^^ I know it was awfully ****ing dumb to badmouth cruisers, sorry.
Fact of the matter is that these servers (for me) take away from LFS...pure racing that is. Don't be so silly as to say "just turn on your filter and you'll be fine as you won't see a thing", it's hard not to notice the huge numbers of players on the servers posting vid's of suped up VOB's and generally making the sim look like NFS or similar.
It simply attracts the wrong attention and the numbers grow and grow, I imagine sales are fine in this regard but if thats the road they're going down whats the point of all the hard work if the sim's to be used to drive imaginary deliveries around the track???
I've lost count of how many times I have been wrecked (*throws his bottle from the pram*) the past few months from the 'spill over' of the cruise servers - I had enough and cracked
Why cant Airio or similar be mandatory for all servers included in the server code? and have a zero tolerance policy to address cheating of any kind - I'd bet that would give the correct impression and image that, in LFS, cheating or modding of any kind is not allowed on public servers.
The negligence of the dev's in regards to cheats is my only worry.
Becky - yes, yes - jump on the slagging n00b wagon, well done!
Ignorance is bliss as they say!... ignorance is nirvana compared paid work too
I understand you all fail so much you want us to fail too, but why not give us the option to help?...get onto that narcissistic knob-jockey and sell something before the wheels come off imo.

ALL I WANT IS I A CLEAN RACE
----------------------------------
I've made 'how to spot hackers' threads, asked, questioned...but the general consensus seems to be round here 'see no evil, speak no evil, I've heard no evil... and, if I trust the racer aside me I'm ok cause the negligent vvankers of devs say it ok because we all fail together.
We need SOME sort of anti-cheat in place (or at very least an update to show anti-cheat progress).
TBveryH, and quite frankly I took it upon my (neanderthal) self to go all out WAR >8-) AGAINST CRUISERS:
$cruisers = 'die';
...I've been round quite a while and as above ^^ I simply feel it's all going pear shaped and I'm concerned, that's all, sorry for my concern.
I have been told that thermoplastic is the new standard and eventually be phasing out the old rubber ones - I guess they'll come to some sort of compromise and make the top bit lighter or more flexable - as it is now they're just a nightmare to work with
What is PHPinsim mod, in that other thread Vic and others seem to be working on it and all I've seen is it placing text "you are on the track"...what on earth is phpinsim mod? and is this what I'll be using if I want to code my own server?
I run a small business here in Dublin, Ireland and my accompanying website is up this past year - my site has very little outbound links and I would like to link to anyone here in my niche.
If anyone here in the automotive niche is interested in linking to my site and vice-versa please drop me a pm or reply here thank you.
nice find! thanks for that - don't think I'll adopt the method of having a good ol' smell of those dirty old boots though :/
Problem is, if I tighten the clips too much they'll eat into the rubber just around the lip on the CV and eventually fail over a very short period of time.
A perfect solution would be to treat the termoplastic chemically or such that the area around the outer lip of the CV is softer - I've never seen a boot fail where it is attached to the CV, any I've seen always fail where there is most movement in the boot ie. center of the boot.
...I'll pick up the cheapest set of these thermoplastic boots Monday and start looking into ways to soften the rubber
They're supposed to work in the exact same way but the plastic just is not malleable enough to catch the lip on the CV and pops off as soon as the guy's in the test center's yank at them...awful ruddy yokes they are
we've started getting this horrible hard plastic thing in the box where the rubber CV boot should be, motor-factors say it's all the rage and used a word like thermo-plastic or something...
...anyone here dealth with this new thermo-plastic crap, and is there some kind of secret to stopping them popping off the joint all the time?
...customers are like "wtf - test center failed me again wtf you doing..."
I mean in a proactive way, what is being done to stop cheating.
From the small numbers that are hanging around the servers these day's I'd take a guess that at least 10-15% of those are cheating - It's simply not good enough, the whole situation really is attacking the one thing LFS has left, clean, close and honest racing.
...neither is taking the 'word' of your fellow racers good enough.... the people around you....are they honest enough not to cheat? Do you rely on the server admins to deal with cheating?
Surely a simple way would be to kick and ban any driver whom get's from point X to point Z in a physically impossible time for engine setup?
