Also when it has been told that updates are coming, kinda means we are to expect some kind of update and when you announce a time of release and then miss it by 5 years, kind of leaves people to expect that announced content at some point, eventually.
A good step in saving LFS would be release some content. I.E the finished but otherwise abandoned Rockingham. Seeing as how most every other simulator available has Rockingham in it's lineup, how about releasing just this one piece of content as a thank you for everyone's continued support of LFS and it's community. A LOT of people besides the devs have made LFS what it is today. The members of this forum, the demo users that tell other people about LFS, the league organizers, the league participants, the forum moderators, VW for the Scirocco (even if it is sitting and waiting also) and I am sure many many more.
Instead of sitting around and saying how license purchases have dropped or complaining about how much the community gets under your skin because of the continued nagging for new content, the Devs need to realize they made a mistake 5 years ago and in some form of apology or sign of gratitude for it supporters, release a piece of content that is NO WAY dependent on the tyre physics being completed or released.
It's a very simple PR move that could atleast restore some faith that all is not lost for LFS. Otherwise, Scawen can keep reading thread after thread and post after post about how they are doing nothing to keep LFS alive and all these disappointed fans who continue to give hope in a team that obviously cares nothing about what the community has to say.
If you look at the forums you will see that over recent time, the number of other people speaking out regarding the poor development methods has been so much more than in previous time.
To me, this looks like the end of the line for the community and if Scawen and crew doesn't change their stance/pace on new content, LFS will be a ghost time before any new content comes.
By the time the physics get released, that will be the tip of the iceberg for bringing LFS up to date. Graphics, weather, tracks, cars, sounds, textures of old contents, etc all needs updated still.
I was an offline demo player for several years. I took a about a year break then started playing online demo. finally decided to purchase S2 and have spent most of my time on cruise servers since I do not own a decent wheel yet. Plan on getting either a G25 or G27 in the next month or two.
"Although most software publishers use the term “OEM” to identify their software as OEM, some use other terms, such as “system builder.” These terms all mean the same thing – the software is OEM software and cannot be re-distributed without the authorized hardware."
Why would I want to go play a sim with crappy physics in comparison to LFS? Is it too much to ask for a 1-2 paragraph update that gives some hint at whether or not progress is actually being made or we are just funding the lives of the 3 people responsible for this community because they have found other things to do than actually work and have something to show for the money that has been given to them?
At this point, LFS is just some unfinished project that is doing nothing but provide a living for the devs and being a laughing stalk among the other sim communities.
Maybe it's time to try a new tactic. Instead of making the same threads over and over and over again, we all need to move the fight directly to the Devs Inbox: REMOVED

Reason : Really bad idea to post our tech email on the web. As you may imagine, Geraldine already has enough spam to deal with.
The only agreement that says no mods is the Forum Agreement. The End User Agreement that pertains to the actual Program of LFS does not mention "No Mods" so unless the devs change the agreement, it is perfectly legal, just don't talk about mods here as you agreed to that when you joined these forums.
*BEWARE RANT*
Obviously the devs do not give a shit about the people who have made their dreams even possible. They take for granted all the licenses sold and countless years spent by said license holders to keep this community alive. If you don't agree with me, then answer me where is Rockingham? Rockingham has NOTHING to do with the tyre physics yet the only people who have ever played on it are the "beta" testers and people who have visited the machines that were put in place for the public to use (plenty of pics and videos have documented this) If the devs were honestly trying to make a living from developing this game, why have they not released this track to bring in more revenue and more license sales?
Let's also not forget about the Scirocco. We get it, they did not simulate the Scirocco to 100% realism. Every single car in LFS does not perform to 100% realistic simulation. The only way anyone will ever simulate something to 100% realism will be with loads and loads of cash to fund machines and engineers researching said simulations with more than what they can find in their garage. *END RANT*
*Props to Scavier*
I will give Scawen and Crew the credit they deserve. They made a successful racing simulator with only a 3 man crew. Their simulation is better than ANY other racing sim I have ever spent time on.
*Suggestion to Scavier*
HOWEVER, there comes a point in time where you need to give up on your stubborn "this needs done first" tactics and release something to refresh the community and let them know you still care about the 10+ years that has been dedicated by a lot of the members here.
*Conclusion*
I know my time as a licensed S2 member is not anywhere near others, but I can assure you before I was S2 I was a frequent demo driver on countless demo servers. I wish the devs would show some life in this great sim and give us some sort of update/hello/whatever.
To continue from my previous post. Yes you will have some people that won't leave town for various reasons and you will get some visitors that pass through still, stop and maybe stay a little while but it just won't be the same as before.
One day you will find the road is nothing but potholes and have no choice but to go through some of them and face the inevitable. Sometimes taking some time to fix the potholes is worth it in the long run because if you let the road turn into nothing but potholes, nobody will want to drive down that road ever again. Sure you can make a brand new road, but it won't be the same after everyone has left town because they were tired of waiting on the repairman to replace the road or apply some temporary but necessary fixes.
you are missing the f'ing point. *point* they made an announcement with a release date. then gave another ballpark date in the postponed announcement. */point*
When you plan to do something, do you plan it with the intentions of not doing it? Kind of like saying, I have a 5 year plan, but I do not intend to stick with it.
When you make plans, you usually have every intention of keeping those plans until something makes you change them.
So yes they WERE GOING TO RELEASE IT but they were not satisfied with the finished product and CHANGED their mind about releasing it.
They did announce a date on December 11th with a time frame of about a week then 4 days later on December 15th, they postponed it. They also mentioned in the same postponed thread a date of Early 2009.
August 21, 2009
So it takes 5 years to test and refine? Maybe they should do an open beta to get more testing and feedback from others instead of being stubborn and wanting to do everything without external help.
