Doing pretty much the same stuff as Scatter, trying to visualise the possible overtaking scenario and observe my competitor's driving lines. If I'm in good lead or dead last, I just usually zone out.

Quote from Jakg :22" Widescreen - 1680*1050.

19" 4:3 - 1280*1024.

You gain 26 pixels in height...

I ment physical display area and 1280:1024 ain't 4:3
You can put 22" wide and 19" 4:3 next to each other for comparison and see for yourself.

Something to be expected, she can drive but more importantly it would be a huge PR move.

Quote from NikLaw :Nice. But I should rather get a 22 " TFT and a decent graphics card, 8800 GT, than getting a 24 " 1920x1200 display which resolution I cannot use fully.

Problem going from 19" 4:3 screen to 22" 16:9 is that what you gain in width, you lose in height. Keeping in mind that all documents and webpages are browsed in horizontal fashion, it makes very little sense to pay for that extra width that is mostly wanted for displaying movies.

Quote from turbo4door :I have a spare ASUS motherboard (A8N-SLI, socket 939) and was wondering if thats even worth keeping. I didn't pay anything for it and its just sitting around. Should I start there or go intel instead? Is the cost worth it to buy another board for intel vs having a free AMD board already?

The thing is, money you can potentially save by using that old motherboard will be wasted on buying outdated processor and RAM. Standard motherboards are pretty cheap anyways so it's not really a big loss. I'd just say go for for new platform, atleast you won't be stuck with old hardware that needs an upgrade soon again.

No, Gran Turismo serie is not ment to compete with hardcore sims. They're not aiming for ultra realism but for middle ground between arcade and simulators, altough it's definately most realistic racing game on Playstation. You can't really make games like LFS or GTR work on consoles due to heavy amount of micro management that comes with getting the setups right, console interface and gamepad are not suited for that.

For me, Gran Turismo games have always been one of my favorite racing games. Can't really rate it against LFS because I play sims for challenge and arcade racing games to relax.

Regards to 3D modeling, it really takes some time to learn even basics of it and you need to have some artistic talents to come up with original designs. Most of the time you're facing problems that come up with trying to create certain shape and do it by the rules so there wont be any graphical bugs in the product. It takes a lot of patience and you can find yourself laying in a bed middle of night with your head going on overdrive trying to solve some problems.

Can't say much about coding, I've never enjoyed it because it lacks the interaction you get when shaping up things in modeling program. All coder gets is a lines of error messages and bloodshot eyes.

Well, I don't like it too much because you can't see attachment until it's fully loaded and there's no progress indicator so you won't know if it's loading at all. Also, it prevents me from opening the attachments into new tabs so they can be loaded on backround (big skins take a while to load).

By the way, for me that program counts ~4cm mouse movement as one full meter. Not too accurate one would say...

Would look so much better in metallic silver.

I don't think my average mouse travel distance is too high due to the fact that the spot where my mouse is at is rougly about the size of a dvd case in width and length, only 2x wider and 1,5x longer than mouse itself.

Yeah, those damn beans are delicious. Coffee and chocolate are both great individually, but with them combined it's like ultimate combination of awesome.

Quote from scoobyrbac :So what happens when rocks hit it or someone try's to "key" it? You'd end up having to pay a crap load to buy a new skin.

You could take it to nearest sweatshop and have those nice little kids sew it for you.

Yes, usually it's a good idea to get better powersupply than is actually needed, but in that case you really need to do some backround research and make sure it's a reliable one that won't break down after two years. There's plenty of reviews around the web so it shouldn't be a problem to find some info.

Been using same 430W powersupply since '03 when I went from 900Mhz Duron to AXP 1800+.
Doesn't seem to be heating up or droppng voltages even on current system with C2D E6750@3,2Ghz and x1950Pro@XT

It better be durable, at highway speeds those small stones do cause quite heavy impacts on small areas and I imagine it could break the surface causing the whole skin to tear apart. Another concern is reaction to different chemicals.

I know it's just a concept based around the idea of flexible design, but I don't think current technology has suitable materials for making it possible in a way that would actually work in mass production.

Quote from travbrad :The graphics weren't that great either, the HDR is way overdone so all the cars glow (maybe this glow gives them their magical grip)

Yeah, it kinda feels like driving in some magic dust especially on that US street circuit (Seattle?).
I think it's not actually HDR effect, just bloom.

Edit: One week to notice a typo, I'm getting even worse.

Quote from Hyperactive :So a dual-core processor is required?

It's not very clearly written but the idea is that you should be fine with any dual core and for single core systems you need atleast Athlon 64 package.

Kinda funny how Heidfield looked so disappointed on podium where as DC was so full of joy that you could have thought he was the actually winner there.

By the way, Kimi should teach Kubica on what to do with that champagne bottle, he didn't even take a sip.

Quote from duke_toaster :Why couldn't they just use a simple question like "Where is Paris?" or "Are you a human" or something? Or just provide a sentence with some typos in it and ask people to write it in properly.

Requirements of common sense and proper spelling would cause even more trouble for your average internet user.

I just bought Mass Effect for PC which is an action-rpg and realised that game has better driving physics even though you only need to occasionally drive one car around planet surfaces.

He's not the kind of guy who would stick to F1 and hang around forever like Coulthard or Barrichello. To me it seems like he has now achieved his goal and wants to try something else. Definately he'll keep driving for a season or two and then go somewhere else.

Damn, those tracks and driving physics seem really interesting. Too bad you can't have 10min test drive before buying because I'd like to know how the driving feels. For me LFS feels very natural but too "perfect and sterile" at the same time, making driving little too predictable. On the otherhand GTR and rFactor don't feel natural and it's like having a big flashing sign saying "IT IS A COMPUTER GAME" on top of your monitor. However, tires feel better than in LFS, especially lateral grip.

...Oh well, I guess I either have to lock my creditcard in a box and trow away the key or get a job.
