Right. Thought it was some kind of minty candy from Canada. I'm actually surprised a drunken seahorse can even use a computer at all but hey - live and learn. How many alcoholic seahorses are named Greg, d'you think?

I don't know anyone with a famous name, so I'll share some totally awesome star-spotting moments.

Last year my wife ran into the young guy from Wolf Creek at our local rego office. He was getting his boat license. They had a pleasant chat.

Some chick who was on Neighbours for a bit (she had an affair with that Boyd guy) works around the corner from my house at a Jamaican restaurant. She's hotter in real life than on the telly. Just so ya know.

I plan to be famous myself later this year. I have to get a little better at luring backpackers to my torture camp, but just watch this space.

True, and same with the Resident Evils and some other titles (there was a RE remake for Gamecube and an RE4 is out for the Wii)...I guess I'm just a loyalist looking for reasons to stay that way Plus I have an aversion to giving money to Microsoft

LOL the only thing Communist about the Democrats is, well, nothing. FOX might want you (actually, tell you) to think the Dems are a pack of lefty hippie pinkos but in reality they're about one shade apart from the Glorious Heroic Republican Fatherland Security Party on the political spectrum (who pretty much ARE fascists, if you define fascism as a merger of state and corporate power, as Il Duce Mussolini did, and he should know). Their recent policies on just about everything have been so close to those of the Republicans they may as well just call a truce and form a single super-party devoted to ultra-capitalism and the global US Empire. The only thing each side really gives a shit about right now is which of their chosen brethren gets to live in the big house for four years and dole out sweet contracts to their CEO buddies, so they may as well drop the charade. If the Dems get in this time and if they're actually serious about good governance, most of their four years will need to be spent trying to undo the previously unheard-of economic & diplomatic damage the current sheriff and his handlers have been inflicting on the country for eight woeful years - never mind the rest of the world - the US is in so much debt (to pick just one example) you're all going to be paying for Georgie's wars and rich mens' tax-cuts for decades. Dems, Repubs, whatever. Two sides of the same freakin coin!

@ Mustang: well ... if you're going to judge a potential president of your country by something as stupid as the spelling of his last name then I sincerely hope you don't ever vote for anybody except the next American Idol. You wonder why people think Americans don't care about anything important? Attitudes like that are exactly why!

From what I've heard, Heavenly Sword is THE money game for the PS3. Sounds frickin insane Throw in the inevitable PS-favourite Silent Hills, Resident Evils, GTs, Metal Gears, GTA IV and more and the PS3 sounds like a plan to me. But then, having a PS1 and PS2 in the house may make me a little biased

Huckabee's an evangelical gun-crazy fundamentalist with Chuck Norris (a fellow Bible-humping fundie) endorsing his campaign. Unlike some, I don't believe that having Bruce Lee's redneck bitch as your poster-boy is a good thing.

Giuliani? A complete joke. He's there to absorb Daily Show/Colbert Report/Letterman jokes while clowns like Huckabee slip in through the back door.

Romney believes in half-baked fairy-tales some conman pulled out of his hat in the 19th century such as: the Garden of Eden was in Missouri *lol* and that the "real" native Americans were actually the lost "white" tribe of Israel. He also believes - in a blinding flash of irony - that religion is necessary for freedom Guess he hasn't looked over into the 52nd United State of Saudi Arabia lately - or into his own backyard at the fundie LDS polygamists forcing children into multi-marriage. He won't get anywhere - the bible-beaters in the US don't want cults running the country, they want "real" churchy types like Huckleberry. Why not? Could work...y'all voted Bush in...in 2004 anyway. And you already knew better! Go figure.

Hillary, as part of a spineless, post 9/11 Congress, believed every twisted, bare-faced lie about Iraq's WMD & allowed Bush Jr to wage his Global War On Everything and still won't change her mind on it despite a mountain of evidence that it's all based on deliberate falsehoods. She's part of the same spineless (and Democrat-run since 2006) Congress that refuses to impeach anyone from the Bush posse for anything, despite the fact there's a hell of a lot more impeachable behaviour going on there now than Watergate and Monica-gate combined. Pelosi, grow some balls and start throwing some punches!

Barack? Pretty tame & inoffensive. Seems like a smart guy though - and god damn does the Whitehouse need one of those right now. He's probably the best "choice" America has right now.

Ron Paul seems like a smart guy too, but he won't get the nomination from the Republicans because he's running against current Republican philosophy. Paul's for small government & governmental accountability, abiding by the Constitution and international law, government for the people and loyalty to the country - not the administration - among many other things, so he may as well be running for the Dems with the amount of support he's getting from his own party.

I've long ago given up on the US electoral process as being anything remotely like democracy though. The winner will be who the public likes the look & sound of in comparison to everybody else and runs the best PR campaign, avoiding at all costs any talk of things that actually might matter to Americans - or, alternately, the winner will be whoever has the most buddies on the Supreme Court (or on the boards of voting machine companies like Diebold) if the count comes down to the wire. Start campaigning for paper ballots, people. Those punch-card machines are a bigger scam than one-armed bandits.

Truth be told I'd love to see a gay, married-in-Canada, pregnant black woman as president, if for no other reason than it would really give rednecks the shits. Who cares if she's a terrible president as long as the gun-toting hillbilly gay-bashers are pissed off?

HB all  My dad, sis in-law and cousin are all Xtivus Eve babies - curse them all for making me buy you two presents at the same time And I guess they curse me for getting you one present and saying "this is for both"
FYI Jeebus wasn't born in December, Christians moved the date to that of of popular winter pagan festival, but don't let that spoil your day =D

IMO the most important person you share a (verifiable ) birthday with is Sir Isaac Newton, the father of the study of physics, without whom & which none of us would be here talking about how accurate the gameplay is

It's all very well to raise the point that racers outnumber drifters in the LFS community and say that because of that, polls/voting about drift-related features might not be all that fair, but LFS has always been developed and marketed as a sim for racing fans - which is exactly the reason racers outnumber drifters in the first place! It may sound obvious and even redundant to say that, but the simple fact is that Scavier marketed this game to a specific audience and, for the most part, they got exactly what they were after: people who want a realistic racing experience. The drifting seen in LFS thus far has really just been a (probably unintended) by-product of the excellent physics on offer. I think that the dear old XRT being a demo car for so long contributed to that in a huge way too, with its 1980s Japanese coupe good looks.

Regardless, LFS isn't developed by popular vote and there are only three people who decide what stays in the game, what gets added and what gets left out or removed (they do add things suggested by members but not many and not often). All the forum polls in the world won't change that. Asking the community with endless polls is pointless anyway - with racers outnumbering drifters as they do here, racers will always have superior numbers as well as a passion to keep what they view as unessential to racing out of the game. I can only speculate as to the developers' intentions but, based on the direction LFS has been going since 2003, it seems they're of the same mindset - replacing the XRT, the drift stalwart, with the new FBM seems like a strong indication of that.

Here's something I just realised (which is, I admit, probably completely bloody obvious to al lot of people): the devs will have known exactly what response they'd get when they remonved the XRT from the demo. They knew what they were doing and knew what to expect from certain corners of the community. They're not idiots. Don't treat them as such by expecting them to reverse a major decision (one which they would have undertaken after careful consideration) with a forum poll. Anyway, as I write, 88.10% of poll respondents have happily said "bye bye" to the XRT as a demo car - so, if you were expecting a poll to change the developers' minds it seems to have backfired quite spectacularly. Democracy sucks when everybody's wrong but you eh?

Quote from hamidude2006 :the new patch is crap get rid of it i want my xrt turbo back

Can I getta LOL?

Once you've paid for something, then you can claim that you own it and be entitled to complain about it and expect people to listen - if your complaint is actually valid. Since you're trying what's basically a free sample, I'm afraid it's just tough luck mate

On topic: I'm surprised to see such strong resistance from an experienced licensed user. I have a two-pedal wheel setup and I've had to re-adjust to a few things myself but I welcome it. I won't repeat other peoples' arguments - not least because they don't seem to be sinking in - but I will say Patch Y is one the best forward steps this game has made since some friends turned me on to it in 2003.

I gues some people don't know good they've got it

Something had to change with the demo and I'm glad it did. Not because it hurts drifters - I couldn't care less what you do with a car - but because the inclusion of the FBM encourages more people interested in racing to try this game. After all, that's what LFS is all about and having three road cars and no open-wheeler (especially since LFS already had four before the FBM - MRT, FOX, FO8, BF1) wasn't showing the full potential of the game at all.
