Quote from george_tsiros :besides:

yeah and where's the problem?

for those who are sceptical, the card still runs perfectly after all these years, in my gf's pc.

Quote from dougie-lampkin :If a CPU was capable of running 4Ghz safely, do you really think Intel would sell it as a €50 CPU? I know they sometimes sell the higher-clock-capable ones at lower clocks to meet demand, but from 4Ghz down to 2Ghz? It would want to be literally one in a million to perform like that. He even said himself it's unstable after 10 seconds at 3.8(or was it 7?)Ghz

Thanks for helping us with our point

If you didn't lock certain threads arguments would roll on and on on and on on and on on and on on and on on and on on and on...............

Harjuns thread(s) is(are) a prime example, that(they) would have gone on and got worse.

If you're waiting to buy until S3 then you'll have a fair wait.

Like most, I don't see S3 coming for a while yet.

Just as I thought you couldn't get any lower harjun you pull out those bad boys, nice one.

You really have no idea at all

I would suggest that others don't lower themselves to harjuns level with meaningless threats, I understand the frustration, sheer disbelief and anger but it doesn't improve anything.

Quote from joshdifabio :I've no experience when it comes to sticking heat sinks to the CPU and that sort of thing.

You don't stick anything to anything.

You put a layer of thermal paste onto the CPU then mount the heat sink. If you buy a retail CPU (one with a heat sink and fan) the heat sink would normally be pre-applied with thermal paste so you'd not have to worry about it.

The rest is just plugging cables into things, pretty easy but daunting if you've never done it.

The main benefit that comes from building it yourself is that you can put whatever bits you want in there and tailor it exactly to your price range and needs.

Quote from george_tsiros :i just noticed that the same end result can be achieved by limiting the maximum lock setting.

so it was easier than even i initialy thought.

I said that ages ago!
Quote from garph :Obviously you wont get the full steering of the car if you want just the 240 degrees but can you match up the steering lock setting in the setup?

Have you just been taking the piss with this thread? Or hanging around lerts' threads too much?

Quote from Jakg :The FX700 is a different PSU - for a start the cables are sheathed on that, whereas they are not on this.

All I can do is see if I can get the cable from work, if not then buy one.

Man alive Jakg 54 posts for you to realise you need to get a new cable

I posted a link for that in the 3rd post

Quote from lerts :great i just tested and they unbanned me im on that redline combo

do you think i should switch my wormhole racer name to something anonimous?

You can't be anonymous in S2 because your username (lerts) comes up when you enter, get a PB or leave so it doesn't really matter what your display name is as people still know it's you.

Quote from harjun :I'm back

Definitely.

I don't think people are trying to defend you, more not agreeing with what others have said, but you still don't help the point they are trying to make. Being a little more humble might help or just not letting your attitude about it seep out so much.

The repuatation you think is fine will always follow you here and your posts will always turn into this.

I'm afraid speedway has stomped all over you warm fuzzy chi with hard science fact.

The fans just replace the warm air (heated up by all the hot gubbins inside) inside your case with cool(er) air from outside. The cooling effect totally depends on the temperature in your room; the fans don't really cool the incoming air at all.

......errr, yeah. Let's back up here.

What is your original problem/point or what do you want changed that prompted you to start this thread?

Quote from JeffR :Actually this is a secret ploy to give the developers a bit more incentive to do the next release, so us bored players will have something better to do than post here.

...I'd just walk away form this one, don't think you're gonna pull it back or get what you want.

Either way.

Quote from harjun :Thank you.
and seriosly though, if you guys think £100 is a lot of money for something which is going to last a year or so, you are wrong. I can be getting around 40 pence a day and earn more than £100 for as long as the cpu will last.

...you should have just stopped at thank you, pb32000 made the point much better.

£100 is a fair amount of money no matter how long whatever it is you buy is supposed to last. I have £57 in my bank and wish I had £100 to splash out on a new monitor or something.

I'm not having a go at you, I agree with pb3200, it's just going to take a while for you to shake off your reputation so just bare that in mind when you post certain things.

Quote from S14 DRIFT :There's a plug that goes into a socket near the CPU, which powers it. If it's not plugged in it will all come on but nothing will happen.

Quote from Jakg :Installed a new FSP 700w PSU and now the PC won't boot - the lights on the mobo come on, so it has power, but pressing the power button or shorting the pins does nothing...

My board has an 8-pin connector in the top-left corner - my old PSU had the connector, but my new one doesn't - could this being unplugged be the reason? If so - where do I get one from?

I thought you were clever with computers?

Mine has the 4pin power one and if I don't plug it in it does that....

You might be able to get away with the 4pin?
