Quote from evilpimp :Thanks for the tips, I have set the FFB to a negative value and gotten a DFP setup for the FFB in the player file in the UserData or watever. I will try to put the FFB effects to LOW I think that is what's doing it. I have it at FULL right now and its probably one of those dodgy effects :S.

Thanks for the help

P.S : I have realfeel

yes putting the effects on LOW is the right choice. unfortunately it isn't possible to turn them off. you wouldn't have any feedback at all then. those are the integrated ISI-Effects, that aren't produced by realfeel.

for those, who have trouble tweaking realfeel: Imho the setup used in the historix mod manual is also really good for other mods. the manual is available in different languages on this page http://www.rfactorcentral.com/ ... GT%20%26%20Touring%20Cars and is quiet easy to understand. you don't need to use the 900° for the g25 to have good effects.

there is also a section with realfeel user recommendations on rf-central. maybe you want to check them out:

ok, samh i understood. but if the communication between the several departments doesn't work, you have either a badly organized structure and/or a bad project management.

yes i agree, that the bigger the staff is, the less efficient work can be done, but it ain't that bad if it's properly managed. the management is the overhead, you wouldn't have had in a small team. iracing as an example can establish workers who spezialize and get better and better in different sectors(e.g. car modelling, track building, UI-Programming, 3d-Programming etc. etc.).

It's not all bad, having a big team working on a project. things can be done good or bad. in a small team or a big company.

uhh, this gone really offtopic, but i think we agree at least at some points. i just wanted to say, that by taking that much money and using that kind of payment structure, iracing has made some kind of "promise" to provide updates and new content. they have to keep the relatively small customer base happy, to keep the cashflow coming. imho sim racing development cannot keep the pace other genres are developed because of the small userbase sim racing has. it doesn't pay of for big companys to do hardcore sims, because there aren't enough customers. by implementing a career mode and lots of helps simbin tried to get also the casual gamers to buy their game. iracing made another clever choice to circumvent this problem.

with it's cheap price and the focus on reaching a big userbase by integrating many languages, lfs gone the other way. i hope this will pay out, too. although imho s2 should have been completed first. many racers speak english anyway.

what does this have to do with oop or bf2?

modelling a porsche doesn't stop some other modeller creating a ferrari in the same time, another ten 3d-artits creating 10 tracks and 1 other guy coding this....one other coding that....etc.etc.

you need someone to coordinate, but that shouldn't be a problem.
i really don't get it. i was talking about work packages in a bigger project.

Quote from Shotglass :reality check
it has been in development since nr2003 so roughly as long as lfs
its damage system produces very similar results to lfs' (no wings falling off, suspension parts can shorten to a ridiculous degree etc) and the collision detection is just as bad at times
that leaves us with better tyres and better tracks which is more a matter of gigo than anything else
all that with more than 10 times as many coders as lfs has

i don't want to argue about iracing, i haven't tested it yet, but many lfs drivers i trust, are really satisfied with the product. i just want to wait a little longer and maybe then join the club.

it's not even public yet. all i want to say: they know that sim development is expensive and because of the small userbase, they take more money for it. they don't have excuses if they don't produce new content on a regular basis and if they can accomplish that, it's probably the only sim i need.

i don't care how many coders they need. it's astonishing what scavier has accomplished a 3-man team, but in the end it's the product that count.

Quote :Simplified rule of software development: Each additional programmer is only worth about 80% as productive as the previous one. You can throw manpower at a project and it will be finished faster, but a lone programmer is still a force to be reckoned with.

you are right about this if you have only one project to work on, becky. but if you can split the project into individual packages that can be developed simultaniously (e.g. many tracks, many cars, coding), that rule doesn't apply. plus, in a bigger team you can afford to have specialists. with proper management deployed in the right way, this can be a great advantage.

i agree with beckys thread-opening. lfs is incredible value for money. there is no product i had so much fun over such a long time for that price. ....but it got boring. i was always hoping for better sounds, rallycross updates etc. etc. as i don't like single-seaters every bonus car was uninteresting for me.

i have found this all in another racesim which gets naturally badmouthed in this forum (well it's the official lfs forum) and i am happy with it. another plus is, that because i am not racing very often anymore, i don't have to see that i cannot reach the laptimes i did in the past in lfs. in this other sim, i switch cars and tracks that often, that i just cannot remember my PBs .

"...do something else and come back to lfs.......if you are bored"

i hope someday there is a reason to return, but on the other hand, i don't really care anymore. either iracing is a complete ripoff and will be dead in some months or it will be way ahead of lfs and probably the next sim i will drive. if you charge that much money, you HAVE to put manpower into holding your customers.

i am still hoping for the big surprise in lfs though.........

p.s.:
one reason is the language barrier, one are the lfs-supporters jumping at anyone who doesn't agree with everything lfs stands for: Sir moi is right, in other forums racers express their concerns about this much more openly and are discussing other sims more often.

yeah i should have paid more attention to my wording. i wanted to say "real" rallycross cars.

1 know the physics aren't perfect.
but...

-most vids from this mod are from early releases, with wrong specs and other errors

-those weren't ordinary group b cars, they where way faster than the original ones. e.g. there was never a twin turbo metro in rally

-as i said, i love it, because i know the cars and the drivers, they where going to 100 km/h in about 2.3 seconds. nostalgic value etc etc.

-rx cars aren't racing tyres used in rally, they had insane grip and don't last very long. a typical finale in rx is over after about 6 kilometres.

why i bought rfactor? because i have the money and i liked to test it.

why i still race rfactor and at this point prefer it over lfs? because i love to drive different cars on different tracks, where other racers have the same problems finding the right lines, just because there are so many great combos and you simply can't practice them like in lfs if you want to try them all. it's a thrill to learn new tracks, cars, and it's interesting to see who can adapt fast and who needs looooots of practice.

but the main reasons are 3 mods i just love to drive:

1. rallycross v2.1: realistic group b cars from the 80s on real rallycross tracks. a blast to drive and even better if you have seen (like me) each car in action those days. unfortunately, bad with real feel.

2. bmw e21 320: great car! made for great online races. with the right real feel config, pure car control. tbh, i would love to have this car in the historic gt mod, the would be perfect.

3. historic gt mod: mentioned in this thread a lot of times and due to the fact that the realfeel-developer helped building this mod definately the best mod ever for rfactor. check the manual. config the real feel and have goosebumps reving the best cars available in every sim. the porsches are so great.....every car is great i loved to drive every single one i tested....and they are so different from each other.

fact is, although rfactors development stopped, the content and the quality of the mods is improving every day. if you haven't tested rfactor for a while now, don't think it is the same sim, you had driven some months ago....and take your time to get the real feel right. that's the most important part of everything.

there are a lot of weaknesses in rfactor (mostly the online thingys) but it's almost impossible to get bored by it, if you are ok with the "feel" of the cars.

it's the best german EM since we have won the title. we know that we have our weaknesses and turkey was a rough opponent, not only for the german team. turkey had a lot of passion i missed in the german team. italy didn't want to win, germany was stunned by the aggressiveness of the turks, they tried, but they couldn't get it right, because of their own nervousness. germany is often weak when they are the favourite in a match. this win wasn't beautiful, but it's almost impossible to play against turkey beautifully, because they do a good job stopping that. who has?

for germany this final is a big success, qualifying for this tournament is a success. the world cup is a joke against this. the world cup is europe against argentinia and brasil. this one is the toughes eurocup ever! every team in it (except greece *cough*) was strong, even austria and switzerland!

i could start about england, i won't.....i don't need to.

i am sure, germany will play a strong final.

p.s.:
the ranting is ok, as a german we are used to be the bad guy.

nice to see you again and again when it's about dissing the germans, moose . unfortunately you seem to miss every game when they are playing well . at least you don't comment on that.

don't be frustrated, that's football. turkey was strong today, germany not, but the offensive was effective.

p.s.:
don't let austria handle the technics.........i have never seen such a failure since the 80s. and that foul against lahm in the box......incredible referee!

best racing car ever....... the last days of group b in rallycross.

tommy kristoffersons 750 HP audi quattro 20v

tommy wasnt the only one who knew that the sport quattro was the wrong move. walter röhrl knew too, that the ur-quattro would have been more successful.

tommy used the audis imsa engine in this monster and did an awesome job against the late mid-engine monsters used in these days (mostly 205 and rs200)

the recent cars in rallycross are faster than this, but no car will be that impressive.

http://img106.imageshack.us/img106/4003/scan0031gz3.png

the only other car i could imagine would be the audi-porsche 917......anyone who doesn't know about it, should google it and slap himself for each hit he gets.

but i haven't seen that one.....but i have seen the BP-Quattro of tommy. THAT'S the fastest quattro ever been build!

gt5 will never be a competitor to lfs. because its not that ambitious to be a real driving simulator (i know the advertising is a paradoxon). but it will be a great game, no doubt. and great value for money. oh, have i said that prologue is a rip off? pay for 1/10 of a game and pay again for the whole months later?
well if you can't wait that's ok, but i will wait. and gt5 will be great. anyway it's nice to see the lfs bandwagon in action. the same phrases all over again, in germany it's called "totschlagargumente". they are getting boring.
yeah....only three developers blah blah blah......physics,......whatever well i don't care but i also i don't want to complain.
lfs is the best value for money i have ever got in a game. if i complained i would be a ungrateful *whatever* because i don't have the right to do so. especially not in these forums. i simply chose to drive other "simulator", unfortunately lfs can't provide new content. New Tracks, new cars...playing around with it, lots of fun. well, for most of you guys, thats pretty pointless and you are proud of it. driving the same combos again and again is great for some guys who expect a big career in lfs-gaming, but for me it got boring. i just want to have fun, i have no goals while driving lfs (anymore ).

And pls don't forget. Most of the oldschool top notch racers are only driving lfs when they have to. to practice the combos for their league races, mostly private. that wasn't the case years ago, there where lots of races just for the fun of it. no point dumping this on the "wreckers", there arent many wreckers on the servers. the pros are bored. GTR GTR GTR + the new tracks ARE boring.

Ohhhh i forgot the YOU-HAVEN'T-DRIVEN-EVERY-SINGLE-CAR-ON-EACH TRACK-Argument how could i dare to complain!?! Well, i hate frontwheel driven cars and i dont like cars with a lot of downforce, slicks arend that great either....and i love rallycross. since lfs s1 nothing relevant happened contendwise.the RAC is worthless, the Fz50 is a fat pig, it's the best car for RX, but well ,the FXR would be the best car with a decent suspension and rallycross tyres for RX anyway. it would be a real RX-Car like it is used in todays rallycross. oh....sorry i lost myself here.... well you don't need to drive UF1000 on KY1 to know thats not that great.

lfs's netcode and physics are still the best. no need to deny that. but driving the gti with better physics and netcode around blackwood doesn't make my day! i am desperately waiting to get something new and i am willing to pay for it! the price for s1 and s2 was a joke! in germany you have to pay much more for a game. MUCH MUCH MORE! most of the lfs buyers are willing to spent lots of money for extra content. pls stop throwing in the value for money. if someone is hungry you cant throw in the "YOU GOT SO MUCH TO EAT 3 YEARS AGO FOR ONLY 24 BUCKS!". Everyone who buys prologue now will buy whatever Eric has completed for the final release of s2 for extra money. just to have it before it actually get released.
anyway, lots of text and i know i will get some bitchslapping because of it. but when there isn't anyone left to bitchslap, because the bitchslapped don't bother to post anymore, the bitchslappers are getting lonely. always the same guys defending lfs at all costs, forgetting that most of the forum users are here initially because they love to drive lfs.

Quote from danowat :Wrong setup

nono, i think it's my driving style. had some longdistance sets from very good drivers. they did millions of fast laps with the set, i burned the tyres within a few laps. the problem is, that i think, driving sideways is such fun (no i am no drifter ) and in the fz50 it's still reasonable fast.

fortunately rx tyres don't heat up that fast and rx races are very short . that impressive grip on the rear combined with a huge engine is awesome.

1. lx6 just wonderful to drive. agile, easy on the tyres, great handling.
2. xrt, very nice for good fights. lacks horsepower though
3. fz50 a dream on RX-Tracks, unfortunately a nightmare after 3+ laps on tarmac (i really don't like saving tyres, i think it's boring)

sorry, i skipped most of the very long posts in here. maybe i ll read it later.

just my personal point of view on this:

i am under the impression that the car is way more stable under braking when i am moving very fast (the beginning of braking). So, when i am driving in my XRT. I use a lot of engine braking at first. by doing that, i have the brake balance turned to the back a little bit and more "brakingpower" overall. when getting slower and slower i stop that engine braking and only use my brakes, because my car would get unstable at the rear, if i continued that engine braking.

i think, it's like android said, it's possible to dynamically adjust the balance under braking. imho the perfect balance varies at each point of the track. sometimes you need to trail brake, sometimes you need just brakes that stop the car as quickly as possible.

Quote from Boris Lozac :Yep, i agree totaly BBT, my post was towards people asking for content just for the sake of content... the people who say, i am bored of that track and that car while they are not even within 50% of their capabilities there...

well, there are also racers who don't have the time and motivation to become the perfect driver. there are people who get bored by combinations quicker. people are different. also, if you, like me, don't like monopostos, frontwheeldrive and lots of downforce, there aren't that many combinations possible. everytime i played lfs the last months, i just wanted to be entertained, i really didn't care about being the fastest. more content would be nice, just to experience something new. it wouldn't be a problem if i have to pay for it.
