I do agree with Ian, I didn't think we'd be in this position 3 years (more than 3 years I know) now into the games development, especially with bugs that have always been there.
I do love LFS but when patches come out I find myself thinking, why has this been added or why hasn't this issue been addressed. At times I feel like the real issues are just being by passed and other features added that weren't really wanted or needed at the current time.
I have faith in the devs, it's just taking longer than I thought.
South City will punish your system the most. Turn the FPS on and see what you're getting alone and then with people.
Just do the normal things, cleaning your system, running spyware stuff and try updating the graphics card drivers. Don't have things running in the background when you're playing, like MSN or any torrent programs, that kind of stuff.
More RAM will help to a certain extend, you might notice faster loading times (depending on how much you have and how much you add) but it wont really effect FPS so don't expect too see a massive performance boost cause you wont get it.
I don't think you'll notice any difference when running LFS cause the loading times are really short/non-existant anyway. With games like Crysis and ARMA I noticed faster loading times when I went from 2gig to 4gig and the more so now I'm on Vista x64.
Just make sure you know what RAM you need DDR, DDR2 or DDR3 cause they each have a different slot.
I don't care that people don't like him, it's the real hatred and venom that people bring when they talk about him and the reasons they see for what he does that are so horrible.
Asking for a setup should NOT be the first thing that you type when you've joined a server.
That’s the biggest announce that most people I know have, when someone joins a server and immediately asks for a setup, especially when they disconnet anyway after leaving the pit lane and crashing at the first turn.
At least do a race to show you're going to stay in the server and race.
Like STROBE said, MM is the head of an international organisation that meets and deals with all the countries and cultures of the world, all of which having varying degrees of what they deem to be acceptable.
Because of this MM's personal/private life must be as squeaky clean as possible with no oddities or perversions. What might be totally nothing to you could be the biggest problem or insult in the world to someone else.
After switching to AVAST I can see how much AVG8 (and probably other versions) slowed my computer down and missed some trojans, which is a shame cause I've always used AVG since I got my PC.
The only time certain threads become a problem between racers/drifters/cruisers is when either one of the three says something totally stupid or starts reposting already discussed to death topics or posting a lot of the same type of thread.
Like the current crop of new cruise servers popping up and their owners posting a notice about it in the general section.
I can only speak for myself but I wouldn't want to see a drifting or cruising section anywhere here, a drifting section maybe, if I had a choice between having my balls stamped on but never a cruising section. Cruising is about as far away from what LFS is as you can get and should be kept that way.
For a racing simulator to have dedicated section to drifting and cruising in the official forums I think sends out the wrong message about LFS.
I think it's best if they just use their own forums and websites rather than have a section here for drifting and cruising.
I'm lovin the XFG at the moment, can remember racing with Cropsy loads of times in the demo, he was always really clean even tho he could get very close.
Could do with a few more sign ups, everyone seems to be really busy at the mo with leagues and stuff.
Forget buying LFS right now and just clean your PC....which is kind of obvious, don't just sit there if you know your PC has trojans on it, but you are trying to give out important details about yourself (the kind you should never give out to muppets on the internet/anywhere at all) so maybe I shouldn't be so surprised.
Good free antivirus discussion - http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=31896 - I'd recomment Avast, having just switched to it from AVG it's much better. Download and scan your PC. Then use something like Spybot Search and Destroy or other such programs, I also run Crap Cleaner as well.
There is a program called hijackthis, it can be a little time consuming to use so google it, read about it and do what you have to do.
You have to give learning a wheel a good month, maybe even longer depending on how long you been with KB or mouse. Plus you need to make sure you got the wheel and pedals setup right.
Took me a while to adjust from my old Wingman to the DFP. It was the extra rotation that was difficult at first and the pedals were a little softer but much more travel. Was also lucky I knew loads of people with the DFP who helped me set it up, it should be an easy thing but some times finding the right settings (like rotation...540..can be tricky).
Wheel is much better, wouldn't want to voluntarily go back to KB.
