i just read some game devs say that dx11 games can be made to support dx9 cards.plus, i just ran the stalker COP benchmark, and that ranges from dx9 to dx11. where did you read that dx11 games cant support dx9?
Why would you ask a question with such an obvious answer? the developers have to take advantge of the new features of dx11, or else there will be no big difference. framerates may change a bit.
btw, what are your pc specs? I got massive gains when i upgraded from a 4850 to a 5850 and i had an e8400 processor. Now i've got an i7 thoough. You can find used 4850's, 9800gts, 250s, for $80 or so now.
If you look at the tech demos, games can be made to run from directx9-11. like with the uningine heaven benchmarks. If you dont have a dx9 graphics card by now, you probably shouldnt be playing lfs in the 1st place.
It looks like Windows 7 sales will be very high. and demand for the 5xxx series is high (though supply is low atm)
did you end up going i7? i went to microcenter in NJ and picked up a cpu from there. the 1st stage of my new build is almost complete. just waiting for new case to get here
yes, that's why I said "if". the difference is not big, currently. i5 is dual channel instead of tripple, has no hyperthreading, and 8x 8x crossfire/SLI instead of 16x. this is only a few fps difference in all games currently out.
welll, if you look around, you may be able to build an i7 system for not much more than i5. I found a i7 920 for $200 when its regularly over $290 and I also got my X58 motherboard for $170.
The Unreal 3 engine just got released to indie developers for a nominal fee of $0 if for non profit use. If being done for profit there is a 1 time $99 fee plus 25% in royalties after $5,000
yeah, my i7 really wants a better case... my coolermaster 534 has very bad cooling/airflow, also my power supply is very cheap. these are things to consider when upgrading. buy a very high quality case, and you can reuse it.
I hope i can grab a better powersupply before something bad happens.
