cd I buy because I may or may not record something on it that falls under copyright laws.

For a long time now, copyright system hasn't been there to protect artists. It's really good way to make money with no risk at all when you have lobbied in laws to benefit you. At the same time these big "pro-copyright" record companies having no issue ripping off other songs without original author's permission on their own labels.

Operating System
Vista x64 - Well, it works fine for me and 32bit system is not really an option due to memory limitations.

Internet and Security
Opera - Daily browser for me
Chrome - Browser for iRacing, works faster than FF. (security settings in Opera do not allow browser to access system services)
Avast! Antivirus - Because it's free and has autoupdates that do not require your attention.
Comodo Firewall - Basic version is free and it's much more configurable than other alternatives like ZA.
Spybot S&D - Removes adware, although I haven't yet seen it find anything else than tracking cookies.

Multimedia
Media Player Classic - Very lightweight player and works well with FFDShow
VLC Media Player - Just as a backup, used for flash video but those seem to work fine now on MPC too.
FFDShow - Codecs and filters you need for high quality playback and encoding. No ads or any unnecessary included like in some codecpacks.
VirtualDub - Very powerful lightweight video editing software, I use it mainly for cropping, resizing and encoding raw footage into smaller formats.
Winamp - Been using it for years now, I don't really care for some of the latest features so I leave them off.
Exact Audio Copy - Best sofware in my opinion for encoding your audio CD's to MP3 format.

Other
Open Office - I don't use office tools that much to make Microsoft package worth purchase, but this one is good alternative because it's free.
Fraps - For recording ingame video.

Something funky going on with your camera view, big fisheye.
What I ment is that it's so much easier to setup lighting properly if you just slap same blinn material on all objects. That way you can easily see if car is too bright or too dark on some areas and how highlights are working out. After you've done necessary adjustments, just slap any metallic paint material on it and it should look good.

Also keep in mind that most cars also have some caster and how it affects wheels.

To get a good results with chrome, you really need to pay extra attention to your scene and environment. Your wheels appear bit dark, probably due to black sky.

It's decent looking scene, only thing that kinda ruins it is that fake fuel filler cap

To me it looks like there are decent amount of servers, but what CTRA made differently was that it gave you a goal in form of licence levels. This made pickup racing meaningful and kept people motivated.

Quote from Timdpr :They were having problems with the finishing positions - where to count the laps back to and actually finding where the drivers finished. It was complicated, and probably the reason for the big delay. I think they were hoping for a restart - just one lap under the SC would have simplified matters a great deal - but I'm not sure it was ever possible.

Another possibility is that Bernie wanted to reach 2h mark so TV companies and sponsors wouldn't come back to ask for some of their money back.

It just an analogy

What I ment about Mazda, it's fast openwheeler with some downforce, basically my favorite kind of car and I've tried hard to enjoy it... but just can't.

Quote from Slartibartfast :After reading much and watching some very impressive reviews on Youtube, I have gone ahead and ordered the Fanatec GT3 clubsport. I hope that is not a mistake as, as far as I know, no one has one in their grubby little mits yet. The G25 however is widely used.

Problem with G25 is gear delivered FFB which is great for first few months but then it starts to wear out a little and wheel becomes quite loud especially over curbs when gears rattle against eachother.

Driving Mazda is like jerking off to a picture of this really hot supermodel, which in theory should be all good and fun but you also happen to know that she used to be a dude...

Skippy while perhaps not being as sophisticated or have the perfect "aerodynamics", she is still plenty of fun to go around the "curves".

http://www.mtv3.fi/urheilu/f1/ ... rkistot/f1/2009/04/852951

Those barely work anyways, image freezes randomly while sounds keep playing. Occasionally starts to buffer for no apparent reason when bandwidth usage is nowhere near limits. Then it's those annoying ads....

Is this basically free preview of what they offer for 49€ to watch full season online?

Quote from tikshow :yes but you can found physical lights and cameras in max, what can repruduce the same thing, the only thing is what you need then is turning on the Global Illumination or the Final Gather

Global Illumination

Physical lights in Max are ment for Mental-ray with proper scene size (car that is 4m long should be scaled to that size for better results). I'm not too sure how well they work with 3rd party renderers.

Having to recalibrate brakes is probably due to some driver conflict. I haven't experienced this issue in any sim since I bought my first wheel+pedals set 8 years ago.

Quote from DaveWS :Edit: I'm getting some stuttering with iRacing during the races, partically at the corkscrew, which makes things interesting. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm getting framerates around 70 + normally, so it's not like my PC is struggling to run it. I'm gessing it's lack of memory, and the HDD is having to muck about with the pagefile or something.

For stuttering, try enabling FPS limiter without V-sync. First try setting it equal to your screen refreshrate, then drop down from there until you find sweetspot where it's still smooth gameplay but no stuttering even on Silverstone.

I've set mine to 50fps because I'm using 100Hz and that seems to get rid off tearing as well.

Quote from Töki (HUN) :Didn't know there's a "job" like that.

BBC commentator's referred to him as a senior member of Grand Prix Drivers' Association (GPDA).

Quote from Wikipedia:
Currently there are three directors of GPDA, one of whom is the chairman. Since 2008, Pedro de la Rosa has been the chairman,[5] with Mark Webber and Fernando Alonso as the other directors.[6]
