well, my fav mods are VLN2005 and Historic GTs. Also i like to race on the Bockbierbude-Servers which support lot's of mods and are very crowded in the evening.
i never race the megane mod, because i don't like it and have no problem finding a decent race.
i agree, that it is a lot easier to find a server in lfs. for someone who likes short pickup races i suggest trying the bockbier servers. they have an automatic-download application that updates your rfactor automatically to their servers (cars and tracks). the races are about 10-15 Minutes with a short qualification and mixed class racing.
i can understand that many lfs users have problems catching a slide even in decent rfactor mods. i think it is too easy to do that in a slick tyred car in lfs. if it is that easy in reallife, then there are a lot of terrible drivers out there on the tracks.
looks to me that the reviewer hasn't raced the right mods and tracks. i mostly race the historic gt and the bmw e21-mod and i have none of the physics issues. most of the hall of fame tracks have beautiful pavement textures and lots of tarmac types.
the megane mod being the only not crappy mod raced online sounds a little biased/ignorant.
i will never understand why the main problem for many racers with rfactor is the majority of "terrible mods" while they admin, that there are some good ones.
why not stick to the good mods and enjoy them instead of getting frustrated with the bad ones? i don't get it.
many mods also have a good readme to configure the ffb correctly (realfeel). i never had a problem with that. there is also a realfeel database at rfcentral.
e.g. the historix mod instruction are really easy to follow.
the configuration of rfactor really isn't that difficult, it's just different to lfs.
although it's a good idea, to have more than one rfactor-install on your HD. I have one only for historix, one with some mods i play often and one to test new mods. i don't think that's a big problem when each of these installation exceeds the content of....e.g. lfs. the tracks can be placed in a folder each of the installation uses.
Impressive psychoanalysis. Something like "Tell me your stats, i tell you who you are." .
I am bored by LFS for a long time now, but i am still checking the forum, hoping that something new is coming up. i am not sure, but i hope my lfs stats can verify that. otherwise i am in a lot of trouble :/.
i am happy that other games keep getting better, maybe that puts a bit of pressure on the lfs development. iracing, rfactor historix mod and gtr evo are pretty good competitors, imho. the biggest advantage lfs has, is it's network code. i think, it's still the best.
i guess you would like to change the "then" in your signature to "than".
i think hamilton is a great driver and maybe he will become a "f1-legend". tbh, i haven't heard of him since some months before he entered f1. i don't watch formula-motorsport very much, but i heard he had great talent. i was thrilled and hoped that the "underdog" does a great job in his first year. he did and i was delighted, maybe a little bit because i am not a big alonso fan, although i am really impressed by what he is doing the last races and because it seems to me, that he stopped talking so much arrogant nonsense. if he keeps this up, maybe i will get a alonso fan .
well, hamilton now does the arrogant-nonsense-talk, which makes it difficult for me sheering for him, but i don't hate him. he is just not my favourite anymore.
i only have the problem that while e.g. michael schumacher is the antichrist for every bad sentence he said or a bad move he has done in his entire career, in this forum hamilton is treated very differently, mostly by britsh users.
although i would like to add, that the most annoying thing are the the extreme positions some ppl in this forum have to take. no matter if they are a fan or a hater. i just can't understand how someone can get that biased. i would never ever hope that someone crashes in a race. i think, that is a sick thing to do in a motorsport where you still can get badly injured are even get killed.
i can't understand the heidfeld bashing. he is not at the pace he used to be and had some bad luck, but he still got more points than heikki and was only 0.15 seconds slower in Q3 than kubica. ohhhh such a drama......
last year heidfeld had 61 and kubica 39 points. this year heidfeld can still break this record as he already has 56 points. kubica is racing an awesome season and i hope, that he will get the title.....,but calling a heidfeld a mediocre driver is in my opinion wrong. he is a great overtaker and definately got a great pace. i am sure he will get better results soon.
and i think it's a good decision by bmw to keep both drivers.
btw. i don't care about the team, i think it's not important in which car a driver races. it's definately affect his speed, but not if i want him to win or not.
wow thats great! THIS is a reason to reinstall LFS. When I find the time, i ll be joining too.
Don't forget me when the next season starts. DIV 1a is not my thing, but i would love to join a DIV 1-league. would be interested in some rx-cup (future div 2)-cars.
why is tweak-Z illegal?
p.s.:
too, bad about your dad at the estering, he was quiet unlucky there, busta ..... and the weather was AWEFUL! i am surprised i didn't catch a cold.
congrats darin, i really enjoy watching the show. i hope i find the time to take a look at the new episode this weekend . it's getting better and better from episode to episode. keep em coming.
you are OVER the limit if you lose the tail. it's way easier to control a oversteering situation (yes even while turning in to a corner) than actually push the car to it's limit and keep it there without overdriving it.
walther röhrl explains it in his book "Sportlich Auto fahren mit Walter Röhrl" roughly this way: Take a long stick and try balance it in you open hand. it's way easier to make big movements to counteract the falling over of the stick than to make minimal corrections (which barely can't be seen).
racing on the limit is like balancing such a stick without having to make big corrections.
he also said, that in the past days racing the rwds also had some extreme drift angles in even the fast corners, mostly because the speed was roughly the same in these cars when drifting with the rear far out(at least on gravel) as it where in a 4-wheel drifting, but also because it was more safer and easier to lose the griplevel and control the car in such a drift than having the danger, that the car regains grip on the rear axle in mid-corner.
that all changed with the quattro, obviously.
imho, every one should do what he/she wants. have fun with it, there are enough servers for racing, drag racing, cruising and drifiting out there.
the best way to get a better racer is to race. you can learn some car control in drifiting too, but it's very different from the actions you have to take in racing to catch a slide. you never want to have the rear stepping out that far in racing. you do that either just for fun or you are too drunk to catch it in time (mostly my excuse).
i think, one of the main reason, drifters like lfs so much is, that it is so easy to recover from wild slides. it's almost impossible to lose a street car or the GTRs in lfs. in other simulations, it's way more difficult.
eastern creek is a impressive piece of work. i really like to see this track or something similar in lfs.
seems that there are mixed opinions about this topic in this forum, but i am pretty sure, that most of the "ney-sayers" haven't driven a single lap on eastern creek. they don't know what they are missing.
keep up the good work. i am looking forward to your next release. if not for lfs, then for rfactor.
i think laser scanning will be the most effective, fastest way a building a track in the near future. it just costs money, but time is money too......
p.s.:
i am sure, that most of us have done more laps on blackwood than schumacher in monza.......
yes you are right scawen, "promise" may be the wrong word. but by charging on a monthly basis and getting extra money for content, i think they can provide many workers to get things done. they never officially promised what i said, but if racers stop racing, there won't be new cash coming into their pockets and if the servers are getting empty the whole system will collaps.
maybe i should have left that language-thing out. to be honest, i didn't want it to distract from the rest i said. all i wanted to say, is that lfs trys to win with a fair price and a big online user-base for easy to have online fun. there is no game, where it's that easy to get pickup races. i tried to highlight the different concepts.
i have different priorities than you have and i definately don't know what plans you have for the future. i really didn't try to attack the team with this. it's just a view from an outsider thinking about sim-racing. yes, i would like s2 to be finished, but who wouldn't? the biggest flaw of lfs is for me the lack of new content and i mean by that new cars and new tracks. that's very subjective, some posters even call it egoistic expressing this "need", but well that was the only reason i stopped playing lfs some months ago.
i tried to be fair in my posts, maybe i wasn't. difficult to say something the sensitive way, if you are struggling finding the right words. i was surprised you were offended by my post.
