Hypothetical situation
Dac

say as soon as you spawned at the lights you nailed the throttle and left everybody for dead. but you then have to do a pit lane penalty. do you think the extra time you make up will be more than the time you spend in the pits?

hypothetically though, im NOT suggesting people try this.

Quote from agm_ultimatex :Id rather learn the XRG now, for practice with RWD. I like it better looks wise, and I love challenges. A lot of the time through my turns, I would be braking and healtoe down shifting, not so much engine braking. I found engine braking for the turn did help me slow down quicker, but my times were a little worse cause i wasnt used to it for turn 3 (i think its t3, the one after the long straight). Anyways, heres my replay & setup i use from team inferno.

you need to practice.

Quote from Calvinaquino :Actually i think that THATS why the ring is "different". it has its own feel, and thats why i think soo many people like it., it and the fact that it has more than 20km of track. I see NO reason to NOT make it in LFS at ALL, OTHER than i hardly see it happening thought.

WOW. your capitalizing of words only seems to strengthen your opinion.

Traction Circle

This would help greately with teaching you how to drive 'on the limit'. this is not the same as a G meter although very similar.

basically a traction circle is a G meter however the axis are dynamic and only display the maximum G's that can be attained by the tyres.

for instance, if you were to pull away on the straight with a BF1, to start with the traction circle will be very square, indicating equal available traction for acceleration, deceleration and cornering left + right.

however, once you are hitting some speed down the straight, the wings will generate more possible traction. and so the graph will widen to show this.

this graph would be able to teach people where they can go faster and by how much, to make sure they are using 100% of the traction available for as long as they can without breaking traction.

thanks,

my Yaris has a solid rear axle and id hate to see it modelled in LFS.

having a speaker on each corner of me and being able to hear individual tyres screaching and also a heavy sub making you 'feel' the vibrations in the cockpit are two things id positively love to see in LFS.

+1.

this is another example of what is bad for LFS.

Quote from tonyonparas :Best thread on the forums for a while. I´d also love to get that newsletter. I´ve got my hands full with running an airline soon so I just keep in reading these things, altough I´d love to be part of it.

it is hard atm getting people to help. so far im only in contact with one person who i have discussed what were doing. although there are others i just need to solidify contact details if you get me.

im also pretty busy, i work mon-fri 5:30 till 4 so im absolutly nackered. i also have some reassesment coursework to do before August 14. once i start uni again ill have alot more freetime.

i understand that but im sure people would much prefer to have a decent GTR car instead of just being able to say 'o this is just a modified XR'. really annoying,

you should not be looking at the apex anyway. your supposed to look at the farthest possible point.

Quote from V3N0UM :Hey gill can you please make the skyline r34 sound for the RB4 ?
thanks in advance !

can i ask why all those cars have a flame coming out the back when they are pulling away? surely they arent getting backfire on a start line

tbh i think the XRGTR needs an entirely new engine. its by far my choice of car because of the layout however the engine absolutly sucks. it sounds like a bunch of crap and the amount of times ive been caught out by the boost. getting 490bhp from a 2.0 @ <6krpm is always going to be trouble.

maybe swap it for a 3.0 V6?

Quote from Neilser :Aha. Hadn't realised you weren't totally against it - sorry.
On that point I'd be in agreement - no hotlaps should be uploaded with ghost mod on. Just like the current hotlap mode doesn't allow the racing line to be turned on.

[Edit: reviewed your mention of training - I *had* noticed it, but at the time thought you had literally meant the "training" mode; e.g. acceleration training, slalom, etc, which isn't really useful for a ghost car. If you mean training by racing in single-player, which is actually useful, then we're on the same page :-)]

yup. no hotlaps, no multiplayer option, no problem

Quote from Fat-Alfie :Yeah, that's it - you stamp as much fun out of this game as you can. LFS is full on non-realistic extras which I'm sure you use to improve your lap times - I don't hear you complaining about those.

Jeez, lighten up...

LFS is a simulation last time i looked. also, which non-realistic extras do you mean?

Quote from Neilser :
But now a serious question: if somebody used a ghost car mod, and trained themselves against the WR time (if that's possible with the ghost mod), and then went up against you -- without it -- would you feel the race was unfair? And if so, how does that differ from them driving as close as poss behind a really good driver in an online session, and picking up a better line that way?

if its used for training purposes i have no problems with that as ive mentioned multiple times in this thread. i think it would be an invaluable training aid and id like to see it in LFS. however if the time generated from following the ghost car could be legitimately uploaded as a hotlap then i would have a problem with that because they are not driving from off their own knowledge and skill but rather copying the input of another driver - almost like using a dance mat. yes they will be a better dancer AFTER they have used the mat, but with it they are not demonstrating as much skill as a dancer with no such mat. therefore it goes against what LFS stands for.

im not comparing the two languages! all i was saying was its far easier to do higher level work in Java (due to its OO nature and libraries) than it is in C++ - which is the only C variant ive used. anybody care to disagree with that?

Quote from Mazz4200 :If it were me i'd include a light hearted section to it. Something like a bit of LFS gossip from the forum. Or maybe a few lines on the current state of play in the V1 championship. A progress report on some of our real world racers i.e Norbi and Tristan etc. Maybe even a regular column from one of the forum wits or perhaps even a "thought for the month" by Lerts

Bets of luck with it anyway

thats definitely an idea. my main goal at least to begin with is to get good coverage of the league races as a starting point. i dont want to use the shotgun approach and start filling it with everything which then puts readers off. the core of this newsletter is the league races so i need to get that 100% if this is going to get anywhere.
