Somewhen earlier this year hotlap tracklimit checks got stricter and some times were removed. But even if that lap was still listed, look at WR charts, the top-10 times (or even whole first pages) for all tracks are always wheel and mouse is exotic minority.
And that is in a mode that kinda favors mouse due to its unlimited retry nature.

Quote : I've played LFS one all 3, mouse keyboard and wheel, and I'm much faster with mouse and even beat quite a lot of wheel users online.

When and on which tracks would that have been, because in online stats you basically have no laps counts.. There are only few tracks/cars where you even have more than ten laps and your laptimes are all slow.

Quote :If you don't belive you can look through the forum posts and WR's.

People say lots of things in forum posts and WR's with mouse are super rare.
In theory hotlap would be perfect for mouse because there is no reacting required, only memorizing. Rather believe in race results, like mpRes statistics.

Hi
Quote :I am using a KB and Mouse and when using these setups the rear would spin around without any warning or feel.

With keyboard/mouse driving those cars is harder. A ffb wheel gives feedback so it is possible to react before the car spins because you feel it coming. With mouse it is more of a surprise and when you see the spin it is already too late.
One can learn that too, but the process of blind trial & error is slower than feeling it naturally with wheel.

Quote :I even set the engine braking to 0

Yes, that could be one setting to adjust.
But just to make sure: It is "engine brake reduction", so you would want a high setting to have less engine brake.
Also try to shift gears down later. (Maybe even do not shift down for a turn at all until the exit, and then gradually shift down earlier)

Noise = music in the menu?
Or noise = sound of cars when you join a race, meaning the menu displays normal but in race it turns black?
Needs more details..some common problems:
-check/install graphic card drivers
-test if other games/3D software works
-plug monitor into correct port (into graphics card, not the mainboard's onboard graphics)
-check/install directX
-Press shift+F12 to toggle between windowed and fullscreen mode. Maybe it changes something.

From quick look it gives the vectors, from which you can calculate yaw. And from yaw changes over time you can derive yaw rate.

Insim has functions to set a car's position now. But it is more to to move cars out of sand traps and such.
While in theory it seems possible to use LFS as a visualisation of external/foreign physics, it would be very crude.

Insim, Outgauge, telemetry-export ( https://www.lfs.net/programmer/raf ) etc all give some very detailed data, but nothing suitable for the realtime "back and forth" you seem to plan.

Maybe have a look at TORCS? http://torcs.sourceforge.net/

I use Ubuntu on a bit more powerful laptop but MINT would be okay choice too. Both are good & popular distros.
Quote :My next step would be to burn the iso to a DVD, which I would have done already, if I still had DVDs at home

Not really an answer but from USB there are more things that can go wrong. DVD is guaranteed to work.

That is some mixed list..
WipeOut and HiOctance seem misplaced in a list of car games.
Mariokart, Stunts, RBR, Re-Volt, NFS series, Micro Machines,.. all great games. (LFS too obviously) But completly different styles and time periodes, impossible to pick a best one.

The camera can be freely moved to any position, angle, FOV can be adjusted etc.

Does it have to be a perfect round circle?
It is not so easy to keep going in excact circle for long duration.
Would something like this be acceptable:

What car should it be? Color?

Have driver's name and maybe country flag on the car. Might make people less like to re-use the skin because others can see its origin.

What kind of computer do you have? If framerate is still low try to record at lower resolution. 1280x720 will be the 720p "HD" setting on youtube. For performance it is better to set the LFS window to the resolution you want instead of having the recording software downscale it.
I did not try Spring Free Cam 8 but its website says that it records as .wmv which I think is not so good. (means good filesize but is not lossless so each editing step further reduces quality, and the compressing during recording uses CPU)
FRAPS is good recording software imo.

For editing my facit there imo exits no good free editing software.
The newer Windows Movie Maker versions are okay-ish. (Nothing great but decent and not as horrible anymore)
Easy to use but limited. For first video I would definately recommend that one.

Lightworks is good interface is bit complex. Similiar or worse with Blender.
Personally I found avisynth fascinating but it is an unusual way to edit videos, by writing scripts.

There are also Sony Vegas, Final Cut and the other "big names" but all cost $$$.
