Woah, you people are crazy

I have only spent about 3hrs. It was a 2h race and I joined the server a bit earlier for some last minute practice.

What's up with these offended people lately? There has been a sudden influx of these "this and that offends me and I wish them to be removed" threads.

Few things:
1. Words never hurt anybody.
2. Offending words are not the devs business to deal with. Server owners may decide to kick or ban people with offending names, but they may also choose not to. It's their server after all.
3. It would be impossible to make this game offend-proof. There would always be a way to bypass the limitations and it's simply too much trouble for too small gain.
4. It's your responsibility to raise your children, not a game developers. Also you can't shield your children from everything, only thing you can do is to teach them not to be dicks.
5. Just ignore people who offend you.

Solution to offensive nicknames: Don't look at them.

If this activity continues you can contact the persons isp and tell them that someone is trying to hack your account from their network.

I did a quick lookup of the ip and here is the results:
http://www.ip-adress.com/whois/78.98.76.151

It says there that their abuse-email address is: [email protected]
So if the hacking attempts continue just send them an email with the ip and times when this happened and the hacker might get in trouble with their isp.

Life isn't fair. Sometimes it kicks you in the head, sometimes only from a LFS server.

Quote from aceracer :With 100% set in the cpanel and 200% set ingame I couldn'¡t even turn the wheel, I'd need 6 months of muscle training before I could do that!! lol

The forces don't really get any stronger after 100% anyway

I think FFB might actually make you slower in some cases, because of the slow motors in the wheels which make you sometimes work against the forces when in real life the wheel would turn really fast on it's own.
What it does instead is make driving easier, because you know more about what is going on.

Quote from Boris Lozac :Second, i don't think one driver is better then the other if he spends 70 hours a week fidling with setup, finding glitches and practice 500 HL's in a day... that's just robotics.

It does. It's, you know, practice. The thing that they say makes you perfect. Maybe you should try it sometimes.

Quote from Boris Lozac :There are beta testers there for a reason...

The thing is that even the best beta teams can only find a fraction of the bugs and glitches that the game has.

Quote from Boris Lozac :I haven't followed LFS progress recently, but my teammate said something about road cars getting very limited setup options. That's great and a good step, but we need that with all the cars..

AFAIK Scirocco is the only car that will have limited setup options.

Yes. The NFS sounds 'cool', but in my opinion LFS sounds suit a simulation better because they give more information and are more realistic, even though they don't sounds as nice.

Quote from blackbird04217 :Alt-Tab lets you know that your game doesn't have focus

I thought that only works in non-full screen, which is why you are advised to make LFS windowed before alt-tabbing. But when LFS full screened alt-tabbing is not handled correctly, because full screen applications expect that the program will not lose focus. I am no expert on this, but I remember Scawen saying something about not being able to do much about full screen alt-tabbing glitches and seeing as many other games have similiar glitches when alt-tabbing while full screened it makes me think that there is more to this than programmer lazyness.

Quote from Dygear :Windows Vista = Windows ME;
Windows XP = Windows 98 SE;
Windows 7 = Windows XP; (Or at lest they hope it will.)

Actually Vista is more like XP. XP sucked at first too. Everyone was going on how you should stay with Windows 98SE back when XP was new. And just like with XP, Vista now works fine after they got some updates done and hardware manufacturers started making some proper drivers.
Also Windows 7 is more like a service pack for Vista. They just changed the name because Vistas reputation is ruined and silly people still think it's the same bag of hurt as it was a 2 years ago.

Quote from Whiskey :Is like 3 times faster alt+tab, because if you shift+F4 LFS would reload all the scenary (or similar)

Might be, but alt+tabbing causes games to crash and have all kinds of weird bugs and there is not much you can do programming wise because alt+tab goes out of the game by force (It doesn't let the game know that the user is switching to another program).
So sure you can use alt+tab if you want, but be prepared that it can cause games to crash/get stuck/have weird glitches.

You shouldn't use alt+tab. Use shift+f4 to make LFS windowed instead.
Using alt+tab with games is just a bag of hurt and should be avoided.

Yeah. RFactor is not quite as bad as reading these forums might make you think. Good things can be achieved on it. It's just that many of it's mods are not that well made and there are bunch of annoyances that make the whole experience a bit of a downer. The biggest being that you never really feel connected to the car like you do on LFS.

It's not cheap for only euro countries either, it's also cheap for the guys across the pond too.
Americans should now stop complaining too and get their LFS for ~34$

Quote from DragonCommando :"ABS or Anti-Lock Brake System is a system encorporated into the computer system of most modern cars, when active it allows a driver to steer thier car in a panic situation where they would normaly lock the brakes and slide."

Stop repeating yourself. Of course ABS is supposed to help you maintain control of the car without having to worry about locking the brakes.
