Did someone say... Bassface.

This is what happens when i drink alot and then end up on the dancefloor at a dnb event, altho considering me and penny drank pretty much exactly the same she looks very normal compared to me, she's the one just in front of me with the tattoo on her wrist, proper little diamond she is.

Audi, VW, Skoda, all look pretty samey these days to be honest, but then i guess the same can be said for most newer everyday cars, vehicles in general just dont have the character they used to have, look at anything from the sixties, all about fins, the seventies saw curves and more flared styling, then the eighties and nineties saw squarer looking cars, then becoming more streamlined in shape due to aerodynamics etc, the majority of new cars today just look plain boring, sure, they are more refined and much better cars in general, but boring to look at nevertheless.

I will use ford to illustrate my point...

Quote from Töki (HUN) :You obviously need some glasses then. This is reverse rake, my car is totally in horizontal level.

+1, pretty much all BMWs will have a larger gap between the wheelarch and the tyre on the front eventhough the body of the car is bang on level, as i have discovered when i decided to set the wheel arch gaps all the same on my E46, the sill is at least an inch lower to the ground on the front than it is on the back

The 5 got damp because it was parked up for a long time, i obviously srted that out, the diff was welded for drifting purposes, and it did its job in that respect, and is now awaiting an engine transplant as the new owner is going to use it as a full time track car.

Scraped springs, yes, minor oversight on my part, the base of a coilover (where the adjuster is) is slightly wider than a standard suspension leg so thin spacers are required, again, thats been sorted.

And as for connector/socket issue, the car was already like this before i got it, the connector for the low water level is missing entirely, looks like the car has had some minor front end damage somewhere along the line as the inner wheel arch liner and slam panel have been replaced, and due to the route of the wiring im guessing that this connection has been lost during that, as was one of the fog lights, no wiring present on one side, which i have fixed, although, as im sure you will agree, things that have happened to the vehicle before i got it are completely out of my control.

Im sorry you feel that way shotglass, although the only part of the car that isnt OEM (allbeit off higher specced models) is the suspension, although thats only about 25mm lower than the m sport kit would be anyway, i personally feel its subtly modified, not too OTT, unlike the mx5, which on looking back, wasnt exactly the best.

Well, after a slight incident whereby i forgot i needed the wheel spacers in with the larger rims and did about 2 miles with them touching the coilovers on the front, all is now well, the 17's are on, and all in all im pretty chuffed with it, im fairly sure that thats the exterior finished, its pretty much how i want it

To be honest i think alot of the issues are about the quality of whats available, its all about the purity, relatively pure substance = nice clean high with not too much of the nasty after effects.

i dont do much, never have, although this year i have gone a bit more into it and have done MDMA bombs 4 times, (the only 4 times in my life i have ever done it in fact) nitrous baloons more times than i care to remember and have had quite a few spliffs too, and guess what, im still here and absolutely fine in myself just like usual, in fact, due to my job taking a bit of a change in direction recently i was actually praised for hard work dedication and productivity only today, when 24 little hours before i was so unvelievebly off my face it was unreal, yesterday daytime was pretty much a write off due to the comedown, head fuzzy and feeling like your in some kind of trance, but woke up this morning bang on and ready to get to work, but by common stereotypes i should be falling apart, when in fact im better than ever!

Quote from Yuri Laszlo :Meh, it's not like it was the most important event in the past 100 years. I can forgive those people for not knowing it was real.

Id say that the first and second world wars were slightly more important and historic events to be honest.

Refurbed wheel, sprayed but unlacquered...

After 3 good coats of clear gloss lacquer, shiney shiney...

All 4 lacquered...

Then i went for a bit of contrast and did the inside of the rims black, i like...

All i need to do is remove the 3 or 4 lacquer runs i have on 2 of the wheels, and the inevitable black runs that qould have made their way onto parts of the wheel that should be silver and ill be all ready for the new rubber, which should arrive this week...

Lovely stuff

Quote from morpha :It's a bit difficult to tell from the low res shaky video, but isn't that yellow light in the bottom left the MIL? If so, it has to have fault codes stored, it wouldn't light up otherwise.

That light is to tell me that the coolant level is low, it isnt actually low, its just that the sensor isnt connected to anything, theres a socket on the end of the sensor, but no plug or wire anywhere on the car to connect onto it, which there obviously should be, and i cant re route a new cable to the sensor as i dont know where the wiring for that sensor is meant to run from, although i am assured that the sensor failing for the coolant level is a common thing in any case and doesnt cause any performance issues, just the annoying light, the airbag light and right hand front bulb error lights are now out too, fitted an occupancy sensor bypass unit to turn the airbag light off, and the bulb out warning, blown sidelight bulb

Quote from BastianB :How much PITA was it to install that thing? Im thinking about getting one for myself, too.

Very basic to fit, comes with adhesive tape already on the underneath of it, all you have to do is line it up before pressing it down, pull the backing tape off, start from one end and stick it down whilst curving it to match the line of the boot (they are dead straight when they arrive) and thats literally it, just take your time when fitting it and be sure that its all lined up and central before you start because once its stuck it aint coming off again, very good adhesive strips.

And as for the performance thing, god only knows, theres no fault codes stored anymore so its nothing MAF or EGR related as it would surely throw a code if it was?

Its had an oil change and a dose of injector cleaner since i bought it and it does seem a little better, especially when warm, itd dead on its arse when its cold still though..

Granted, its not quite as bad as this now, but still pretty poor, my first job will be to get the cat off and replace with a decat pipe, if it goes like a rocket then i know that it was the cause.

Sorry for the bluntness that follows but, as i have seen time and again, it always seems that the driver who was, now lets be honest, the sole cause for any giving it large in a car and then it goes wrong kind of accident.

They seem to be the ones out of any given car wreck that get out of a wreck with little or no injury, despite them being the person behind that steering wheel acting the billy big bollocks, they never seem to come off worst do they, no, coz they kill and injure their oh so precious cargo of other human beings by acting like a twat on the road!

Sorry about the bluntness in this post, but its how i feel, stems from back in 2001, long story short, one 16 year old girl dead at the scene, a 19 year old girl passed 3 days later due to massive head injuries, and one 18 year old girl who was put in a wheelchair and was told she would never walk again due to spinal injuries, she has defied the odds somewhat and can now get around on crutches but her life will never be the same again.

And what did the driver come off with? fractured jaw and a broken elbow, he got 3 years inside for it, but it doesnt bring sara or lisa back does it, or jess having been through no less than 8 operations in order to be able to even leave her house, her quality life has been forever diminished by some dick head thinking he was a race driver, she'll never be right again.

Needless to say all these people were quite good friends of mine.

Boot lip spoiler on, a small subtle mod that brightens the rear end up a bit, ordered off ebay, comes pre painted in the colour of your choice, colour match is bang on, took only 4 days to arrive from taiwan and cost just 21 quid, that'll do me!

Style 44 17" rims (cost me £50 from a mate) are now looking less like they were owned by a professional kerber and are filled prepped and ready for paint, im bored of silly coloured rims now so it'll either be oem wheel silver, or titan silver metallic to match the car, or possibly white, not sure which to go for yet, either way tomorrow is spray day.

Then a few days wait for the tyres to arrive, again, arranged through a mate, full set of 4x 205/50/17 continental sport contact 2 all with between 4mm and 5mm tread left, for £100 delivered, they say that part worns arent the ideal option, and i somewhat agree, but when decent rubber would cost near on that amount per tyre it really has to be done.

Ze beemer is coming along nicely, visually anyway, although performance wise, yeah, not so much...

It is still much slower than i think it should be, and those who have also driven it agree that something must be up, its been on a machine and there was a code for faulty MAF and also an EGR valve fault code logged too, so i fitted a brand new MAF, and removed the EGR and cleaned it as per the DIY guide on one of the BMW forums, so i then went and had the codes reset again (driving home from the original diagnosis obviously caused those codes to re appear and be logged again after he cleared them the first time), then re checked 2 days later and they hadnt re appeared, so according to the car there is no fault anywhere, yet its still gutless, i just cant work it out, i might be wrong, maybe the 136bhp ones are just this slow, but having had 2 mechanic mates take it for a run, and there reactions both being along the lines of ffs dan, whatevers the matter with that, wheres the torque gone!?!?!? makes me think its not just me.

Too low? Nah, pretty much just right, slammed nicely but without the crashy ride, plus i still have the ability to travel over speed bumps, allbeit slowly.

I have actually been informed by my mate (who has a crazy low E36 torung that is literally ON the floor) thats its too high, i believe 'go low or go home' were his words haha.

Im happy with it anyway, although if it drops any more once it starts to settle then i will have to raise it accordingly as its quite literally on the limit of whats practical, it clears the slope in my drive by literally 2mm, i can just about do speed bumps as already mentioned. and as for parking at work, well you could barely get a cigarette paper between the front bumper and that kerb stone.
