FTR, the other thread on this topic is on the front page of this section, last post less than an hour ago (link). No search function required other than good ol' fashioned human eyeballs
The double click thing in GPL really isn't as perilous as it sounds The threshold is quite "natural" (for want of a better word) and I've found that checking 90 or 135 by accident is very rare. Like pretty much all community GPL addons it's intuitive and quite well done. At the moment I haven't got GPLShift working so I'm stuck with the standard 45 glance anyway, which is fine. I have mirrors and stereo sound, after all. I doubt Jack Brabham was sitting up in the cockpit and craning his neck to look over his shoulder
GPL aside, I won't lose sleep over LFS' new look function. I'm fine with it. Hell, if I can't adapt my opposable thumbs to a mere computer game I'm not much of a bloody primate am I?
Yup. This is win-win as far as I'm concerned: any demo driver serious about drifting the XRT (with a current S2 version) will fork out for a license; any demo driver serious about racing will be enticed by the FBM. It's hard to see a downside tbh
I wonder if a double-tap on the look button would be feasible?
There's a mod for GPL (GPLShift) which allows a double or triple click option for looking left/right. One click on your look button = 45 degrees, double click = 90, triple = 135 (over your shoulder at the rear wheel). You can also set custom angles. Damn useful
I've always loathed that bloody chicane at SO, but now I approach it without fear and without nearly as much braking as I used to It's a lot safer and a lot more fun and the track improvements (graphics and layout-wise, including those at Blackwood - haven't had time to check out the others) are fantastic.
I'm with them^ get S2 now! S2 Final will be the same price as the S2 Alpha is now, so you've got nothing to lose - unless, of course, you stay a demo user. With the latest up-to-date demo, you'll lose the XRT which has been removed to make way for the Formula BMW.
The only thing more interesting than a great, multi-faceted sim that works well is being in on the development process of that sim and watching how it improves
That gave me the lolx I wonder which sim developer you could possibly be thinking of
Good move. I remember in one of the millions of "more stuff for demo plz" threads a while back that many people wanted the FOX to be a demo car to attract more people ... well, they got their wish and it's a win-win. Now, demo racers not only get shut of the "XRT4eva no license needed kthxbai" crowd, they get a brand new single-seater to race with as well as a bunch of new features and upgrades.
Go Scavier
PS: I will personally award four hundred billion dollars to the first n00b to start a "put t3h XRT bak in t3h demo plz waaahz " thread over in Improvement Suggestions ...
